    Think of the first 2 acts as Freddy and Jason doing a killing contest to see who can kill the most characters.

    • @Delta_Aves
      @Delta_Aves 8 лет назад +30

      In that case, Jason won by a landslide. Out of all the teens in the film, Freddy only manages to kill one of them.

    • @Joethelostone
      @Joethelostone 8 лет назад +9

      I was thinking freddy had 1 1/2 kills with the stoner kid being half Jason the other half Freddy, but yeah would've like to seen more freddy kills.

    • @SuperVideogamer
      @SuperVideogamer 8 лет назад +2

      Joethelostone Freddy never killed the stoner kid. Freddy just possessed him

    • @kaijud3941

      Freddy only killed one guy though....Jason killed everyone else.

    • @Joethelostone
      @Joethelostone 8 лет назад +5

      KaijuD You have to give Freddy credit for that kill he did possess him. Freddy could've easily killed the stoner kid he did have his powers back, but Freddy used the kid as a puppet to get Jason into the dream world. Freddy put that stoner kid on a silver platter for Jason.

  • @micahhirsh8458
    @micahhirsh8458 8 лет назад +64

    I think it's explained in the original NOES that Freddy is going after teens because they were the surviving children of the parents who rounded up the mob that killed him. So he plans to kill all their children (who are now teens) as revenge. as they made more sequels eventually this concept was dropped, but that was the initial idea.

    • @DarthRushy
      @DarthRushy 8 лет назад +7

      In Nightmares 3 and 4, he finishes off the Elm Street kids and then the plot actually focuses on him struggling to find a loophole so he could expand to other children.

    • @micahhirsh8458
      @micahhirsh8458 8 лет назад

      DarthRushy
      The loophole is "Every town has an elm street" a BS excuse to make endless sequels if I've ever heard one.

    • @DarthRushy
      @DarthRushy 8 лет назад +3

      Micah Hirsh Nope, that's actually from the last regular movie, when they gave up on the sequels.
      In Nightmare 4, the loophole is that one of the kids has the power to bring other people into her dreams, and Freddy uses her to obtain victims.

    • @ProJatior
      @ProJatior 8 лет назад

      DarthRushy That is why part 4 is a bad sequel. I don't care what other fans say. I'd rather watch the remake at that point it's far less painful.

    • @DarthRushy
      @DarthRushy 8 лет назад +3

      ProJatior
      Oh hell no. I'd much rather have silly sequels than remakes. At least Nightmare 4 has some creativity, and looks visually good. Englund's Krueger is unbeatable and Alice is a decent Final Girl.
      Plus, the dream powers were actually introduced in Nightmare 3, by Wes Craven himself.

    I think what happened with Freddy vs. Jason thing is they tried so hard to give a reasonable story that got the two characters together, that they ended up writing too much likely due to things they felt they needed to explain so they ended up cutting all of the stuff people wanted to fit in the reason why/how.

  • @JasonthePunk

    The whole Jason afraid of water thing, I always took it to mean that in his head, in his dreams/nightmares/subconscious, Jason is afraid of water but he's not really in real life, because he does hang out in the lake a lot. But in his nightmares, he is. It makes more sense if you think of it that way because dreams are weird like that.

      It definitely was. All Friday Films are, including Jason X, which canonically happens a few years after Freddy Vs Jason.
      Also, if you're a gamer.... The Friday the 13th game has gone out of the way to tie up all the plot holes in the franchise using, "The Tommy Tapes".
      It's essentially interview's with the character Tommy Jarvis, in which it explains the greater timeline of the series and the plot holes (Such, in Part 5 they say Jason was cremated, yet he clearly wasn't in part 6).
      Also, it ties a lot of other Slasher films into the Friday universe. Like, Tommy Jarvis was temporarily a patient at the same Asylum Michael Myers was in. It's pretty cool shit.

    Just a couple clarifications: Jason was never afraid of water, but in Jason Lives, they defeated his by drowning him in Crystal Lake, because it was his original resting place (due to him dying there as a child) so there was some precedent for the fear of water thing. Also, New Nightmare was set outside of the main Elm Street continuity, so Freddy v Jason takes place after Freddy's Dead. And FvJ takes place between Jason Goes to Hell and Jason X.

    The water thing was never made explicitly something he's afraid of or his weakness, but it has served as both throughout the series. In Jason Takes Manhatten, it's a flooded sewer that turns him into a child again, in a couple of other movies he's defeated by being put into the lake. Given he drowned in the lake as a child, it certainly makes sense. And there is evidence for it, even if it hadn't been explicitly said.

    In the original Friday the 13th, Jason was dead. His mother was the one killing the campers.
    She blamed the kids for her son's drowning, since all the counselors were either having sex or getting high (Horror Tropes Assemble!)
    So, I assume the fear of water comes from that. I can't recall anything else without Googling it.

    I think that one of the only really great crossovers is the 2004 Alien Vs Predator movie. It has it;s fair share of problems but just seeing these to aliens on screen fighting is just so amazing and us poor humans getting caught up in the mix just makes me feel like them in that situation and how awesome and yet terrifying that would be. AVP is an example of getting things to an ok slandered then we look at something like AVP requiem that tried to hard to amp it up which made into a movie that missed so many marks that it basically becomes a failure. Amazing work as always Critic congratulations on hitting one million views on your review, seeing as how that is aboot how much you make per vid I hope you get that many subs one day. I completely agree with the fact that AVP Requiem is absolute shit but I can't quite say that the first one was any better. It was just fanfare to see them fighting on screen but the rest of it is mostly characters we don't care about, there are a few but not a lot and just silly decisions. I hope you review those films so that you further explain your point.

    • @fuxyews2177
      @fuxyews2177 8 лет назад +4

      Yeah, it was quite confusing as an addition, seeing as he spent, like, 30 movies basically living IN the water between camp visits, lol...
      Maybe he was just scared of visualized gravity and people thought it was the water itself that was the problem..

    • @Frredster
      @Frredster 7 лет назад

      I always thought the movie was insinuating it was a /subconscious/ fear Jason had. Jason (nearly?) drowned as a child, that's got to leave some sort of trauma or scarring on him even if he doesn't show it. Besides, Freddy is known for using peoples' subconscious fears against them; he's famous for it. Plus, with it being a subconscious fear, it wouldn't affect Jason in the real world; he'd be able to be under the lake no problem.

    If you guys are interested, in Friday the 13th, Jason isn't necessarily scared of water. In the films, he's stopped by being killed again in the lake, which is where he was originally drowned, like with a boat propeller, a gas tank like Jaws, ect. He doesn't show fear of the lake or water, but if FvJ takes place after Friday the 13th part 5-6, he'd have an understandable fear of water, before he left Camp Crystal Lake.

  • @Againstallodds20

    well In Godzilla vs King Kong, they only fight twice. but theres a good amount in between. Godzilla shows up & starts destroying stuff, Kong shows up starts destroying stuff Godzilla & Kong fight & then repeat. they build up the fights between the two by ( the army ) trying to find ways to stop them without having them kill each other & destroy everything. I love King kong vs Godzilla but in a lot of ways it doesn't hold up but at the same time its Godzilla so you kinda go along with the craziness.

    • @Againstallodds20
      @Againstallodds20 8 лет назад

      No, I haven't. Yes there is talking but when its on the army the talking is about there plan to stop Godzilla & Kong. Godzilla for the first half then Kong which leads to them just letting them fight & the first fight was about 2 minutes & the last one was about 10 minutes. that talking means something & actually leads to seeing them set up there plan & what happens. its the smartest the military as been in the Godzilla movies & i'd argue the search for kong is a needed scene to build to the fight. but the other characters the couples, the tv boss & his yes men are pretty boring & a waste of time but really that's Godzilla movies in a nutshell when it comes to the human characters.

    • @Justmyhandle
      @Justmyhandle 8 лет назад +3

      *Hmm, well, let's see here:*
      Jason is about to attack Freddy, then suddenly stops in the presence of falling water, and the tone changes color. He appears frightened and Freddy comments, *"So you are afraid of something after all."* Freddy then drenches Jason, who reverts to a helpless child as if remembering when he drowned, which happens to involve WATER.
      *Yeah, no idea how audiences may interpret from that scene that he was "insinuated" to fear water, lol. If that wasn't what was intended, maybe the writers should have thought their presentation through a bit more.*

    • @Justmyhandle
      @Justmyhandle 8 лет назад +1

      Obito Uchiha That doesn't matter if what we see onscreen doesn't convey it clearly enough for viewers to discern the writer's intention.
      Show this scene to anyone who hasn't already seen it or watched the Crystal Lake Memories documentary, I guarantee a majority of them will initially react: *"Why does he fear water?"*
      Even if this is Jason's subconscious mind, there's no distinct evidence to signify that and no clear difference between this dream world vs really any in the Elm Street series.
      Even when Freddy stabs into Jason's head, that doesn't say *"Wow, he must be pouring into his subconscious"*. It could just be him messing with Jason's mind again, he does that in various ways to a lot of characters.
      You can't blame audiences for making an interpretation based on what's shown to them because they didn't read into it enough or know what the writers were thinking at that time. That's the creators' responsibility in visual storytelling, to think it through.

    So theres a theory stating that the events of Jason X are actually a dream that Freddy created in order to test Jason and see how strong he was.
    Anyone else think that could be true.

    Side Track: Picard encountered the Borg after Best of Both Worlds, but they were incidental encounters with small groups or a singular Borg. And if recollection serves, they were always drones disenchanted/disconnected from the Hive Mind. He didn't encounter a full scale invasion again until First Contact. An invasion that nearly devastated Starfleet, had he not gone against orders and intervened. So he never had that level of stress to deal with again until First Contact. Stress directly related to his actions being responsible for the fate of Starfleet.

    Phantasm vs candyman
    Just some of ideas I have if you have some still would like to read them.

      You guys know that dimension films was going to make Helloween where Micheal and Pinhead, fought one another. John Carpenter would have directed it, while Clive Baker would have wrote. But before they got started on Production, Dimesion films did an online poll, to see if the fans wanted this movie, and it came back negative. Either because Micheal had no way of beating Pinhead, or due to Freddy vs Jason being such a bad movie (enjoyable but bad).
      And then there was Freddy vs Jason vs Ash, it would have been a movie if New Line Cinema hadn't stopped it, but at least that became a comic. That's more than I can say for most horror crossovers.

    I agree with the whole building up why they'd fight. I think either have him get his powers sooner or somehow have Freddy get into the real world. Like maybe when he was messing with Jason and Jason grabs him and wakes up. That's a good ten minutes of fighting right there.

    The Nightmare on Elm Street 2010 reboot is probably my second favorite. It takes itself much more seriously than what other installments did, to the cost of less comedical scenes, which I think works in its favor - it's just not that type of movie. Totally worth the watch!

    Jason was never seen being that afraid of the water unless you will count that trippy sewer scene in Jason Takes Manhattan. I think the reason why Voorhees suddenly goes fetal in FvJ is because, well, Freddy's homefield advantage. Fear is Freddy's source of power and I guess his realm just amplifies that.
    Still think Freddy could have save himself some time if he just disguised himself as Mama Voorhees again and just sweet talk Jason into "sleeping" again instead of provoking him into a fight...

    Well, from A New Beginning onwards, the Friday movies did get increasingly weird and creative. From the killer being the crazed father of one of Jason's previous victims, Jason being resurrected via a metal pole that got electrified via lightning, him battling a psychic girl and then going to Manhattan, and finally him turning out to be a weird worm parasite and heading off into space.
