    i like the dramatic flow these have with that unique tail light lens. its a familiar shape i miss seeing in traffic. its also nifty because its one of those cars you think is a coupe when you're not looking at it and in your peripheral it looks like a hardtop. when it comes to late 90s and early 2000s designs, its quite unique and sorely missed.

    the best of the last of the Oldsmobile breed.. imagine if Oldsmobile was still around, it likely would have been driving along side Tesla, Mercedes, bmw, and more. A shame that the brand died out 5 years after this film was taken

      yeah gee whiz sure too bad we don't have another stupid identical electric idiot pod with a name that did and deserves better on it. you sound like the people who think pontiac would have been immune to the retardation of the automobile in the social media age.

      Jaciee87 where do you live? Exactly. I hate American cars but Olds was a different breed, nothing like the junk out the other brands.
      And for the record Honda and Nissan build pure horseshit*, check their transmission reliability rate. Now go look silly in some corner and think about how dumb you sound when you’ve probably never once been in an Olds GURL!

      domestic cars got worse because we stopped putting effort into things. No one has a passion for the cars they design. They just have to be good on gas and live long enough to make it out of warranty

    • @jeffreyfurtado3681
      @jeffreyfurtado3681 4 года назад +6

      @Jaciee87 Oldsmobile was a pre luxury car like Buick. However, OLDs was the research and development center of GM. They were building high quality and down market Olds. The Achieva was built to compete against midsize imports. The Aurora was built to compete against entry level luxury type cars.

    I owned a '97 Riviera with a 3800 series 3 engine and an '06 DTS with an L37 Northstar. Both cars weighed about 4,000 lb, but the engines behaved totally different, the Buick supercharged v-6 pulled stronger off the line, the Northstar was stonger above 4,000 rpm, the Northstar made a beautiful v-8 sound, the 3800 moaned on full boost but got 3-4 more mpg on the hwy. Both needed premium gas, oozed oil, but were reliable.Both had 4 speed hydramatic tranny's and both provided ample passing power and were superior to my '86 IROC-Z 305/215 HP

    the Aurora V8 had the infamous northstar v8 by Cadillac these motors where known for blowing head gaskets and this car featured the same engine as in those Cadillac's from the time period.

    • @mellyzaurora1277

      They blow for not switching out the old dex cool coolant system must be flushed to prevent blown gaskets

    • @deutschecreme3143
      @deutschecreme3143 4 года назад +3

      @@mellyzaurora1277 Wrong, in fact the term "blowing head gasket" is wrong, they never blow, what the issue was the head bolts thread depth wasn't deep enough, but the head bolts were too narrow from the start so any deeper cuts would've been no better; but that flaw combined with being mated into an aluminum inset, seeing as the whole block is aluminum, couldn't handle the high compression ratio banging into the top of the block; so the result was the compression forcing the threads to fail, or condensation getting into the inset and rusting, causing the bolts to fail.
      The dexcool issue is a fallacy, the only thing there that could kill the engine was the coolants mixing and creating blockage and making it harder to cool the block, and to fall to that issue denotes a crappy coolant flush.

  • @clover831

    People rightfully mock Oldsmobile garbage like the Bravado (ugh what a turd) but the 1st gen Aurora was pretty nice and looked great. Can't knock it at all.
    That said, comparing it against an LS400 is delusional. Then Old's had the gall to run a 0-60 against an older LS400 with the 4 speed auto and the 260 hp/tq V8, vs the newer LS400 with the 5-speed and the 290 hp/tq V8.
