Hey Nayna, your urge to nap is probably due to not sleeping well at night, but just to make sure I’d check your iron levels at the doctor’s. Iron isn’t in the multivitamins you take but it’s vital nonetheless. Iron deficiency can happen when you’re on a vegetarian or vegan diet (although omnivores can get it, too). Since I think you’ve been vegan for quite a while, I think it would be a good idea to check your iron levels :) Greetings from a med student!

And I used to nap a LOT during my final year, it's most likely that your brain has understood that it's your final year and that may be the thing stressing you out at night and preventing sleep, at least, that's what happened to me. I dealt with it by focusing on module by module, compartmentalising helped me get through each term in my final year. But you're going to be absolutely fine, get lots of rest 🥰
Hiya Nayna, re your sleeping, Im a psych person (did a masters thesis on insomnia) so I would suggest checking your caffiene intake as most teas tend to have caffiene which can affect sleep. Certainly if you drink teas with caffiene regularly you can build a tolerance to its effects but still be affected sleep wise. Other than that there is also Seasonal Adjustment Disorder which tends to kick in around this time of year. That can affect mood as well as sleep. You can also track your sleep using your phone with a tracker which can give you feedback on the quality of your sleep. If the issue is falling asleep you can try a quick hack I use that always works for me. Have something on playing music/tv or whatever at a very low volume. It helps to distract your thoughts which can sometimes stop you falling asleep. The low volume sound gives you something to focus on and when the music or tv starts to sound like gibberish or you feel yourself drifting off, turn off the sound source. As by then you will already be in the early stages of sleep. On another note, still surprised you dont have a dedicated rain jacket living in Scotland lol Rain is 80% of the weather up here, all the best!

Have you had your iron levels tested recently? I was feeling really tired and it turned out I was unable to absorb iron (and other nutrients) due to underlying gut issues, even though I didn't have any gut symptoms. I feel way better after treatment so maybe look into it xoxo

Hey! Of course you should get your iron levels check, but during last year lockdown I started to sleep naps, and I did it for almost a year, and it was the hardest habit to kick out. It took me at leats two months for my body not to ask me to nap, so I would suggest not napping (unless you really need it), go on walks, maybe have a cup of tea and be patient with yourself
