It's Bigger Than Hip-Hop

From February 7th to March 6th 2024, I will be leading a 5-week certificate course on the history of Hip Hop culture and the role that women have played in its development since its inception fifty years ago. The course will explore Hip Hop’s origin story vis-a-vis the contributions of women in the culture, the nature of their erasure in the storytelling of Hip Hop culture’s fifty-year history, and the development and range of their unique gender expressions and performances as they have taken up each of Hip Hop’s elements. All course participants will receive a certificate upon completion of this 5-week course.
Offered every Wednesday starting February 7th from 5:30pm - 7:00pm EST (eastern standard time), the course is virtual (offered on zoom), free, and open to the public and anyone interested in Hip Hop and women’s history.
