Oh no way, you're doing TFTC reviews too?? Awesome! I freaking love this show. I did hunt down the EC collection and read a few dozens of the comics, too.
My absolute favorite episode is "The Switch", the one directed by Arnie. The plot and the twist are great, the sets for the lab are awesome, and the mad doctor is played by Roy Brocksmith - who I remember fondly from Star Trek TNG episode "Peak Performance", playing a snooty alien that gets "busted up" by Data in a silly game of space-Battleship 🤣
This episode here is also very fun. I haven't read the OG comic version for this one, but it never fails to amuse me how wrong and spot-on at the same time the casting for this show often was. Joe Pesci is a total 180 from the comic's Clark-Gable-lookalike protagonist. 1950's blondes turned into 1990's brunettes. I'm surprised they didn't swap the cats that initiated the accident into a pair of Pomeranian dogs, lol!
My obligatory Star Trek trivia for Split Personality is related to the writer, Frank Dekker. He was very involved in the production of the first season of ST Enterprise and helped with the writing of three episodes. One of them being "Vox Sola", an episode infamous for having a monster that basically looked like a big pile of jizz.

Yeah the big reason why I wanted to do these was because I love the show and I can compare the episodes to their comic counterparts. It's been a while since I've done one though so I'll have to do another soon.

Man this episode is a classic. I saw it at way too young an age as an edited for content version on Fox. I was scared but couldn't look away kind of thing lol. As an adult I collected the series on DVD and saw the full episode in context. What a brilliant episode! It's one of the best of the series.

I remember this episode very well for some reason. But in the real world, you’ll need a surgical knife probably to get that exact 50/50 split of a person.

The comic comparison adds a lot. Axe animation was rad. Smooth video

One of the main reasons I wanted to do Tales from the Crypt was so I could do something fun with the comics.

Man, I love the editing on the comic book review a lot. Really spiced up the review :) The episode was ok to me. At the time I was too young to really appreciate what Joe Peschi brought to the table with his acting. I think I mainly liked it as a kid because the 2 actresses were very pretty to me. It's grown on me, especially after watching My Cousin Vinny.

The dealer? Dude, that's Cypher, I'd be shocked if he wasn't betraying someone.
He must pay, and he will pay, with his toupee...
I mean, wouldn't he technically only have one quarter per twin? Unless he then moidered the sisters..
But also, I'm pretty sure the idea of getting jiggy with twins is they're both there at the same time, right, which this scenario wouldn't do, so...
Is there no pay off for the guy that gets gyped at the beginning?
    Hmm...
I don't think TFTC really had an impact over here. I've been aware of it but, s'not really a cultural touchstone in the Empire. Dunno why, really, but there it is.
Often seems that these stories are sorta going in two directions at once. They're not complicated, so, they feel like good fodder for kids, but they also revel in cleavage and gore, so, not for kids.
Kinda seems to me they ought to have gone for one or t'other, but hey, not really my bag, baby. To be completely fair, the exact same accusation can be made of almost all Hammer Horror classics so it's probably just me.
I mean, like, the sisters are evil is two completely different ways but there seems to be no attempt to justify that. Kill daddy for the money but Pesci for spite? I get that being willing to kill works for both, but, I dunno.

      @JBSpookyReview  5 месяцев назад +1

Well the comics were for kids and the episodes are just straight adaptations for the most part with added gore and nudity.
