IMHO there was a handful of things that brought our Bears back to respectability this season. 1. Dedicating the resources to the program. NIL money helped bring a higher quality of athletes. Paying the money necessary to bring in the quality coaches especially on offense necessary to put an exciting offense on the field. Retaining the players and coaches will be instrumental in our continued success. 2. Coach Aranda's willingness to abandon his regimented style of defense in favor of what was needed at the time. At 2-4 the bye week was used to simplify the defense. Several players commented that allowed them to play more and think less. 3. Sawyer Robertson taking over at quarterback. He has all the tools in smarts, height, weight, arm strength and touch and his natural leadership skills. Not the least is his willingness to sacrifice his own body for the betterment of the team. 4. The amazing improvement of the offensive line. They grew so much it's still turning heads. Not only the ability to protect the quarterback but to do so with very few penalties. Also their ability to let me stress my fifth point which is... 5. The emergence of the running game. In particular Washington and Pendergrass helped the team where it really counted. Nothing against Reese but Washington and Pendergrass used strength and power and the ability to follow the blocks of the O-line to success. This running game breaking out was equally important as Aranda's adjustments, the overall quality of players, the great offensive coaching and the emergence of Robertson. This team overachieved in the vast majority of how people viewed their abilities. They became a team in every sense of the word. The coming bowl game is but a small kudos to the achievements reached this season and as a long-time fan I couldn't be happier considering 3-9 and a 2-4 start. Our Bears ARE KOOL!!!
I need some help. I know almost nothing about NIL. Could you briefly discuss NIL - sources of funding, restrictions (guessing not many), how dollar amounts are determined, who receives money (do all team members receive something or do only the big dogs receive money), etc.
Neal Brown is out at WVU? What ? 6-6 is blah, blah blah and he was trying to sell that as if it is okay... OMG !! He was tired of the fan base , he is still a good guy but it was too much for him this time around. Tough breaks and some he brought on to himself, Greene was a good QB but not good enough at this level of play... he could not make the throws... Just goes to show Neal was not ready for this job. close but no cigar!!!
