I mean it truly makes sense when ya look at both the novel and movie. Kong saw the pain in shimo’s eyes and when they were back in what is now kong’s new home. She let him pet her, showing she is loyal and now Kong’s biggest friend and a big ally to him
As soon as I saw Shimo in the movie, I fell in love with her. I think she's an amazing Titan and just wants peace. I am happy that they both, Kong and Shimo now got each other's back, just like Godzilla has Mothra as his biggest ally.

If tv documentaries are correct sometimes herbivore dinosaurs would attack each other for just crossing each others path, I remember this one time baby herbivore dinos were running from a predator, they pass an adult Stegosaurus who wacks one of them with it's tail for no reason, killing it, only then does he see the predator.

Shimo is an original Legendary character unlike Rodan so they don't need to pay for licensing. But she is the first MV original Kaiju to achieve "god level' status in the Monsterverse, she can probably rank right up there with Ghidorah, Mecha Godzilla, Space Godzilla, Destroyah and Monster X as the most powerful of all Kaiju.

She decided to return to the only place she knew for several centuries. She's can't live on the surface because she would mess with our weather patterns. She bonded with Kong and will reside with the Great Apes under the rule Kong who is now King of the "Great Apes and Ruler of the Hollow Earth. She's a peaceful Titan but make no mistake that she doesn't fear Godzilla. I'm sure she respects Godzilla's wishes of "You can't CHILL here".

It makes sense that Kong wanted to set her free versus fighting her, not just on the power difference, but that in the film Kong was always on the defensive around Shimo. Either choosing to evade or using his glove to block her ice attacks.

One thing I’ve learn about Kong is that, physically, he’s the most powerful titan just in arms alone.
Goji has to use his whole body to throw others around kinda like a sumo wrestlers while Kong only in arms can handle other titans like a bodybuilder that learned proper striking.
It seems like Kong now has his own queen of hollow earth like Godzilla has his queen of the surface through Mothra and the relationships might be more them symbiotic

@@Azrael-2025 Those films were during the Kaiju craze in Japan. Mothra is now under the Godzilla franchise and he is now her King and she is his Queen. Mothra can knock down Godzilla and other Titans but doesn't have the capabilities to kill any large Titan. Mothra is only the" Queen of the Titans" that Godzilla controls. She has no place with Kong and his Great Apes hierarchy and Shimo. Remember that Mothra now is "Defender" of the Iwi and ally to Godzilla. Kong is "God" to the Iwi. It's unique how Mothra and Kong are now interwined.
they're making Godzilla out to just be a dick at this rate. Just mindless doing whatever. Ignoring the fact he's just doing his job, protecting the Earth and making sure the other titans stay in line and continue to help the earth. Scylla for example is titled a destroyer titan like ghidorah. Scylla was loyal to ghidorah because of it and only kneeled to godzilla at the end of king of the monsters for her own benefit and survival. It was her job to keep the ice caps frozen. But she plotted to take down godzilla and take his place as the alpha titan, taking radiation from power plants and so on. Godzilla was only tolerating her but was aware of what she was doing. She stepped out of line when she started to melt the ice caps instead of keeping them cold and then she attacked the city and at that point Godzilla was done with her and killed her. That's why he did that in the beginning of the movie. A loose end tied up. In a novel godzilla protected Beheamoth cause his shit helps forests grow back so despite his judgement of not wanting to get involved in the fight he intervened and saved him due to his importance. He only attacked humans when they attacked him, a titan attacking a sub for its radiation and godzilla got involved but the humans started shooting at him instead which prompt him to fight back.
In Godzilla vs Kong he wasnt a villain. He just got the alpha calls from mechagodzilla, it was a threat to him and he did NOT like it. He only went to the cities looking for ghidorah and or mechagodzilla, whatever the source of the alpha call was. He didnt attack humanity for the hell of it. He was searching, asserting his dominance as the alpha titan of Earth.
But in Godzilla X Kong he got not only little screen time but was shown to be a brute who attacked kong just because. Only coming down to Mothra to calm him down and get him to help in the fight. Otherwise he'd kill kong right then and there. This ISN'T how Godzilla is. He's not evil, he's not a mindless monster. He's protecting the Earth and doing his job. He fights threats, he's the reason the skar kings reign came to an end cause he trapped them. Sure Shimo was also stuck as a victim of skar king but better than skar king conquering Earth. Without godzilla things would of taken a turn for the worst
Why did he hate Kong tho in the GvK ? I mean I saw him there more like a dick than the 2024 movie cause he attacked him on a boat with the chains on and I still don't know why ? I mean he surely saw that it was humans trapping him and helpless ?
Godzilla attacked Kong for a reason. Near the beginning of the movie, it was said that the two agreed to live in peace "as long as they don't venture into each other's territories". That means Kong needed to stay in the Hollow Earth while Godzilla ruled the surface. When Kong came up to look for him, he broke that rule, and Godzilla was likely already riled up from having to take out two troublemakers in a row (Scylla and Tiamat) *while* the Iwi's distress call was ringing in his mind. Kong understandably defended himself, and managed to briefly stun Godzilla, however because of that, Godzilla now fully deemed Kong as a threat (plus he already had a personal bias against the great apes because of the past war, and not to mention the time he got kicked out of his old home by one of them when he was younger) and decided he had enough of him. Indeed, had it not been for Mothra, Kong would be dead, but Godzilla wasn't senselessly out to get him.
He's only a mindless monster to those who don't look into the details to try and understand his actions, and he's been misunderstood since the beginning.
Godzilla is a veteran of the last war against Skar King. He knows how much damage that Skar King's followers can do, not to mention he knows Shimo is now a slave to Skar King.
In GvK, when Mechagodzilla was letting out an autotuned version of Ghidorah's alpha call, he was worried other titans would listen to it. With Kong, he was worried that the last son of the Skull Island apes was an ally of Ghidorah, and now an enemy. That is why he fought Kong, to make him submit to the true king of the Titans and ensure he was not an ally of Ghidorah.
As for Scylla and Tiamat in New Empire, both were disloyal ajd threatening humans, not to mention he was not in the mood to take his time in evicting Tiamat from her new home, especially when she was a potential threat.
When Kong came up to the surface, after the two basically had a treaty in place of Kong ruling Hollow Earth, Godzilla the surface, he was again thinking Kong was a follower of Skar King, and so moved to execute him.
He is definitely not Ghidorah, but he is not above executing other titans if needed. And I personally see what he did in New Empire before the climax as him acting almost on impulse, trying to gain more power for the war he knew was coming. Now that Mothra is back, chances are he'll be more benevolent nowz especially with her around to help keep the titans in check.
I can see Godzilla's brutality here, but Scylla had it comming after 2 rounds with Godzilla before the move, in the comics, and Godzilla did blast the ice to get Tiamat out of it, he even roared at her after that. She could had left, but she desided to figth, and you know what happened then.
Godzilla was more angrier in this movie yes, but he was busy with getting powered up, and he only after blood on Scylla and kong. (Tiamat was given a chance to leave, why he didnt blast her the second she came out, and roared first)

Shimo And Kong shows empathy to one another, and shimo knows that Kong is trying to help her so Shimo does have intelligence
I honestly quite like it. Kong's kindness and empathy is what sets him apart. Totally makes sense that his first instinct was to help Shimo and that he really doesn't go after her in the movie (outside of the attempts to free her). And it's what gained him such good allies in this last movie. No doubt that Shimo will be of huge help for any unexpected drama waiting in the future. Both of them have been through a lot and yet now can find a sense of belonging as allies.
It hypes me up for the future. The status quo has gotten really interesting with Kong now having a people of his own in Hollow Earth and a calm and fairly peaceful ally in Shimo. He's happier than he's ever been.

@@tylerk.hadaller7939 Suko destroyed the crystal, but he wouldn't have if Kong didn't influence him with compassion and kindness. Suko stood up to Skar King instead of being afraid of him. If it weren't for Kong, Suko wouldn't have changed. Plus, Kong was the only who was actively trying to get the crystal while Godzilla didn't even bother destroy it when it was close to him.
That is a friendship blossoming.

Have a theory that Shimo might have some connection to the Great Apes before being subjugated by the Skar King. Maybe the Skar King took advantage of that to capture Shimo in the first place

We can see that prove in moment before Shimo freeze Skar king, she look at Godzilla for confirmation before releasing the breath after she see what look like confirmation from Godzilla.
She acknowledges that he’s the king, but she never looked at him as if she was saying “give me confirmation”. Shimo was confused and didn’t know what to do, since she has been enslaved for so long, and Godzilla roared at her, but that doesn’t mean it was in a sense of “I command you to kill him”. So yes, she acknowledges his status as king, but that doesn’t mean she’ll obey him.

@@TheAshlight41 She did actually look at Kong. Remember when you see Skar King being choked and held in the air? Yeah, she looked at him, and she looked at Godzilla because she was CONFUSED. There was no “Godzilla what should I do?”. She NEVER looked for a COMMAND, it was just confusion, since Skar King raised his arm, but the pain of the crystal wasn’t there. Godzilla roared at her, but it WASN’T A COMMAND. Regardless of your head canon, it doesn’t change the fact that her loyalty is only to Kong.

I don't think Kong ever hit her. She's always blasting him with her breath but he never struck her. Godzilla was going ham on her the whole time so she latched onto Kong.
Shimo seems to need a leader/master because maybe she's not intelligent. Scar was her first one and when her collar was removed she didn't know what to do. Scar was calling her to help him when Kong had him by the throat but she wasn't sure so she looked to Godzilla for orders who told her to blast Scar which she did. She went with Kong, let him ride her like a horse and he petted her like one.
Kong did punch her, but only in the GxK novel and I’m pretty sure it was one time. The chapter is 287 and it says
“He forced his yellow arm into her mouth, shivering as the cold finally began creeping up his arm. Then he boxed her with all the strength he could find in his other arm. Her head snapped back. The cold stopped.”
Shimo is in fact intelligent enough and doesn’t need someone to control or command her. As she lived by herself and has even faced Godzilla in the past. Which is why he knew he needed to evolve. Skar King uses the hollow earth crystal, which is apparently her weakness. She never went “I need a master” and chose the wrong one. Godzilla roaring at her also wasn’t him ordering her to attack Skar King. It was more like “You’re free” since you can see the confusion on her face. And like the video says, she stays with Kong because he was the first kaiju to have shown her something that wasn’t fear in who knows how many years.
It's hilarious how at first fans believed that Kong would be afraid of Shimo in their first encounter (this caused by the trailers of course) in the end while Kong never showed fear of facing Shimo (to the point of wanting to help her) Godzilla was the one who was afraid of Shimo (as explained in the novel)
Since his first appearance on Skull Island, the monsterverse have made it clear to us that Kong is not afraid to face any opponent even bigger than him. From facing Skull Devil in his adolescence to facing Godzilla and even if he lost to him, he didn't bow to him.

I can definitely see her holding back at the first interaction. He held that axe for a bit before dropping it but when she froze scar king it was pretty fast.
And still critics say that the movie has no meaning or emotion.

I gotta admit, Shimo being the reason why King Ghidorah is pretty good world building to explain how he was encased in Ice in the first place given his objective.
(Note: In terms of scailing. Godzilla's new found power is more powerful than the form he took to take down King Ghidorah.)
Actually now that you mention it we do see Shimo almost effortlessly freeze Godzilla in a cocoon of ice yet she didn’t do that to Kong.
Man I really hope for the next movie (apart from it being Godzilla focused like Adam wants it to anyway), we get some epic Kong and Shimo team-up action

I’m praying we get a Godzilla x Kong movie with Destroyah. That would be a great movie because Destroyah is one of if not the most powerful Titan, since he’s made of millions of organisms. Like I feel that would be a very difficult but very amazing movie

Since Shimo is the one who caused the ice age, than I wonder if she did because it was the after effect of freezing Ghidorah. Like in order to freeze him over she also had to freeze the globe.

I was expecting so much from this movie.
But sadly it was just Godzilla preparing for a Tagteam match, and Underutilized Villian as well as reducing Shimo to just a pet.
Basically this was just a Kong movie with Side characters.
Love how many comments are talking smack about Godzilla and Mothras relationship and comparing it to Shimo and Kong. Like they seem to forget how Mothra resisted King ghidorahs alpha call and sacrificed herself for Godzilla and how Godzilla was legit happy to see Mothras return.
Also the wiki stating at one point:
"Godzilla's species lived alongside Mothra, and Mothra and Godzilla had a warm, symbiotic relationship."
Shimo and Kong do indeed have a very amazing bond but it is certainly not greater than Mothra and Godzillas.

Actually I'll like to address the axe first, that axe is made from a gojira specimen, and another massive titan, Godzillas dorsal plates survived him falling untop of them from orbit, that same axe took Godzillas atomic breath, even if it absorbed it, the extreme temperatures is another thing to consider, it also didn't even get damaged after that massive impact to Godzillas head, so yeah, it can definitely take on a full blast from Shimo, but one thing I believe everybody is overlooking is the fact that, Shimo might not be docile at all,as a matter of fact she could be down right deadly, she might have a connection to Kong right now, but how long will it last, remember that she once fought Godzilla and caused an ice age, why would Amy docile titan do that, and Godzilla only goes after threats, I sincerely believe that freeing Shimo could come back to bite Kong in the rear nig time, because this titan is ancient, and has already proven to be a global threat more than once, no, I doubt she is as benevolent as everyone believes
Godzilla also goes after potential rivals, its why he went after Kong once he left skull island. Could be that Godzilla was going to fight Shimo anyway because she was supposedly the alpha titan before he was, and once she dealt with Ghidora, possibly working with Godzilla to do so, the big man decided it was time to challenge her for the role. The ice age might have been a side effect of freezing Ghidora or her duel with Godzilla. Also because Shimo causes things to freeze just by existing, its possible she was creating the ice age unintentionally just by being on the surface world, and like you said, Godzilla does attack things that disrupt the natural world.
@@Auzzymandias that's a very logical analysis, one that certainly carries weight, however, if you study how Shimo was going to create another ice age, just over rio, you'd know that it takes more than her presence to cause an ice age, and despite the multiple frostbite blasts she released, the entire city didn't freeze over, more over, the earth hasn't frozen over despite the massive glaciers we have, so I legitimately believe she froze the earth over on purpose, and that's what pissed Godzilla off,
@basixs88 very true, but counter point; Shimo was very likely holding back her full power in Rio, and if she wasn't the battle itself was very quick anyway, and after it Godzilla immediately shot a beam into the storm cloud Shimo made to get rid of it. Also I was more suggesting her presence being the trigger over a very long period of time. She freezes SEA WATER in BRAZIL the instant she gets through the portal just by being there, imagine what she's doing to the ambient air temperature. That sudden of a temp change would eventually make crazy storms as the super cold air mixes with warmer air. I do think over a long enough period of time, Shimo could cause an ice age just by living and moving around in places that aren't arctic zones.
