I discoverd ur channel around 2017.i was a student at the time.im a upholstery facilitator now and ur videos were and still are very dear to me.much love.
Thank you for your detailed, easy-to-follow video. I'm glad you mentioned the time it took you to complete your project. I imagine it might take me two months to finish my chair!
That’s what I like to hear Diane! We do also now have an online upholstery training academy if you want to have a look - it’s for beginners right up to more advanced skills www.thefaceliftacademy.com 😊🙏🏻
Excellent video! My chair is 95 percent same as this with very very minor differences I just bought second hand for $100. I want to change the leg style but it looks complicated because of the way they attach. Anyway … I paused your video to check my chair and just found a $20 bill tucked down the side 😮 way to go!
This is ABSOLUTELY BRILLIANT!!! EXACTLY what I need as an ex textiles teacher and costume designer! I thought there would be loads more sewing involved!!! This will be my first time upholstering ...a £10 bargain from Facebook market place!!! I just hope I can do it justice in some beautiful Harris Tweed! Thank you so.much for sharing your expertise and experience in such a chill way! I shall be watching this over and over as I complete my bargain Parker Knoll! Thank you!
I am from Algeria and I admire you for your explanation and simplification. You are talented and I am trying to learn from you ☺️ Thank you and I wish you more progress
We received this in the mail today! The packaging was fine, no damage during shipping thank goodness! The construction was very simple ruclips.net/user/postUgkxXH3jIpsn6vpr3D26KWAriUejh7CSxVp7 , the bottom rocking part and the ottoman were already put together for us which is nice!As for the actual quality, the wood seems fine.. Not too cheap but maybe not the quality you would find in a store for 400$. However, it is still sturdy and feels secure. I've only had it for one night, so of course no squeaking yet.. But if it does squeak it could be easily oiled. The cushions are comfy, and made of a suede like material. Obviously with time these cushions will probably wear and tear.. But for the price of the chair it is still worth it just to go out and buy new cushions that fit in the future.Overall I am very satisfied, I was a little worried after reading some reviews and looking through the photos, but I'm happy I bought it! Obviously it's not a heavy-duty chair, but with care I'm hoping it will last a while.
I just watch your chair that you upgraded the ones that you added the Hardwood to the front and the sides in the back bring the cushion up took out Springs and added webbing and the material was a flowers on a black backgrounds after watching this video I must finish my sofa because you hit every point that I might have asked the material was beautiful
Hiya this is brilliant, please could you advise why you’ve used both felt and Dacron? Could the felt be replaced with Dacron if you’re not looking to buy too many materials for the project or would Dacron not work where you’ve used the felt?
I tend to use felt as an under layer to the foam for comfort and for doming also. The dacron tends to go on top of the foam for extra padding and to stop the fabric from sticking. Hope that helps.🙏 For more detailed tutorials please visit www.thefaceliftacademy.com 🙌🙏⛏️🪡✂️🧷🧵
I have a wing back i want to do as a memory chair using mum and dads clothing do you think this is doable the chair i have is just one from amazon so no value really just both parents used it while ill just before passing i plan on using it by my log burner
I have seen this done with football shirts and only on office chairs. Yes in theory It will work but clothes aren't as strong as upholstery fabrics. I hope it all.works out for you. ⛏️📎🙏🧵✂️👍
I wouldn't recommend it tbh. I have seen people go over the old fabric though, as long as your new fabric is fire treated shouldn't be a problem. 😊🙏⛏️✂️🧵📐
I have an armchair that I want to reupholster. It just has an upholstered back and seat and has those long springs underneath the seat (they are shot) where do I get replacements?
Do you have any videos or tips on resizing a sofa? Turning a 3 seater into a 2 seater, I need to shorten mine, all local businesses/upholsterers have declined to do it but I don’t want to throw away my new sofa so will try to DIY 😬
Really enjoy you videos-very talented guy!! I am trying to learn from you cos I do enjoy an upcycle- to use not sell. Is there any chance of you covering a spring mounted sofa bed. Would be interesting how you cover around the bed part.
Brilliant results, so tempted to have a go at it myself. How much fabric do you think was needed to do a Parker wing chair? I have a very old family example in need of reupholstering. Thanks
Thank you so much for watching! It will be on a section of our website (www.faceliftinteriors.co.uk) and will include full length tutorials (much more detailed than on RUclips as it’s hard to get everything in one video in the time you have on here) from beginners level (including sewing) up to the more experienced tutorials. We want to make sure we have a good number of videos ready for the launch and then will keep adding to it as often as possible. But will let everyone know when it’s ready to launch 😊👍🏻
Hi Don! Thanks for watching! I buy mine from an upholstery supplier called Martin’s but you can get them from any upholstery supplier and even Amazon and eBay 😊👍🏻
Hi Naureen! I would normally wait for the glue to dry and try to peel it off and pray 🤣 or I would use thinners but that can harm the fabric so I try to avoid it where possible!
Thanks, this video has been super helpful. I made lots of notes! Do you have a pattern for the parker knoll arm fabric piece? Or do you take it from the original fabric you've removed? This is the piece I struggled with most in my only attempt at a parker knoll wing back
obrigado! para ser honesto, me disseram que falo rápido demais para pessoas que falam inglês como primeira língua 🤣 Tentei desacelerar em meus vídeos mais recentes!
Hi, just studying your video as currently trying to copy you. My chair is similar in shape. Is it possible to do the outside wing and outside bottom WITHOUT the cord and metal grippers. I don't really want the cord in my design, would prefer it to just all be smooth, cant figure out how to do it? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks
Hi there! Sorry for the delayed response - you don’t HAVE to use piping, you can use metal gripper without piping. I personally prefer the finish with piping but it’s not for everyone 😊👍🏻
Why is the old foam not replaced? I just find it nasty. I had a recliner upholstered twice until I decided to do it myself. The original 1985 foam was never replaced. It was disintegrated, falling apart, just terrible. Folks are just filthy. Even the Bible reads, "nor in new wine put into old wineskins"......
Hi Guys!! Come and follow me over on Instagram too 🙂👍 instagram.com/faceliftinteriors
How do you do the arm cover?
Machine sew. Use the old pieces as a pattern

Great review before starting on the twin wing chair to the one I did a few years ago. I’m excited to finally finish it.
That’s what I like to hear Diane!
We do also now have an online upholstery training academy if you want to have a look - it’s for beginners right up to more advanced skills www.thefaceliftacademy.com 😊🙏🏻
Thanku sooo much for showing proper ways and reasons why! Put lots onto perspective

Hi Sharon! Glad you found it helpful, thank you for watching and taking the time to leave a comment 😊
Beautiful work! So many curves were perfectly sculpted. A fine balance between shapes, tensions, symmetry, a master artist!✨
Your comments are always too kind, thank you so much for your support as always 😊🙏🏻
Superb content. I am so very grateful for your channel. You’re a true craftsman and highly entertaining in the presentation. THANK YOU for sharing!
Ahh that’s really kind, thank you Robert. Thank you for watching!! 😊
this is great but the bit I need is the front of the seat base and padded seat platform! Do you have a video showing that?
Not yet! But will be one on our Academy hopefully live by summer. ✂️📐📎🧵⛏️
Nice one Neil, great to see you again 😎👍
Thanks Jamie mate 😊👍🏻

Just wondering how you did the front edge of this chair?
I think it may have been the bit of the missing footage.
Have a new video coming soon on how to do the front. Keep your eyes peeled 👀 📐⛏️🧵✂️😊
Hi. Great video. I am just about to reupholstered a Parker Know sofa. Is there any problem with fire safety leaving the old fabric on the arms?
I wouldn't recommend it tbh. I have seen people go over the old fabric though, as long as your new fabric is fire treated shouldn't be a problem. 😊🙏⛏️✂️🧵📐
This is great but I was looking forward to watching you do the seat itself, do you have another video covering this?
I haven’t yet but I have plans to do one soon 😊👍🏻
Brilliant job, thank you for sharing your tips.
Thank you so much Barbara!!
Great video but I don't see where you took care of the deck of the seat. How is that done?
I have an armchair that I want to reupholster. It just has an upholstered back and seat and has those long springs underneath the seat (they are shot) where do I get replacements?
You should be able to buy replacement springs from upholstery suppliers 😊
Great video! Awesome work! 😊
Cheers Josh! And thank you for watching 😊🙏🏻

I haven’t got a video unfortunately but it if possible and have done them for customers previously but it is quite a big job.
Really enjoy you videos-very talented guy!! I am trying to learn from you cos I do enjoy an upcycle- to use not sell. Is there any chance of you covering a spring mounted sofa bed. Would be interesting how you cover around the bed part.
What size stapler do you use for something like that?
Awesome work..👍🏻
Thank you!! 😊👍🏻
Brilliant channel . Please keep them coming :)
You’re too kind, thank you so much! There’s definitely more to come 😊👍🏻
Fantastic job thank you

About time!!!
🤣 sorry bud! It has been a while!!
What is the spray you to stick to the foam
Hi there! It’s upholstery spray adhesive 😊👍🏻
Fantastic work! Thanks for sharing. Is there any more details on your tutorial website you mentioned at the beginning? Can't wait to check it out.

@@faceliftinteriors thank you! I'm an absolute beginner, so can't wait to learn from your videos. Sooooo looking forward it.
Hey. Great video. I’m going to attempt my first home project. Wondering where you buy the metal grippers? Cheers.
Hi Don! Thanks for watching! I buy mine from an upholstery supplier called Martin’s but you can get them from any upholstery supplier and even Amazon and eBay 😊👍🏻
If you were to get glue on the fabric by accident how would you get it off?
Hi Naureen! I would normally wait for the glue to dry and try to peel it off and pray 🤣 or I would use thinners but that can harm the fabric so I try to avoid it where possible!
It's all awesome
Thank you!! 😊🙏🏻
