    Well phil
    I find with a sod like that if you roll it ahead of the grass Harrow is does a super job
    Just barely have the tines tipping the ground
    Roll behind the Harrow then
    No sods dragged and good firm seed bed

      They prefer white clover as red clover corollas are too deep but if it's cut early the second flush will not have deep corollas also it crystallises so needs to be extracted after capping. I thought clover caused bloat in cattle/ cows

    Would personally prefer to ring roll before setting, and then flat roll afterwards so as the tiny clover seeds don't get lost, ie. buried too deep. But ye got away with it, so well done!

  • @lesleydumigan1308
    @lesleydumigan1308 2 года назад +1

    Good job folks, what do ye intend to do with it cut or graze? With the high cost of fertiliser it should be on every farm. I had 4 acre of it straight stand only cut and baled it cows loved it and it worked well.

    I use a fiona drill with the grass seed settings sown shallow and we just ring roll it afterwards works perfectly every time. Works OK with spinner but its not as accurate!

  • @684ih4
    @684ih4 2 года назад +6

    This will be great to see how this goes. I would love to see how the stitching with the grass harrow works out. I always sowed grass seed with a Vicon, but I only put in an acre bag at a time as I was afraid the clover seed would go to the bottom with the vibration

    • @Dave-jm5yo
      @Dave-jm5yo 2 года назад +2

      Ur dead right. The clover seed is heavier and will drop to the bottom. The wag tail has a superior spread pattern. Spinners tend to leave it in bands.

    • @sharkeyist
      @sharkeyist 2 года назад +1

      @@Dave-jm5yo ditto on the wag tail, i had golf course customer who made a very expensive greens seeder demo/sales goon a week later look silly with the banding you describe.

    Grew milvius and merviot varieties of red clover,tremendous crops,very heavy in first 2 cuts then 3rd and 4th were lighter. Mixed it with cocksfoot grass,not sure if that'd work where you are in Longford but when clover was gone after 3 years the cocksfoot continued well after. Don't graze red clover,it gets too damaged. Why spray it? I never did and lost nothing, when well established it'll storm off.

    I have a question first good vid when ye do silage for the customer do ye charge by the hour or acres

    • @seanoconnor1586
      @seanoconnor1586 2 года назад +2

      It’s by acre

    • @OOpSjm
      @OOpSjm 2 года назад +1

      The big contractors (current trend) are to charge by "feed value/silage value" tonnage. Samples are taken of the silage harvest and sent off to a lab for calculations done where the moisture and dry matter content are used to calculate the silage value. Using acre or tonnage harvested pricing doesn't take into account the actual silage/feed value of the crop harvested.
