  • Who knew that a city of 9 million could have such an amazing swimming hole?? 😍 Better swim out to the middle, though, because the fish in the shallow area have really sharp little teeth 🤣🐟

There're some of the most magnificent stone beasts ever (trust me I've traveled a lot!) guarding tombs of southern Chinese emperors 1,000 years senior to the Ming tomb, about 40 minutes drive out of city center, including the actual original Qilin (namesake of one of Nanjing's suburbs) which is vastly more lively, artistic and VOLUMIC than later versions. Definitely check them out if you'd ever gonna visit back again.

Another great video that I have so much to relate. Nanjing aquarium was the place I first saw and touched a star fish when I was a 9-year-old. And the lake you were swimming in is actually a infamous spot that has been known probably for generations. However, Zixia lake seems to have at least one drowning accident every year during the summer. When I was a kid, my dad took me there and point at the lake and said something along the line of "if you went swimming in that lake, I will never allow you to go out with your friends again". But, man that looks like a lot of fun. Might have to give it a try when I have a chance to go back and visit.

In videos of people swimming on RUclips in China , I notice it’s mostly elderly men who swim . I assume women ( especially young women your age ) in China don’t know how to swim and those who do know just want to avoid getting tanned because of the Chinese obsession with having extremely pale skin . It’s a pity because swimming is so refreshing and also really good for you . Also, a little vitamin D never hurt anybody . I live in Europe and here , locals of all ages and gender love to swim in the lake and are very active ( they love the outdoors ). You’ll see extremely young kids swimming fearlessly in the middle of a very deep lake . I think that’s admirable teaching your young ones to appreciate and love the outdoors from a very young age .

My family went to visit the Ming's tomb in 2018 and it was a fabulous experience. We don't recommend do the visitation during the summer. It was too hot and it took away the enjoyment of discovery. The place is vast and it requires multiple visits to see everything. Disappointed about the tomb! All we saw was a sign says "the tomb is hidden behind the forest"!

@@zyctc000 Hey! Most of the cases are in Jiangning District's Lukou Subdistrict. It's still not as bad as major cities of other countries but most of the monuments and attractions are closed. People are not going out and shopping complexes are mostly empty - which is certainly a good news since it's gonna help prevent the spread of the virus.

You have been so complimentary in introducing the city of Nanjing to the world. I hope that you can find a work locally and stay. Now that at least you are not leaving China, you are always welcome to visit.
