Thank you so much for posting this video. I've been a Pete Fountain fan since I was 9 years old, same time I started playing clarinet myself. Thanks to my parents after they heard him on the Lawrence Welk Show, they wanted me to hear him after they bought one of his records a few years later. I was hooked after hearing the first song. That was 53 years ago, and I'm still playing thanks to Pete and his wonderful music he shared with the world. Prayers going up for his family after his passing recently. God Bless you all!!!

This documentary was fabulous. I have seen this not too long ago but I don't remember it back in 1980. I absolutly love pete. I wish I could have been there with him when he was marching and me playing clarinet right along side the guy. The one album I have never seen or heard on You Tube is Pete's - GOTTA TRAVEL ON. That's the one I cut my teeth on back in 1967. Pete has been my favorite clarinet player since I first heard him back in 1962. I was only 9 years old then. I was just learning to play clarinet at 9 when I decided to pursue Dixieland as a type of music to stick with. It's all due to Pete and his amazing ability to have played so fantastic.

He sits on the side of GOD's Right Hand and fills HEAVEN, now and then, with his music.
I often thought God gave us a little taste of heaven on earth every time I heard him play. Tommy Emanuel is one other musician that is lended to us by the good Lord.
Dad and I watched religiously just for the Pete Fountain number.
The trombone solo at 51:40 is great. And the "press roll" the drummer is
playing is sooooo right!!! You don't see drummers now days use the "press roll". It gives it a different "feel". Hard to put into words.

The Wolverine Blues @ 17:55 is the arrangement Matty Matlock wrote for Bob Crosby's band in the 1930s, and Pete plays Eddie Miller's clarinet solo note for note. Pete's heart was in New Orleans music all his life.

I have been looking for Pete Fountain's album "Luzian" for years but it seems to have disappeared. I loved the title song, but can't find it anywhere. the only listing I have found was on another album but the listing was crossed off. does any one know why Luzian (album & song) have been deleted?

Did Pete fountain ever play with black musicians?
Row Nu why does that matter ? what you implying ? many blacks didn't didn't play with whites ! dies it matter....
I saw a photo of The Basin Street Six, a band Fountain was in, with Louis Armstrong and Barney Bigard. I'm sure Pete Fountain did play with black musicians but they didn't record an album together.

He played with plenty of "black & white" musicians on Lawrence Welk (but left in '59 before the show went to color).
