Jimi Hendrix's mainstream career spanned only four years but he is considered one of the most influential electric guitarists in the history of popular music. Sadly he died at the age of only 27. He headlined the famous Woodstock Festival in 1969. He had a lot of great songs such as "Purple Haze", "Hey Joe", "The Wind Cries Mary", "All Along The Watchtower" etc.

I’m glad you appreciate him. I agree, there will never be another Hendrix. He was a pure genius. I saw him twice when I was young and I was never the same. Btw, The audience scenes are often not congruent with the performances because they often are spliced together from other parts of the show or from other performances.

To REALLY put him in perspective, he was left handed, and all guitars at the time were right handed, so he bought a right-handed guitar, and strung it upside down so he could play it!! TRUE!!!

The was numb like that because you got to understand the time back then 1967 , that his guitar player was very very rare and no one has ever heard or seen anyone play a guitar like that , when was at Woodstock in 1969 He came and start playing the star spangled banner on guitar 🎸 the crowd was so quiet because everyone and me was like what the F..k !! it was ASUM , I'm still in a state of SHOCK , I was very sad when passed away , he was a musical ICON !!!!!!

My first time seeing this video of Foxy Lady and some of his moves while playing guitar remind me of Prince. No doubt Prince watched some of his concert footage and did some of Jimi's moves.

Looking at it is actually dancing while playing is quite hard one wrong angle and you either hit the wrong string etc . He’s so calm and aware of what he’s doing it’s so cool

I don't think people, even today, appreciate the fact that he played left-handed on a right-handed guitar. He was HUGE in Britain before finally coming back to the USA. America took a while to grasp his genius. His birth name was John, given by his mother. His father, named James, came back from the war and after divorcing her changed his name to James.

The saddest part of the Hendrix story is that he could have been saved. The woman he was with never called for an ambulance. She called a couple of friends. The woman was from a wealthy German family and (IMO) I think she was only concerned about cleaning up the scene and deposing of HER drugs. When one of the friends arrived, he called for help but it was too late. The woman committed suicide in '96 after losing a lawsuit against Jimi's ''official'' girlfriend.

It’s cute Jimi played leftie on a right-handed guitar til Eric Clapton bought him a left-handed guitar. I’m sure he said , “You’re right, Eric, that is better.”
Then he set his guitar on fire and smashed it into his amplifier. ✌🏼🤣👍🏼

I heard somewhere that Jimi wrote this in about 15 minutes after watching 17-year-old Stevie Nicks perform at an outdoor venue & the wind blew her short skirt up to reveal yellow panties. I don't know if this is true or not, but it makes a good story, IMHO.
