  • LARCH MADNESS IS HERE... and gone. Not enough time to do a LARCH MARCH just an overnight adventure. Maybe next year things will go better to where we can get out for at least 3 nights among the Golden larch. At least we didn't miss peak color like last year! The bigger western larch are starting to turn in the valleys so the color isn't quite gone in Montana, just the colorful backpacking!

Great video! Love the views of the area! One of my favorite hikes was to Spruce Lake in the same area. Great to see the colors of fall. Larches are awesome! Hike on!

Love the Bitterroots! We started from that trailhead a couple years back. I was shooting up at that ridge from Fish Lake. The view from down there was pretty good, but nothing like it looked from the ridge! We'll probably do another trip from that trailhead as there are quite a few possible routes to go. Great video!

Cool trees for sure! Only have a few here in PA. I've never backpacked here but did raft the Middle Fork of the Salmon with the fam a few years ago for 5 days. Great trip if you get the chance and get tired of walking. Will get there in the next few years I'm sure. Looks barren of humans which is always good! Good stuff and thanks for the effort!!!

It has been an amazing (and warm) start to fall here in the Bitterroot! Been able to get out and tag peaks every weekend!
