Hello and welcome to another video! In this video we take a ride up front of a soon to be replaced Tyne and Wear Metro train between Newcastle Airport and Gateshead.
With the old trains already being scrapped and new Class 555 Stadler trains on test, the opportunity to sit in the passenger seats outside the drivers cab will soon be non existent with the Class 555s having a full front cab unlike the old trains.
We travel in Metro Car 4004 on a quiet evening showing the sights and sounds of the Tyne and Wear Metro including the underground city centre section and crossing the river Tyne between Newcastle and Gateshead.
    Footage filmed 30 May 2024

Surprisingly it was. Had to upload at a lower quality unfortunately due to the video being so big and my phone not having enough memory 😆

Amazing video Jamie. It looks like it's like an autonomous train, with the landscapes like somewhere in Europe like Germany and the bridge looks like almost from the Auto bahn in Germany too 🙂

Interesting the speed signage is in km/h and not mph or mi/h?

Im not sure if that's a standard measurement of speed for light rail systems. I think tramways measure speed the same way
