The theory on why the oil is metallic is incorrect because the crankcase on a 2stroke is sealed off from the transmission so that’s probably from clutch or a lower end bearing
I was just thinking that 🤔🤣🤣🤣🤣 It all from the clutch , the oil is very very old and the clutch is very old as well 😳 All metal against metal inside of the gearbox is well worn in and won't be shaving off into the oil

Hey Joe, the plastic repair kits that have powders and a solvent will repair that fuel tank's cap. The solvent turns the powder into a solid plastic and it melts the new and old plastic together. Each kit can do many small or a few large cracks. Might save you some cask and also help you repair what might not be available. Nice score (Quad) Joe :)
No metal particles from the piston, rings nor the wall of the cylinder should ever end up in the transmission/clutch oil. They are separate parts of the machine. After seeing what came out of the oil level check hole, I believe you have an engine with a new crank. That thing that came out looks like a little case sealant. If you are curious about what's in that old oil, you can wrap a magnet with Curran or plastic wrap , dip it in the oil and see if any ferrous particles stick. Send a sample to be checked by a lab if you'd like to know what else is in there. It'll give you loads of information about the health of your engine.
I was thinking it was either gasket maker or an o-ring that was on that oil check bolt. I haven't messed with a 250R in decades. Don't remember if the oil check bolt had an o-ring or not.
