Yay! I have been trying to find someone who has experimented with Powerwax and discovered things that I haven’t. I love this stuff. Powertex products rock!
As someone else said, Yay, a new video! Powerwax looks like so much fun. Thanks for sharing it. I look forward to trying it. I've used melted wax, like varnish, on pieces and love the feel. This can be more colorful and a lot less dangerous!
Carolyn, i had to wait all day to order this magical ness! You always find the most fun stuff to offer a new level of art play with all things! You're excitement was infectious and had me placing my order!! Can't wait to see what texture and dimension this medium offers my creativity!
I LOVE YOU CAROLYN!!! ❤️❤️ You're so much fun. Thanks for the fun tutorial! 🙂🙂🙂 Carbon Copies!! Oh how I wish for those simple days before technology!!Wow! Great print at the end from such a messy gel plate!! ❤
You always have such fun ideas! I don't know how you find all the new supplies, but you're just a wealth of information and keep me on my toes hunting for the next goody to try! Thanks for being here!
Thank you so much for a truly exciting video on Powerwax. I have never heard of it before but I love what you did with it and will definitely have to order some. You are always full of great ideas and I always enjoy watching you present your latest!!
Thank you so much for all of your amazing videos and doing the leg work for this Powerwax video. I just got mine today and I am in love with it. I did my collage and realized that I mixed more paints than I needed so I grabbed some index cards that were nearby. Wow! I did the mixing on a paper palette and after the index cards were somewhat dry I pressed them into the paint as if it were a gel plate and they turned out amazingl. I now have some great sparks!
Power wax looks very interesting. I’m curious would gel medium do the same color transparent thing. I love how you can buff when the medium is still moist. Looks like fun. Really like how it works with the stencil! The scrape off is a nice feature too. My favorite thing is the buff off process, lots of potential , love how you explore and explain everything so well and with so much joy. Many thanks. ❤
Wonderful information. Does the power wax increase the translucency of semi translucent collage paper? Does it need a final coat of acrylic or varnish if you want the effects to last in a framed piece?
Carolyn, What a nice video you made. I also work with the wax occasionally. Maybe a tip for you ;) Did you know that you can rub the wax with a soft cloth after it is completely dry, you seal your workpiece and it gets an even softer look and it is waterproof ;) You might want to give it a try. Greetings Ellen
@mayetmahulilileilani2501 If you rub it with a cloth you seal it. But you only do this when you are completely done. I think you can always scratch it. Think of it as an oak cabinet that you rub with polish and then rub out ;)
Hi Carolyn! 😊 I was wondering if you could use this Power wax by mixing in Watercolors?? I'm a watercolor artist so I'd like to know if you've tried this yet? Thank you for your great video on this product, it looks like lots of fun to try and play with this. Maybe I'll have to get acrylics and go at it! 😀
That is a dental instrument. Forgot what it’s called. Gotta get some Powerwax! It’s unique in what one can attain. Don’t even have to dig out the Daddy Vans wax to keep pages from sticking! Thanks for telling us about this stuff!
Thank you I love this video. Unfortunately it’s not sold in Italy as many artists still paint using traditional mediums. I have found ordering from overseas can be problematic as items get caught at the border and held until they feel like dispersing them.
That's a bummer that it isn't available in Italy - totally get whe you mean about things caught at the border- have had many an item stuck in customs in the US over the years. Fingers crossed as more people know about it, that you'll be able to get it in Italy!
This is so informative ! I started tubing around to learn more nitty gritty details about power wax while I’m waiting for my delivery of it, and when I saw the ability with the gel plate too, man am I more excited to get my hands in some wax. Another artist suggested a layer of matte medium on the dry wax before applying acrylics to help with adhesion. Did you happen to do any more experimenting with power wax?
I understand that Powerwax adds texture, but what else does it do that ordinary acrylic paint doesn't do? Also, why did you put Powerwax on the gel plate? Does it act as a resist?
Great video -- ive been curious about this stuff! Curious -- do you havr an art journal brand / type that you favor? Im guessing your journal needs to have pretty thick paper to hold all this paint and wax?
Last week I got my hands on the new formula and it is a bit different. I've got a video coming up on Friday using it. The old formula was very juicy and the new one is firmer, but will be smooth and creamy when you smoosh it a bit. It reminds me of when Crisco starts out firm in the can but when you mix it, it becomes softer, creamier. One great thing about the formula is that because it is a little firmer, it is less likely to smoosh under a stencil. So, if you're looking to use it the way I have, mix some paint in with it and it should become all creamy and so for you just what the old formula would do. Oh, one other thing is that the new formula takes a little bit longer to dry, especially if you put a really thick layer on.

So glad you enjoyed the play!

Just love your bright personality and learning about powerwax!
Glad you enjoyed it!
We loved watching you play with Powerwax and we even learned something. Thank you. Cant wait to see what else you create.
This stuff is like nothing I have- love the wax feel and all it can do - and it plays with my acrylic paints!
You always have such fun ideas! I don't know how you find all the new supplies, but you're just a wealth of information and keep me on my toes hunting for the next goody to try! Thanks for being here!

Old calendars work good for paper.
Love your tutorial....your enthusiast instructions.........................😻
Thanks! I am so happy to hear you enjoyed it!

I received my neighborhood stencils and my power wax. I'm so happy.
Thank you for this! I always wondered about cold wax and thanks for the links!
Glad it was helpful!
I have a bunch of old movie tickets from back in the day! That might be cool to use!
I had fun with all the bits of xmas wrapping paper for a background.
So happy to see a new video and something new to try
Thanks! It is fun to share a new video!
Thanks for this!
Local auctions can be a good source for old papers. And most are online now.
We need another Carolyn retreat!!
I love you Ms. Carolyn!!!!

Glad you enjoyed the video. Not sure about the gel medium but if you've got some, give it a try and see if it does it for you!
This is so cool! Thanks for sharing this!
Very cool technique.
Can you glue ephemera ON TOP of dried power wax or will the glue not stick to it?
I like to use old falling apart dictionary and music pages as m collage background. Thanks for the demo, I was so curious about the Power Wax. 😍
What a fun paper to use!
😀 yeah, a new video! This looks like so much fun. Thanks for sharing.
WOW! This looks like so much fun! Another fantastic video! ❤❤❤
Love it
So great! Another informative, fun tutorial. Thx CD!!
Hi Carolyn, thanks for this video. I love this product! I have to get some!
Merci beaucoup 🌸🌸🌸
What wax can be used on gell plates and mix with acrylics?
What a great demo! 🎨
Wow, looks like an amazing product! Thanks👍
The Amsterdam nozzles fit a lot of other paint tubes!
What brands have you found they work with? I've found they don't fit any of the others I have in the studio?
Liquitex basics

tried this yet? Thank you for your great video on this product,
it looks like lots of fun to try and play with this. Maybe I'll have
to get acrylics and go at it! 😀
Haven't tried that but Powerwax is water based so I would think it would work.
You can always add art papers that didn't "make the cut", brayer cleaning pages and grocery receipts to create a background.
Very informative video. Makes me want to try the wax. TFS.
Glad you found it helpful!
Great video!!
Question: would your pages in your journal stick when stored?
Oh, I see you answered my question. I should have waited.
That is a dental instrument. Forgot what it’s called. Gotta get some Powerwax! It’s unique in what one can attain. Don’t even have to dig out the Daddy Vans wax to keep pages from sticking! Thanks for telling us about this stuff!
Thanks! Now I know what that tool is from! Had no idea!

I understand that Powerwax adds texture, but what else does it do that ordinary acrylic paint doesn't do? Also, why did you put Powerwax on the gel plate? Does it act as a resist?
I use gel plates as my palettes. In the video, I share how you can scratch into it after it's dry, how it blends, etc.
thank you 😀 What do you use as a varnish or fixative over the wax?
Thank you so much Carolyn.
Were can this be bought please
You can get it at powertexproductsusa.com/
Great video -- ive been curious about this stuff! Curious -- do you havr an art journal brand / type that you favor? Im guessing your journal needs to have pretty thick paper to hold all this paint and wax?
Cool! Once dry can it be used as a resist? Or because it is water based does it not resist?
This is a cool medium. I like what I am seeing. When this is dry does it need a fixative to to keep it from spreading?
When it's dry it can be buffed but it won't move like a paint would - if I'm understanding what you're asking.
@@CarolynDube thanks!
Very interesting ❤
Carolyn, I ordered power wax but when I got it, it was hard like a candle. Not creamy. What should I do? Please
Last week I got my hands on the new formula and it is a bit different. I've got a video coming up on Friday using it. @CarolynDube ill try that, thank you. 🌹🌹🌹
Thank you for the tutorial. What do you use as a varnish or fixative over the wax?
I don't for in an art journal and that's really the only place I've used it in so far.
I have this power wax and it is grainy. Did you notice that too?
It didn't feel grainy to me. When I mix it with paint it really thickens up but not grainy.
What exactly is the purpose of Power Wax?
So.....is this the same thing as Daddy Vans or kind of like it?
I am not familiar with Daddy Vans so can't say.
Wrapping paper works too 👆🏻
👍✌️🙏❤️
Okay...but WHY use Power Wax at all? How does it help? It's not textured, is it? What's it for? Okay, so it doesn't stick, but..?
Too much continuous talking
That's so we can try it ourselves : )
Jerk
She sounds like a cheesy commercial.
