Charlie was an artist before becoming a drummer.
    CR stands for Charles Robert.
    RIP Sweet Charlie. 💔
    Charles Robert Watts (2 June 1941 - 24 August 2021)
Hope to see ya in another universe Charlie.
Certainly NO one was more humble than dearest Charlie.
A true gentlemen with class. So sorry for his wife, family & closest friends. Heart will be heavy for some time.
    On a personal note:
I can't imagine Charlie not having a room in his house not set up with his drums and music collection. I can't believe Shirley could stop him from having a drum kit in his house to play as we willed.

Charlie Watts was never the most flashy drummer. He wasn't known for the frenzied solos of Cream's Ginger Baker, or for placing explosives in his kick drum like The Who's Keith Moon. Instead, he was the subtle, stoic heartbeat of The Rolling Stones for almost 60 years. We all Brazil fans will miss Charlie... RIP 🇧🇷

A bit more of trivia: Charlie was a huge fan of the American Civil War and had amassed quite a valuable collection of artifacts from that time. Along with Shirley they raised Arabian horses and also dogs. No wild parties and such; he loved a quiet home life. I have a deep respect for the man. Mick probably had that right hook coming for a long time.

When she got there, as the newest student, she was told her first assignment was to tend to a horse that was recovering from surgery. Drums and drum gear owned and played by the very greatest historical jazz drummers going back probably to the 1920s. I hope a book or museum collection of what he gathered becomes available and visible - what a thrill that would be.

Charlie's playin' on "Satisfaction", sealed the deal for me. I was goin' to be just like Charlie. No flashy solos ... that was nonsense. But I strived, to get good enough; to make my bandmates, sound at their best. Otherwise what's the point. Thanks for leading the way, Charlie - Rest in Peace.

While you did mention his marriage, it would definitely be worth noting that Charlie always maintained that he was completely faithful to his wife. I wonder how many guys having women continually throwing themselves at them (particularly when they're on the road, away from home) could say that. If anything, even more than his drumming, that deserves to be acknowledged as his most amazing accomplishment for which he has always earned my respect.

Wonderful drummer and human being. I always enjoyed his interviews breaking down the dynamic of the band, especially the relationship between Richards and Jagger. He said that Keith Richards was the leader of the Stones, while Mick Jagger was the frontman. Makes me wonder if Charlie Watts was the foundation for that relationship to endure.

I think it's time to retire the Stones. There are only 2 left out of the original five. So, hard to think of them as the Stones. Jagger and Richards tour as Jagger and Richards (or Vice Versa or as Versatile Vice).

Reaching 80 is a feat in of itself, but to be a Rolling Stone for almost what? 60 Years of that truly must have been an amazing life, and I'm sure he enjoyed every minute if it. To be an intragal part of Rock and Roll history will be his legacy, and likely not to be forgotten as the drummer in one of the most influential bands to come across the pond besides the Beatles. He's probably singing "I'm just waiting on a friend "
