Great video Jonathan! It's nice to see someone who knows how to show off the clean tones of these units. So many multi-FX processors I've used are terrible at clean tones. I'm glad to see this one really excels at the clean tones as well as distortions and other FX.
Great review of this ampero Jon, I’ve saw quite a few reviews of this unit, and no kiddin, yours is the simplest, most through and easy to understand review by far, thank, great job

It's a mini helix with touch screen, and its awesome, l love it. For the cost of a strymon pedal at $299.00. Still love my pedals. The ampero is a great add on to your gear collection.

Hello Johathan. I’ve been watching your vides for months and just subscribed now. Thanks for these valuable reviews. You’re a great musician and a great human being. Blessings from Greece from a Turkish guy☯️
Jonathan Koh , I don’t know if you have ever heard of the late painter/teacher Bob Ross, his tv presentations were inspiring and exceedingly relaxing. I find that you share that quality in your presentations as well...making them not only informative but a most pleasurable experience as well. So much so that I passed your channel along to another gigging musician I follow RJ Ronquillo , I hope he enjoys your presentations as much as I do!
The idea of centrally controlling all effects is great, and the ability to also manage these effects via computer is also great. I personally love these devices and the technology and control offered. However, I constantly find myself not using these as my primary arsenal because when I play I can stand fiddling with options and navigating menus. In the end, a simple physical pedal per each effect chained precisely in the order I choose always is the winner. I shed so many multi effect units for this reason. I keep trying to make them work, but they never work out. I would say if studio work only these are good option.
Great review Jon. I got mine last Fri used it at acoustic gig right out of the box. Did a quick patch with comp, chorus n delay. It was great especially the looper. You should try it. Now cant't wait to try on electric gig . Hope can get sounds as sweet as yours.:)
Thanks for sharing your knowledge Jon. Because of you I have purchased several Harley Benton guitars and have been very happy. Perfect for living room rockers. Your reviews are spot on, perfect for guys like me. God bless my friend.
Hey Jonathon, in the Ampero Editor Version 1.2.8 there is a "Manage Signal Chain" function to the left of the patch volume slider. With that you can move the blocks around to any configuration that you want. Besides that, I believe that in the pedal itself, you can double click the menu knob to pick up a block and shift it (I'm using the Ampero One so it may be slightly different). Hope that helps!

Nice review. It would be cool if you keep uploading ampero related content. There is lots of "background noise" related to this unit on the forums due to the first batches hardware problems and very little quality content like yours depicting its actual capabilities and limitations. Having watched some of your previous reviews, I think you can come up with some pretty useful stuff. Take Jason Sadites tutorials for dialing a tone or an amp, for instance are really fun to watch -at least for us guitar nerds- and very informative, even if you don't actually own a helix. Best regards
hi, i have a question, can i assign the 4 switch to 4 different effects ? how about the expression pedal, does it uses one of the fx block for the wah ?
No. The control switch can turn effects on and off, but not individually. You can program the switch to turn multiple effects on and off, but it will turn them all on and off at the same time. However, each patch can be set up differently. So for example, in one patch the control switch can toggle chorus and delay on and off, and in a different patch it could toggle delay and reverb. It is totally flexible in this regard. The expression pedal does not use an fx block and can be used to control almost any parameter within any fx block. There is also a jack in the rear panel for an additional exp pedal which can also be assigned to any fx block.
@@saltyhose8257 Yes, you can assign as many effects as you want, but only to 1 switch (control switch), It will then simultaneously turn them all on or off together. This assignment, however, can be different for each patch. The Wah DOES use an fx block. I misunderstood that part of the original question, but the pedal itself doesn't only have to be wah or volume. It can be assigned to control different parameters within a block, depending upon what is selected for that particular block. See CTRL/EXP in the editor software.
The one thing that drives me nuts about this unit, it doesn't sit flat on a table! The rubber feet are not level, causing it to rock back and forth. I've had two of these with the same issue. Ended up sticking a thin piece of rubber on the rear right foot.
Oh really... Mine is perfectly flat on surfaces ✌️🤓

I see that you have the CTRL button assigned differently for the clean and distorted sounds, with red being the base sound and green the modified sound in the clean preset , but in the distorted sound it's the other way around. That would be confusing for me, so when programming the base sound I'd be sure to always have the CTRL button in my base colour, be it green or red, and keep that consistent throughout the presets. Nice demo as usual Jonathan :)
Jon I know they are similar but which would you recommend this or the Line6 Pod Go? This seems to have less footswitches but appears to be more customisable in signal chain and footswitch uses?
@@JonIsJustTooLoud Oh bless you. I could do with your wonderful calming manner though - and guitar skills of course. Really enjoyed the video (and about to hopefully start selling HOTONE gear - hence I was researching RUclips content on them). By the way - MASSIVE fan of Eastman Guitars. Wonderful!

I'm thinking about buying a hotone ampero, but still thinking the line 6 hx stomp would be a better deal, couse i can use more fx of the same kind in the same patch (like 2 Delays). I also would like to know your oppinion about the ampero, does the amps on it sounds even close to the helix line?
Hi Jonathan, again great video👍. How do the Zoom G1x Four compare with this one or the helix? Are you a bit familiar with Zoom products. I still use my Line6 tubetone(first modelling amp) from 1999 and is for gigging to m.o. still better than many other amps nowadays. But for recordings i am looking for a useable device. Thanks, Ton
If you're looking for recording, try out the line 6 Helix range. The Helix Native works as a plugin on your digital work station and is only looked by your CPU power... Very powerful and totally indespensible to me. And yes..I should be getting my hands on one of the zoom units for review soon 😄

Great video as usually Jonathan, do you know the Zoom G3xn ? How do you rate this against the Zoom ?
No Marco..I did not try the Zoom G3xn..✌️🤓
sweet playing dude
Thank you ✌✌
Hello I like this video. After wathching your youtube I bought ampero yesterday lol. And I want to know what the song U play at first time is(From 9:48~~). Thank U~
It was just a jam...:)
@@JonIsJustTooLoud Wow ! It is awsome! Thank U for your answer
Get the line 6 stomp🤓✌️

Great Vid Jon! Do you have to use the Amp and Cab Sims or can you run it through an Amp Combo or stack of your own? Can you set it up like a Stomp Box of each individual Effect? And can you turn OFF the Volume Pedal Function? Thanks Sir. Please keep up the Good Work!
Yes Rick...to all 3 questions!🤓✌
Hope you get to keep it
Its a keeper :)
Hi Jonathan, i just got an ampero after watching your video. can i know what is the cable connection setup? i have the USB hook up, i am trying to bridge it to Ableton (DAW). i see you have use unbalanced L/R out? did you connect it to Apollo instead? thanks
Yes..I hooked up the L/R into my Apollo Twin✌♥
