Had an idea for a virtual and reality theme park to encourage the kids and adults too, to just dive into music and start creating. In participating communities, studios begin to spring up all over the USA and any participating countries. So musicians, teachers, videographers etc can just gather create, practice and perform / record and also do live venues. So then peeps got the opportunity to not only create and perfect their music with the support of communities, but also they can go to virtual session, for all the same, and if they want to take the fam for history and rides and park activities , then they can attend the property theme parks. So its a massive idea, I'll try to launch it through CASH Initiative project development to get a rapid broad awareness and investment campaign going. I'm also a huge Donna Summer fan, so I was thinking on calling it McAuthor Park. No limits to artists and genres. The idea will generate investors so don't get nervous. I don't have bad ideas and I don't approve of shark tanks. I'm not asking your approval my friend, just sharing the beauty of my brain for your entertainment value! lol. In 1985 I spent my last $50 buying these exact albums in a box set, before The Bridge was released. I only had the Innocent Man album and heard a few tracks off of 52nd St and was a bit nervous at buying 10 albums. In my experience albums only ever had 2-3 good tracks, but Innocent Man was start to finish fantastic, so I bought the set and listened to them in chronological order. Obviously I knew plenty of singles, but not one track was a skip, by the time I was half way through Streetlife Serenader I could hardly wait for the next track. Can’t name a favourite album, but Scenes From an Italian Restaurant and Big Man On Mulberry Street absolutely blew me away in my first live concert, and New York State of Mind and Vienna would be my favourites from the first time I heard them.
Innocent Man is my all time fav, though. 🤫

The funny thing is that I have all of these on vinyl because when hunting for vinyl rarities (almost 18 years ago now) at all the thrift stores, vinyl music shops and garage sales... there was always one artist whose albums you were sure to see in any box of vinyl records... the incredible artist who sold millions of albums and was in everyone's record collection... Billy Joel!
Yes!!! I myself have The Stranger, Streetlife Serenade, and The Nylon Curtain! They are all fantastic listens and hold up well.
The stranger is genuinely my favourite song. I'm a lyricist. Kat Bush Sat in my lap is my number 2. I like song's that say something and the stranger does that . It's genius.

Notice what's missing from this promotional video? A single word on the source, mastering and pressing details of this vinyl box set. Fools and their money are quickly parted. Contrast that with the 2014 The Beatles in Mono vinyl set which had mastering notes for every album, confirming the original analogue mono masters were used, cut directly from tape in an all analogue chain and pressed at Optimal in Germany. That's how you do vinyl boxsets folks! I'll stick to the SACDs of the Billy Joel albums from MOFI. Direct DSD transfers from the original stereo analogue tapes.

I've seen people on amazon say it's only his first 5 albums and Songs In The Attic and the 1975 live concert, but its like, did you forget Cold Spring Harbor exists, and was his first album? Or did you not know? And how do you not know when you've bought this collection? confusing
anyway a lot of these apparently have qc issues but my vol 1 is fine, my vol 2 arrived with some nice damage at the top tho, unfortunate. Not returning it for fear of receiving that live from long island fucked up copy

Truly one of the greatest to ever exist!! A master of music, songwriting, performing, singing and playing. He is in the same class as McCartney and Lennon in my opinion. His live shows are amazing, even in his 70's. I'm honored to have met him and his band on numerous occasions. A true gem!

Smart move including Songs in the Attic in this set. Essential Joel, with his band firing on all cylinders. Song power out the wazoo.
I as sorry to say the vinyl pressing leaves much to be desired. I don’t know where this was pressed for the UK market, the quality control is poor. Apart from the usual staining that seems to accompany vinyl today the sound quality is mired by distortion and quiet sections sounding like a wind tunnel. The first order has been sent back, now the replacement is being returned for a refund. So disappointing, so needless.
