I have broken it down and swapped tsuba multiple times, was there anything you were curious to see specifically? I can say the way Dream shaped the end of the nakago (can’t recall the term at the moment) was quite a bit different than the Longquan standard template. This sword was made and polished by the owner, Hong Sheng, who is also a practitioner.
@@StudioGDT Nothing in particular, just general curiosity about a relatively unknown brand. Now hearing about this unique one of a kind style nakago has me even more curious. You say he made and polished the sword. His turn around time must be weeks at an absolute minimum. and total production capacity must be very limited if he is doing so much of the production. This brand is very unique it seems. The website shows many swords are very similar in length and weight. How does he make so many? Lots are under a 28 inch blade. just under 11 inch handle and 2kg weight. I am over 6 foot and this is just a bit short for my preference. Still, an interesting alternative.
I am sorry for the late reply! He does not personally make/polish every sword but this one specifically he did. I do believe he spends more time on higher end blades (which would have fewer orders) than some of the lower end blades (which are higher volume). My order wasn’t a quick ship but it also wasn’t excessive in wait time either. I think it fell right in the sweet spot of that 60 day-ish time from conception to completion (it was a new design). At 5ft 11, this was barely long enough for me in the tsuka dept. I normally prefer 29” but the o-Kissaki ads to difficulty so the 27.9” probably worked out. I am certain a custom length Tsuka would not be an issue. I highly recommend giving them a try. If you do, make sure to mention this channel.
@@StudioGDTWilling to bet you'll like it even more when you cut with it. I have a similar Dremsword, and the polish really refines the shape. Please include in the future your thoughts on how the sword actually cuts.
Excellent informed review of a modern production Katana. Very detailed and direct without the typical flash of most reviews. Absolutely stunning Katana! Thanks...now I have to have one.
Very nice indeed gorgeous polish 😍 I'm not a fan of okissaki but it does look good, I would question the tsukanami it does seem to have uneven diamonds but as long as it's tight and you are happy with it that's all that matters. I have just ordered my first custom sword from Dremsword so I guess I will find out first hand what their quality is like.
Nice looking blade on that one. Not sure about the price point, but when you have custom tsuba and okissaki and hadori polish it starts getting up there.
Gorgeous sword Yes it does have shadow dancer vibes I Owen several shadow dancer Yes I will buy from them. What is your opinion on the steel do they have like sx105v , S5, S7, the tougher steels. What is the HRC? How do you feel about edge retention? So many questions. I look forward to your reply
I may say things people disagree with but that being said I am not sold yet on the idea of “super steels” for sword purposes. We will see as o have a few coming. I cannot rate the HRC of this specific blade but T10 I believe normally falls in the 58-62 range and on the extreme end 67. Hardness should not be the end all be all of a sword however because you also start getting brittle as well as difficulty in keeping an edge.
I am gonna get one. Thanks for the review.
I am glad to hear that! Make sure to mention the review!
I did order one. But totally customized mounting. I told them I found the sword via your review.
@ I hope you love it! Can’t wait to see it.
@@StudioGDT I will send pictures when it is ready. I opted for a higo mounting and am sure they will make it perfect. Great costumerservice.
That blade has serious Shadow Dancer vibes all over it. I would be very interested in a disassembly video if you ever take it apart.

Damn, Drem knocked this one out of the park
I’d have to agree. I feel like they are the T10 masters at this point
fantastic work!
Thanks a lot!
Great review and looks like a killer blade. I love an o-kissaki.
Especially when done right!
wow, that's a serious polish. Gorgeous blade, man
All the praise goes to Sally and Hong at Drensword! I’m glad you like it as much as I do!

I would purchase this shinken without hesitation if it was possible to here in England!
Gorgeous polish!
I heard the rules just got pretty nutty over there … :(
We ship to England with no problem, sir.

I like the color but he o-kissaki is a bit flamboyant, maybe go with a ko-kissaki to taper the blade to a fine/elegant tip.
That’s the beauty of reproductions, if that’s what you want, you can get it. Personally I’d take O- over Ko- any day but that’s just my taste.
