      @andyvaldez212 4 года назад +1

      @@lazybeastz182 a modest 15% percent per trade return. Depending what you trade though, those numbers could be based on Price Action intraday so its not unusual to see 30, 40, 50% returns.. But inevitably that could result in similar size losses so, I've learned to keep in minimal BUT consistent, and that produces a consistently profitable equity curve; and that's all I care about.

    Comparison IS TRULY the thief of joy! I am just now watching this video a second time around and I've only just begun day trading a bit under four weeks now and how true the things you are talking about Tim! I'm totally guilty of this very thing where I was feeling inadequate just because other traders were making bigger profits than I was. I dared to take up bigger positions looking for that big pay day and they did blow up in my face. I'm glad I'm learning that now and plan on never comparing myself to anyone else's progress and simply focus on what works best for me. Thank you Tim for this valuable lesson! Btw, totally love your "suit."

    I'm 6 years into my trading journey and still seeking consistency. It's difficult to not beat yourself up for repeating the same crucial mistakes after you feel like you've given so much time and effort to trying to fix them.
    What keeps me going is focusing on self-growth each month. If it wasn't for my journal providing me with hard evidence that I'm making progress I'd really be doubting if my dream of becoming a full time trader was possible. But I'm certain it is now that things are starting to come together for me.
    Self-awareness has proven to be key in removing mistakes. Log them. Identify patterns. Experiment with different methods to interrupt or prevent them. Execute. Reflect. Repeat over and over again.
    I wish everyone the best of luck on their own journeys. Relentlessly pursue improvement each month and remind yourself every day why this is important to you.

    • @gabrieladjei5174

      To be fair buddy if you have been trading for 6 years and still struggling then you need real help.

    • @eightbo
      @eightbo 6 лет назад +3

      @@gabrieladjei5174 Haha. That's the exact same thing I was saying to other traders when I was in my first couple of years. I was probably in denial for a long time. Told myself I was 'just around the corner' however the reality is because successful trading goes against the grain of human nature, depending on your personality things can take a long time for a trader to eradicate all their mistakes. I was a lazy instant-gratification seeker when I started out.
      To put things in perspective, due to blowing up accounts and being away from the markets my 6 years is actually more like 18-24 months if I was trading full-time, but I was still spending an hour or two on trading pscyhology or considering methodologies which may help interrupt my bad habits etc. during that time so that may produce a slightly misleading result.
      I'm not saying I'm completely there but I make mistakes less frequently now than ever before, and when they happen I've at last found methodology which seems to work at interrupting the mistake and walking away rather than going off the rails chasing etc. Just walking away as per your plan sounds so simple but when the emotions are flying and you don't have a risk manager to pull your capital as you would in say a prop. firm, you really have to be self-accountable in following your plan. For me that kind of thing is developed mostly away from the markets and as I literally have had to change the way approach life in general to get to where I am now.
      Plenty of successful out there who have taken time to find profitability e.g. Trader Dante (7 years).
      Who knows, maybe I'll still be making huge mistakes in a few years time, maybe I won't. One things for sure though - I'll keep at it and work relentlessly until I find out.
      Best of luck on your journey.

      Couple of comments. First, that's awesome that you have a journal to begin with AND actually using it. Kudos to you for that. My second comment as a newer trader is, how come you're still repeating the same mistakes if you've experienced them multiple times before? What happens to where you repeat same mistake? It can't be just that you forget, right? I'm strictly asking from a learning standpoint, not trying to judge. Thanks.

    • @victorbf124
      @victorbf124 4 года назад +1

      @@tnen559 Sometimes people like us struggle with that because, we take large pride in being right, so our mistakes on being wrong sufficates us. We want to be right, and we will loose untill we are right. It's called stubborness. It's not that easy to get over that. But once we all do, our mistakes will be long gone. But like Tim always says, watch out for that black swan, he will be ready to get you.

    Accepting losses has to be one of the most difficult elements of trading.
    I blew up a few accounts when I started out by trying not to lose.
    Became profitable once I realised and accepted that I needed to learn to lose before I could win.
    Sounds nonsensical, I know but it is a fact.
    Another gem was learning that successful trading was not about being right.........It's about doing the right thing by sticking with your trade plan and your strategy. You will have losses and you have to accept them.

    Tim, I want to thank you for your journey; it has been inspiring to me. You've seemed like the most down-to-Earth trader out there and I have considered you as my trading role model. However, after years of dealing with failures due to the struggles of trading psychology mixed with some Murphy's Law, I have been unable to grow my account while keeping up with the monthly expenses of life. It's frustrating to second guess myself so much. It is what it is. I never thought I'd get to the point where I am almost out of money which means I'm almost out of time. I just thought you should know you made an impact on my life regardless of my inability to succeed.

      Hey I also have been at it for several years only for my best trades to have been when I first started. It's a mental block that is our subconscious fulfilling the prophecy of us always being in lack, believing that we always fail, or saying to ourselves "I lose money all the time." Our subconscious believes what we tell it to be true.
      Money wants to be where it's safe. We must condition ourselves to believe that we are that safe place. This is for real. Why do you think those lucky people always win? Because they believe they will. They expect it. We have to change in our core how we believe about ourselves. Then you will notice a change in your trading for the better. Cheers!

    Great video, thanks Tim for sharing your experiences with newbies like me. One big thing I learned is tracking your setups, reviewing them for mistakes and then not making those mistakes anymore.

    I've recognized this pattern as well and I found that it is better to trade the next day pre-market. Nex to your criterias, the float needs to be under 20 million. Best scenario when the stock gaps down ~10% and gradually rise up. It usually starts at 9:00 AM.

    Thank you so much for sharing your trading experiences, they are really priceless. At the end of the day trading is difficult and very competitive, people that wants to succeed at this need to have a lot of different qualities but mainly they need to put in time and effort.
