Absolute godsend of a tutorial. Super clear on what does what and what to do in general. On top of that, this is perfect for cartoonish characters with a hint of realism. I can not appreciate you enough!
Thank you so much! I'm still relatively new to blender, and wrapping my head around materials have always been one of my biggest hurdles. (And an extra thank you for the asides about Eevee, I can generally only work on a very limited version of cycles if I'm lucky)
YOU ARE such a underrated youtuber i need to make it my mission to spread awareness about you, if anyone really wants to expand there repertoire in terms of skills and knowledge they need to wach your videos, keep up the good work :)
Skin material! Nice! Over 10 years ago, when doing a game programming course at a college, I got the art teacher to make me a giant bouncing AR butt - I kid you not! Always wondered...how did he get the skin to look so realistic. Thanks for posting this one! Off to try and replicate that butt after sadly losing the file since.
Yes, you could do something like that. How I would do that, is make a black and white image, and use that as the factor on the Mix RGB, to tell it where the skin is and where the lips are.
I'm actually going to say something about this, if you're going for full procedural stuff the only thing that you really need to rely on for a base color texture is masks for different areas
I have a question related to the procedural skin. If I wanted to make an unusual skin color (let’s say blue for now), how would I go about figuring out what color to use for the subsurface color?
Hey, Can you tell me how to make a professional rig; like how when I download the 'Spring' rig; There are all these shapes, Could you tell me how to do that? Edit:- Loved your vids :-].
@@RyanKingArt What I find most difficult is 1.The proper image texture map setting. 2. How to model the eye and uv unwrap the eye for it to be compatible with blender image texture map setting. 3. Setting up the material nodes, uv editor, and texture maps setting. Having all of them work together correctly so that the eyes are not just pink. 4. The proper naming convention for linking 2D image texture. as well as file browser setup so that when I save my project the eye texture import correctly ever time for reusability. All of this applies to creating eye brows as well.
@@RyanKingArt I bought this material from you, and apparently also need to do this, but as a newbie Blender user, I have zero clue how to do as you say. Can you tell me how, or point me at a tutorial that would show me, please?
also, when your baking the skin texture, you will most likely need to turn the sub-surface scattering value to 0 before you bake it.@@shaunerickson2858

okay this worked really well, super helpful tutorial and I'm 100% getting into more procedural materials
glad it helped! I have lots more procedural materials! you can check out my procedural material playlist with the link in the description.

if you ever do
in the name of the science team i'd like to ask that you share it with the world
oh...
@@macro3751 no it was for halloween.
@@gerdsfargen6687 i see, so it's a spooky butt
Sort of. Was a comical gag and I carried the AR marker around as a giant piece of cardboard strapped to my behind the 😂🤣😂🤣😂😂
Thanks this is such an easy tutorial to follow and you really explained everything well
Glad it was helpful!
Great tutorial again, thank you! Giving the hex numbers really help.
Thanks for watching!
Thanks for all your tutorials. Very helpfull.
Glad it was helpful!
Love these Procedural tutorials. Thanks
Glad you like them!
Wonder if the texture map can be a transparent texture with only the lips, cheeks and key areas, the mix with the color ramp?
Yes, you could do something like that. How I would do that, is make a black and white image, and use that as the factor on the Mix RGB, to tell it where the skin is and where the lips are.
Great Job
Thanks! 😄
Awesome! Very helpful tutorial 👍

that looks nice

awesome video as always, thank you!

Now that is creepy looking! Looks good.
Thanks! Yeah if I added hair and eye brows he would look less creepy. : )
@@RyanKingArt haha
very cool. is that 2nd voronoi needing to be inverted? it looked like little holes rather than bumps to my eyes?
Sure you could invert it if you think it looks better.
very helpful! thank you!
Glad it was helpful!
I have a question related to the procedural skin. If I wanted to make an unusual skin color (let’s say blue for now), how would I go about figuring out what color to use for the subsurface color?
I would just make the SubSurface color maybe a darker version of the base color. Or you could just change the color and see what looks best.

Yeah maybe I can make a tutorial on that sometime. Thanks!
Is there a way to merge the texture paint on top of the color ramp with full control over different colors for the texture paint?
Easy tip for those who just wanna quickily do it
1. make subsurface redish
2. Change subsurface to 0.070
3. Profit
👍
nice
Thanks!
after doing this, can we add vertex paint on the shaders?
Yes, you could add in vertex data by using the Vertex Color Node. 👍
@@RyanKingArt what do you plug the vertex color node into?
@@neet.tv_ Plug it into the color on the principled.
@@RyanKingArt thankyou, but then the texture cant be plugged in..
@@neet.tv_ The normal and roughness still can, but yes, you would swap it out with the other color data.
COOL tutorial. I wonder how to creat procedual skin thin hair based on my created voronoi texture. Hope to see your future video
Thanks for the idea 👍
thank u sir!

when can you texture human hair, animal fur, wool, feathers, skin, leather & scale?
Ryan, do you have any videos on the use of the subsurface color on objects?
No, I don't.
@@RyanKingArt please forgive me I just watched the whole video and you covered this. Apologies.
@@gerdsfargen6687 Oh yeah, in this video I add SubSurface Scattering to the face.

How did you get the lip bump?
it be awesome is you did just SKIN shade texture pack that i would completely buy
thanks for the idea!
You look better than before. In one of your older vids you looked fat now you look actually good.
Thanks. Yes, I started working out and restricting calories. And I lost a lot of weight and got much more physically fit. 👍

Thanks!

Can we do like Disney skin which I could not reach it
How would I add a different color for the lips?
maybe you could texture paint it
How I change this character like this character in skin: ruclips.net/video/9acxn7qAST4/видео.html
the HEX color does not correspond, how i can fix it
are you sure you typed them in correctly?
A Question: how to export this Skin Material into Game engine?
you will need to bake it out to texture maps.

no no. proceduralism is good for a base layer. you layer things on top of that
Sure. You could do that.
