Hi Celeste! Thank you for your flosstube. I love Lucy Calcutt and it's actually on my list of samplers to do. I started Remember Me yesterday for my birthday. I have to live up to 400 to complete the whole list of to do samplers. I love old movies too! I like Hitchcock's movie, because they are very stylish and gripping. I like western movie by John Ford High Noon, 3.10 to Yuma and all the ones with John Wayne. I also like The river of no retrurn with Marilyn Monroe and Robert Mitchum. I love Bing Crosby's movies and any one with Cary Grant (Charade). I love Doris Day movies... One that is very good is Come September, set in my country which is Italy. Gina Lollobrigida dances so perfectly with Rock Hudson! One of my favourite mistery movie is the Uninvited (1944). I also love Portrait of Jennie with Jennifer Jones and Joseph Cotten and The Ghost and Mrs. Muir... I can go on forever... Happy Stitching!
Hi Celeste I love all your beautiful stitching always. My favorite is Sarah Barker by Pineberry Lane. I love old movies too. I watch them all the time. One of my favorites is A Tree Grows in Brooklyn from 1945 and then of course the Grapes of wrath. I’m sure everyone has seen that one. Thanks for sharing all your beautiful stitching.
All the samplers are beautiful. I like watching all the old movies especially the musicals with Danny Kaye and Bing Crosby. John Wayne movies are a favorite of mine also. Can't beat a dusty ole cowboy tale.😂
So many great old movies - "I Remember Mama" is fun. No favorite sampler - you choose! Hugs
Miss Lucy. One of my favorite old movies is imitation Of Life. Great movie.
My choice would be A Tender Father. I love old movies and watch them as often as possible. I love Ben Hur and The 10 Commandments, and Doris Day and Rock Hudson movies - they are lots of fun. Another Rock Hudson movie I love is with Jane Wyman in All That Heaven Allows. White Christmas, and Christmas in Connecticut are wonderful, too! I also love John Wayne movies! Ahhhh, those were the good old days!
ANOTHER GREAT ONE!!! Thank you Celeste! My vote is for Miss Lucy. As for old movies mostly westerns that I can't remember names of. My husband loves Seven Brides for Seven Brothers.
Quiet man, Sabrina, and Roman Holiday are a few of my favorite old movies.
I vote for Miss Lucy Calcutt. I’m really enjoying reading everyone else’s movie suggestions! I remember mama with Irene Dunne (1948) has always held a soft spot in my heart…❤
So enjoyed seeing you again great job on you WIPS. Somewhere Iñ Time is a movie I will watch over and over again.
I vote for Lucy Calcutt. My very favorite old movie is Bringing Up Baby with Katharine Hepburn and Cary Grant! It’s perfect to watch with your family. I laugh the whole way through. Oh, I just love that movie!! ❤
A tender father. You may enjoy watching The Quiet Man made in 1952 with John Wayne and Maureen O’Hara set in Ireland.
Miss Lucy Calcutt. Breakfast at Tiffany's always a favorite love the music and the other that I love is "Out of Africa" the scenery is gorgeous. Story based on a true story. And honestly you could stitch any of the samplers they are all beautiful! Like I always say stitch what makes you happy so if putting in stitches in all of them makes you happy go for it. No stitch police are looking. Happy Stitching!
Miss Lucy Calcutt. The colors are gorgeous.
Sarah Stewart Hardman is stunning. She’s high on my list now, thanks friend! 😉
Movies - Lilies of the Field
All the pieces you showed are something I could easily be enabled to start. Just kitted up the Stacy Nash Spring Basket pin keep so I was happy to see your finish. I savor each of your videos, love your calm and thoughtful comments throughout.
Bridget Power gets my vote…how unique! All your projects are just gorgeous.
Loved catching up with you and your beautiful projects! Your getting so many great ideas for movies. I love old movies and have a lot I love but a couple that stand out are Citizen Kane with Orson Wells and for the holidays I always watch The Bishop's Wife with Cary Grant. I vote for Lucy but all of your choices are fantastic! Happy stitching!💐🌹🌻
Bridget power. Beautiful stitching as always
Beautiful stitching! I vote for Miss Lucy and The African Queen is a great movie:)
What a tough decision…….they all are just beautiful ❤️! But, I’m going with A Tender Father…..❤️❤️❤️. Love all of your work, you have some beautiful WIPS going!! God’s blessings to you and yours
I vote for Miss Lucy. Thanks for another great video.
I have to vote for Lucy because your face lit up. Gorgeous. But, tough choice. So many great old movies, too. Gone with the Wind, Meet Me in St. Louis, North by Northwest, An Affair to Remember, Laura. You could stay entertained a long time.
Spring basket is so cute Celeste.
I vote for miss Lucy. I have 3 favorite old movies for you. 1) The Ghost & Mrs. Muir, with Rex Harrison and Gene Teirney 2) Father Of The Bride, with Spencer Tracy and Elizabeth Taylor 3) Father's Little Dividend, which is the sequel to number 2. All of these movies are so fun.
Sound of Music is by far my favourite old movie
Mine too! My dad was military and we lived in Germany as a teen and I got to see sound of music and Mary Poppins in th theatre. And we got to go see a lot of places in Sound of music even the tomb they hid behind. I still at 6 love that movie!
Love all your samplers. My favorite is Miss Lucy Calcutt. We love old movies to. My Mom and I still watch the Shirley Temple movies. My husband and I LIKE Gone With the Wind, Breakfast at Tiffany’s, Rear Window plus I think anything with Jimmy Stewart is great. Have fun.
Penny Serenade is a lovely old movie, I watched it again just the other day. As for your samplers, they are all gorgeous x
All of your possible choices are beautiful. My vote is for Bridget Power. I plan to stitch her myself in 2024.
I vote for Lucy Calcut. I love several movies. The Man who Shot Liberty Valance is great. Also Gone With the Wind, the Wizard of Oz, Men Prefer Blondes(I think that’s right). Good to see you again!!
A Tender Father gets my vote also, but it's close. Another great video and great question! We love old movies too and I'm enjoying learning about new ones!
Hi Celeste, I love all of your sampler choices and your stitching is so beautiful, but my vote is for Miss Lucy Calcutt. For old movie suggestions, "Guess Whos Coming to Dinner" a 1967 classic with Sydney Poitier, Katherine Hepburn and Spencer Tracy. Also this movie has a lovely kind message.
Wonderful video!!! ❤ Your stitching and fabric/floss choices are so beautiful!! Yum! My vote is Lucy Calcutt. Love those colors! Everyone named my oldie movies! LOL. Happy stitching!!❤
I love the first two you showed, but Miss Lucy Calcutt has my vote! Happy stitching.
Miss Lucy Calcutt 1825. All of the samplers are beautiful. ❤
I think Bridget Power only because selfishly I want to see what it looks like stitched!! They are all so beautiful which makes it a very hard choice! If you are looking for an old movie that is lighthearted and funny Mr. Blandings builds his dream house is a great one.
Bridget Powers gets my vote!! Everything you do is beautiful
I think you should stitch Lucy Calcutt - sooo beautiful. I also love old movies, Love Gaslight and Rebecca, too. Anything by Hitchcock is always good. One of my favs is Rear Window. I have always loved the classic western, Shane - excellent movie.
A TENDER FATHER👍👍 How about the movie. THE BELLS OF ST MARYS.
Sarah Barker would get my vote👏
My favorite old movie is probably Holiday Inn.
But, I dearly love all the musicals.
Sarah Barker. They are all beautiful!!
Bridget Power! i was just thinking of the movie The King and I today…happy stitching on all your beautiful projects!
Oh dear Celeste, 😢 love your start A Tender Father that I really want to start. So you are talking to a fan of "old movies" so very hard to choose. I think it one is Charade with Cary Grant and Audrey Hepburn. It is a mystery. Love you dear Celeste....till cooler weather ❤
All great stitchy projects.
I vote for A Tender Father.
I know its out of season, but, my favorite old movie is White Christmas.
Marilyn
All of your Sampler WIP’s are beautiful. I say you should stitch on Sarah Barker because you seemed like that is one you really want to stitch.
A favorite movie of mine when I was young and is a good family movie is Chitty Chitty Bang Bang with Dick Van Dyke. Happy stitching.
A Tender Father. Happy Belated Birthday
Every Audrey Hepburn movie. Every Kathryn Hepburn movie. Then for fun….Doris Day comedies🙂🍁
I vote for Bridget Powers. I absolutely enjoyed watching A Quiet Man.
1st choice is Lucy 2nd choice is Sarah, love how they both made you just giddy lol and they are all beautiful!
My favorite old movies are the old musicals - 7 brides for 7 brothers, calamity Jane, by the light of the silvery moon and so forth. My favorite of the 4 samplers is Tender Father. Good seeing you again😊
I’d have to vote for Bridget Power. It’s so beautiful and so unique. I just don’t see anyone finishing that one. Hope you have fun with whatever you choose. I always enjoy your videos.
I love Miss Lucy , but what a hard decision but the great part is you are going to do them all yea for you , Gone with the Wind I love that one ❤️
Celeste, happy belated birthday!!🎉🎂🥳 My pick would be Miss Lucy…or a Tender Father. All are beautiful!
Celeste, I hope you had a wonderful birthday. I love your birthday start. ❤ Lucy Calcutt gets my vote. She’s on my wishlist. As far as old movies, I’m not well versed in that category, but I’m making a list of ones to watch based on reading the comments. I do love old musicals, and my all time favorite is Seven Brides for Seven Brothers.
That’s a hard choice, I think a Tender Father is my favourite. Favourite movie, maybe the dirty dosen.
My vote is for Lucy followed by A Tender Father. Old movies: Wait Until Dark, very suspenseful, Friendly Persuasion, for feel good, McClintock & Hatari for fun John Wayne movies, and the original Pink Panther for silly fun. You can't go wrong with Cary Grant in Charade, I Was A Male War Bride, Father Goose, Operation Petticoat, North by Northwest or People Will Talk. Now I want to go watch old movies!!
Your Stacy Nash chicken and bunny pinker is so pretty. I like Lucy and "A Tender Father". My daughter and I have a list of classic movies we have put on a wheel(because of your project wheel 😉 ). One of our favorites, "The Rear Window" with Jimmy Stewart and Grace Kelly. We also love "Singing in the Rain" and "The Ghost of Mrs. Muir"(not sure about my spelling there).
So many lovely pieces you have for September ...I love "A Tender Father" but if you are looking to start another for September Sampler, I would do work on "Lucy Calcutt"...she is a beauty for sure!! I didn't watch a lot of TV so my movies are not that old!
Dirty dancing seems to be the one I always enjoy seeing again...
a tender father I love Imitation of life and any John Wayne movie.
I rarely comment since I watch on large tv mostly but I just had to pop on and say your sampler in the opening is breathtaking. I do want to get Lucy Calcutta started too. It’s so pretty. My fav! I’m a big TCM fan. My fav old movies are musicals and old westerns. Like Gigi and Mclintock. If you’ve never seen How Green was my Valley you’ll like it.
Mildred Pierce, The egg and I, It Happened One Night, What a way to go
Lucy! The Scarlet Pimpernel...
Thanks for showing us all your beautiful things 😊
I love watching old movies too, and one of my favorites is The Bells of Saint Mary's. 😊. I love the Stacy Nash pinkeeps, but I think every flosstuber I watch questions the use of the term "pinkeeps" to describe those little lovelies 😂. It was a tough call for me between Sarah Barker and A Tender Father, but I'm going with Sarah Barker because of her date...1824 is before 1847😊. Enjoy stitching your samplers!
Attended father would be my pick! Love your samplers! I too like Gone with the wind !
I took a class from Lisa Bonjean, Primitive Quilts, our class project had a black background, she had us trace the lettering on press and seal wrap and stitch over letter, then pull the press and seal off carefully from behind lettering. I also saw a demo and the lady was recommending a clover white ink pen, she did mention you have to prime By scribbling o get it started, you projects are beautiful. I love Jill Shallis fabric and designs.
I vote for Lucy! I just found your channel and I love all things SAMPLER!
I watch TMC alot. Two movies I like are
Goodbye Mr Chips - 1939 starring Greer Garson and Robert Donat.
And, The Enchanted Cottage - 1945 starring Dorothy McGuire, Robert Young and Herbert Marshall. ❤🎬📽
Lucy Calcutt gets my vote. Also, so many really good old movies - the originals of Father of the Bride, The Bishop’s Wife, and An Affair to Remember. Gone With the Wind is my all-time favorite. I love old movies! 🍿
Thanks for sharing your stitching again! I think you should work on either A Tender Father or Miss Lucy Calcutt for your next sampler. I was going to suggest Casablanca for a great old movie to watch- Singin' in the Rain is always fun if you want a musical. Happy stitching!
Lucy Calcutt. Great question! Good fun reading comments, making a list of movies I forgot about…will add a few: Strangers on a Train, Little Women,l and Wuthering Heights.
I vote for Miss Lucy Calcutt. Bells of St. Mary...
Hi Celeste- so glad I watched your video as I worked on a design. You have so many amazing samplers you’re working on- I’m obsessed with them all. Happy stitching hun ❤
Oh thank you!
Gone with the wind. I have watched it at least 10 times. Lucy Calcutt gets my vote
Best movie ever!
A tender father. I love, It happened on 5th. Avenue
Sarah Barker! Although I think you want to work in Lucy. Lol. The Sound of Music! My very favourite. Not a movie watcher so don’t know many.
Bridget Power is my choice. Roman Holiday is one of my favorite movies.
A Tender Father is my vote 👍
As far as old movies, 7 Brides for 7 Brothers, Carousel, White Christmas. Enjoyed the video as always ❤
Lucy Calcutta has my vote. 😊
I smiled along with you as you deliberated about your samplers. You are a delight. As for movie suggestion, The African Queen with Kathryn Hepburn and Humphrey Bogart as well as Pat and Mike, Kathryn Hepburn with the delightful Spencer Tracy. Let's not forget the Bells of St. Mary's with Bing Crosby and Ingrid Bergman, and please please please watch Going My Way with Bing Crosby and Barry Fitzgerald and a wonderful cast.
I love your videos, and anxiously watch for them! The four samplers you have to make a decision on are some of my favorites. I suppose if I had to choose just one, I’d choose Bridget Powers. It’s stunning, and extraordinarily unusual. One of my favorite old movies is The Thin Man with William Powell and Myrna Loy. It’s based on a book by Dashiel Hammett. There’s a sequel called After the Thin Man, I believe. With the Christmas season approaching, my all time favorite movie is The Family Stone. It hasn’t had as much popularity as some, but it’s funny yet sweet and touching. Have a happy week. xx, Lee
Sarah barker. We watched musicals and a favorite was 7 brides for 7brothers. My kids lived it and even could do some of the dance moves😊
The African Queen!! My absolutely favorite old movie!
LUV all your samplers!
Lucy is it! Great video
My favorite is the Ghost and Mrs. Muir. Absolutely wonderful. It stars a young and handsome Rex Harrison along with Gene Tierney. Very romantic!
And work on Bridget Power (don’t think I spelled that right!)
Miss Lucy Calcutt seemed to make you more giddy than the others, so I vote for her! Oh boy! There’s so many great old movies, so that’s a very hard question. But if you’re into musicals I’d recommend Seven Brides for Seven Brothers 😊
Man o man Celeste, that's a tough choice- Sarah Barker I guess- I'd do them all for a few days!
Oh I loved hearing that you pretended to be a bus driver when you drove your little yellow bike. I used to make a set of "keys" with bobby pins that I used when I rode my bike. I'm cracking up here. We're supposed to vote for your sampler but you're head over heals in love with the first one. What to do? 😄 You know it's amazing how different the stitched pieces are from the charts. A couple of those charts wouldn't attract me at all but then I see your beautiful stitching and I am blown away and love them all. However I am going to go with dear Lucy Calcutt. The movie I'm going to name is not super super old but I absolutely love it and it's Fiddler on the Roof. And another one is To Kill a Mockingbird. Take good care. I'm sure the cooler weather will be heading your way soon.
Bridget Power gets my vote, but they are so gorgeous! I love the happiness they bring you.... your face just lit up!!!
I choose A Tender Father. To Kill a Mockingbird is an old favorite.
Bridget Power! I love those gorgeous flowers and that beautiful altar!
