So, so disappointed that this has happened. I’ve been following Ross and saw him as a shooting star. He’s young enough to come back but a 3 year ban is huge.
Coleman, Scantling, Ross - does the US have a whereabouts issue that needs addressing?! Such a shame! What was he thinking and why wasn't his dad on top of things too or does that put him under scrutiny as well?! Was looking forward to him, Champion Allison, Michael Norman, Michael Cherry, Elija Godwin & possibly Fred Kerley all pushing each other in the US 400m over the next 3yrs and maybe doing something special in the 4x4! Hope he learns from this and comes back a more mature & responsible 24yr old man!
Definitely a tricky situation, but when it gets down to the wire, we all make mistakes to try and save ourselves. In his case, the consequences were just huge and he has to deal with them. But yea Hopefully he gets back ready to go in 2025 to push the 400m forward with the other guys you noted!

Too bad for Randolph Ross. Its really not that tough, its on the athletes to keep their whereabouts updated and they can do it on line. If someone is still in college and traveling to compete in meets every week it might be tough, also if the person coming to collect the sample(s) is too picky about it (they want the athlete there at the exact location and exact time) then things could get questionable. Mr. Ross could concentrate on completing his degree during that time if he hasn't done so yet.
This reeks of Butch Reynolds, back in the early 90s. Reynolds's test came back positive after a race. However, there was proof that the testing was botched. The IAAF refused to admit a systematic breakdown at the testing site, even went as far as threatening penalties against USA Track and Field if it even allowed Reynolds due process. In Ross's case, an outdated notification/location system (a monthly rollover for an update????? WTF?????), and the administrators of that system refusing to acknowledge their system needs correction! Seems as if athletes have to follow up to see if the update is complete.
