- Two of the five Americans detained in Turks and Caicos on charges of bringing loose ammunition onto the islands will go before a judge this week. Ryan Watson will enter a plea Tuesday. His wife, Valerie Watson, says she would think twice about visiting the island after her husband's detention.

I would never travel to Mexico. It is not a good neighbor to the US nor a safe place for Americans to travel. Fortunately, most Mexican people themselves are great.

I wouldn’t worry in the least about planning a vacation to this country. That’s because I don’t have ammunition in my luggage.
Why would the question be asked whether anyone should go there? It sounds like it is a safe place to visit. I am completely baffled how so many Americans would pack for a holiday anywhere and leave bullets in their bags. Why would they have bullets in their bag in the first place? Very careless and irresponsible is what comes to mind!

Playing the blame game. Turks & Caicos security was doing their JOB, and hubby thought they would let it slide. If she was a team player, she would've stayed with him.
How hard is it keep weapons or ammunition out of your bags? I would think a responsible gun owner would have these items contained. Edit: I don’t own guns but I presume there are cases for these purposes…

Nope. I know whats in my luggage when traveling to other countries. I have dedicated traveling bags used only for traveling.

So... It sounds like IF you ARE fortunate enough to be able to afford a serious vacation like this, that place is ACTUALLY safe, unlike our US "gun-free" zones, where it's been commonplace for many unarmed children to be harmed or killed.

Economic sanctions?... They ARE in place.. the VAST majority of us can't afford to go on trips like that guy. We can't afford a family and nice clothes and enough guns and ammo that we can misplace any of it😅😂

They, Turks & Caicos have no idea yet how much tourism business they will lose because of this, they have shot themselves in the foot & will bleed out tourism dollars for a long time over this.
Except you're overlooking that most people don't travel with ammo, and T&C is getting tons of free press for being a safe place to take families. Most people look for safe destinations over places where laws are easy to break.
The US has only 4.3% of the Earth's population, how many roughly visit T&C per year from US? Guess what, America isn't the only country.
