The Açafal Dam, built over the Açafal River, is located in the parish and municipality of Vila Velha de Ródão, district of Castelo Branco, Portugal.
The dam was designed in 1997 and began operating in 2004.
Dam
It is an embankment dam (zoned land). It has a height of 29 m above the foundation (26 m above the natural terrain) and a crown length of 121 m (width 7.5 m). The volume of the dam is 138,000 m³. It has a maximum discharge capacity of 1.5 (bottom discharge) + 188 (flood spillway) m³/s.
Albufeira
The dam reservoir has a floodable surface at NPA (Full Storage Level) of 0.2 km² and a total capacity of 1.79 Mio. m³ (useful capacity of 1.79 Mio. m³). The water levels in the reservoir are NPA of 112.6 meters and NMC (Maximum Flood Level) of 114.75 meters.

A albufeira da barragem tem uma superfície inundável no NPA (Nível de Armazenamento Total) de 0,2 km² e uma capacidade total de 1,79 Mio. m³ (capacidade útil de 1,79 Mio. m³). Os níveis de água na albufeira são NPA de 112,6 metros e NMC (Nível Máximo de Inundação) de 114,75 metros.
