My dude it’s not a team. That’s ALL Prince. He writes, produces and performs all of the instruments of songs for the band. Teaches the band their parts, records the albums and then changes the songs for tours to make sure the live renditions are better! Minus the horns, Prince never learned the horn section of instruments, but is believed to have mastered over 20 instruments. 🤷🏾♂️
You should read a few interviews with the npg members from this era (this album being the highpoint). It wasn't really like that. For one thing, Sonny T was in that band. You think Prince is instructing Sonny T like an underling? No chance. Michael Bland on drums has said his most frequent instruction for changes was "Do something legendary here" or "Do something memorable." Prince was Prince, and he drove it all, but it was still a band. I don't think Clare Fischer is credited on Gold Experience, but Prince gave him carte blanche on his original input for decades. He was a key member of Prince's team.
@@sgarrett453 I don’t think that Prince was instructing the band on every note, but he was directing the band and doing the bones of all the songs.
@sgarrett453 Stop acting like Sonny T was the greatest bass player ever. If he doesn't like the way something sounds he's gone say something no matter who it is. I've been 2 Paisley Park many times Prince recorded his demos alone.
Per Prince, he played about 30 instruments. 😉
@@theteleisewilliamsexperience not saying Prince thought Sonny T was the best bass player ever. I think he respected the hell out of him tho. And it doesn't take away from Prince being the architect of all the songs. But the first comment said nobody else contributed. We know those songs -- they say 'produced arranged composed and performed by Prince.' They don't all say that tho, do they? This era mostly says '...and the NPG.' That's all. It's no knock on his genius. Could he do it all? Of course! Did he? Not always. He hired musicians to bring something to the party, not just play like him.
This is Michael Bland on drums, a powerhouse drummer. This whole album is fire 🔥 I recommend you watching the live version from Detroit in 2004 with the late John Blackwell on drums. Princes guitar solos are epic too. Love your reaction. More Prince please, he’s always phenomenal especially live 💜
You should definitely check out Prince LIVE, he shines even more onstage! You should go down the purple rabbit hole and get to know Prince and his music. He is a modern Mozart. He wrote, composed, sang, performed, produced… he did it all. He was known for going into the studio and coming out 24 hours with a complete song… ready for release. He was a beast! Love Prince. 💜
@@tracyface69 like The Beautiful Ones! That’s what you get when you put Prince in a studio for 24 hours alone. Just one example of his genius 💜
@@sallykinley5939 and speaking of the PR album, I think Computer Blue an underrated cuts the instrumentation is so goood!
@@tracyface69 Computer Blue is actually my favourite track from PR. My favourite version is the rockier version live at First Ave, the benefit concert for the dance theatre in Aug ‘83 💜
@@sallykinley5939 yes! That performance is 🔥 🔥
Yes, that’s Prince playing guitar. He was a musical genius who played over 20 instruments. You should absolutely continue with Prince and watch live performances as well. There are several great live versions of this song on RUclips- there’s the one from Detroit that others have mentioned. There’s also a performance in Paris, Hong Kong, and Coachella. All are great. Since you mentioned the instrumental piece of it, I would also recommend checking out anything from his 2009 performances at the Montreux Jazz Festival (I like Empty Room/Elixir or Little Red Corvette), Motherless Child, The Question of U, Joy in Repetition, Purple Rain (I love the one from 1985 American Music Awards). There’s also his guitar solo on While My Guitar Gently Weeps (from the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2004) and his Super Bowl Halftime Show which many say is the best halftime of all time (I would agree). Also, to see Prince on drums, check out America or It’s Gonna Be a Beautiful Nite. For P on base, try Pass the Peas with the great Maceo Parker on sax or Play that Funky Music/Hollywood Swinging/ Fantastic Voyage. Please keep up with Prince. You will be amazed by his talent. Thanks!
One of my favorite prince songs
Jimi is the Innovator but Prince is the most versatile guitar player ever.
You really gotta get into prince he’s incredible. Start with purple rain, then 1999, then sign o the times then go from there
No you start with Soft and Wet then work your way up.
@tiffaneeannbarrett I came to say the same!! Start with the first album, "For You" and go in order! You won't be sorry!!!
Team of one. Goat for a reason. Not an artist alive then or now seeing him any day of the week. The live versions are phenomenal as well with different feels depending on the era and who he had drumming. He is.figuratively and literally the definition of fuck around and find out. You can’t find any instance of an artist talking sideways about they’re better. He treated performance as a blood sport and would literally decapitate you then and there. Although dead seven years now, the most influential artist to this day from the weekend to lizzo and Dani Leigh were all mentored and or got their start cuz he blessed them. Even ballerina misty copeland. There’s a reason Katt Williams. Was. A good friend
I'm 35 in I listen to prince.. .. I was 15 when I saw prince in concert .. to this day still #1 concert
Prince got bars! If you had went to a Prince concert you didn't bring your girlfriend otherwise you'll be going home alone.
You need to go to the beginning of Prince. You're missing a lot of amazing music.🔥💃🔥💃
Glad the drums caught your ear. You owe yourself the chance to see Prince's drummer, John Blackwell perform it with him live: ruclips.net/video/15o68I3Elv0/видео.htmlsi=UKz0zhnHKgkB6axs ; there are lots of great live versions of the song out there (Paris, Coachella, at his stage at Paisley Park, etc.), but this is a good place to start.
Yeah this was on Tevin Cambelll album also underrated.
Watch It's Gonna Be A Beautiful Night. How tight his band was. The choreography of the movements of his bandmates. And to top it off Prince jumps on the drums. By the way besides this song my favorite off this album is P#ssy Control
Love all of them but P Control is boss
Hi again, Wanda. My favorite is "Eye Hate U" - if you know, you know.
Speaking of "freakum songs", Teddy Pendergrass also don't play when it comes to being nasty😅. His song "do me" is an example
Good to see you young man. Great reaction. I'm sure you've heard it before, Prince has to be experienced L.I.V.E. its the only way.
Yes, you need to check out the live version of this. There are several.
8 love seeing someone see Prince doing it like this, for the first time. You got a lot of great shit to check out. You're gonna have a lot of new subscribers if you keep checking Prince out on here. Hope you do, this was fun to watch ✊😎
He plays over 20 instruments, including the drums, I wouldn’t be surprised if that’s not him, playing the drums on his own album
@BlindGirlMadness_78 Yes, Prince was a really good drummer, but Michael Bland played the drums on this.
@@tracynorman1455 oh, OK, cool 😊
Much of Prince’s music didn’t get played after the 80s because of his dispute with his record company for the ownership of his masters. Also he would not allow his music to be played online. So most of the youth like you are really just getting introduced to his music new and old since his death.
It's not the kind of song that gets played on the radio a lot, that's probably the reason you've never heard it - - but Prince played it during concerts all the time... there are so many version (live) on RUclips, you might like one or two. Just fyi, live, he's a 1000 times better than in the studio - and he was near perfect in the studio.
This played on the radio back in the day. Prince produced a version sung by Tevin Campbell that was all over the radio.
He had so many hits
Absolute Genius
I think this was for Tevin Campbell
Yep, you’re right. He gave it to Tevin Campbell.
Every drummer he had was fire!!! Michael Bland is no joke!! You should check out Sheila E. also she was one of his drummers on and off for most of the 80s. They were also engaged. She’s like a female version of him that’s sings and plays the drums at the same time.
Prince is the shit. GENIUS.
You MUST watch his live performance of Purple Rain at the 1985 American Music Awards. It will blow your mind!!💯💯💯💯💯
Drummers 90's and before i.e. SugarFoot, etc. went crazy on the Drums. Watch Guy (singing group) on the Arsenal Hall Show. Their drummer was massive. Drummers playing for Michael Jackson, Prince's, etc. were massive. MJ's Guitarist Jennifer Batten was massive. Google these musicians. Won't be disappointed. Btw, Tevin Campbell did this song when he was a child. That's Prince for you. I think Prince sent Tevin's mom out the room..😂😂😂
I think Prince sent Teavon out the room while he and his mom had a “meeting”. Maybe she accidentally let Michael Jackson watch Teavon during the negotiations.🫤
MAJ U GOTTA CHECK OUT ''DO ME BABY LONG VERSION OFF THE CONTROVERSY ALBUM'' SO FIRE
That would be late great John Blackwell. He died of cancer about a year after Prince 😢😢😢
ICON💯💯💯💯💯
Prince originally wrote this song for Tevin Campbell I believe if not Tevin Campbell has a version of this song too.
I forgot how cold this album is
It’s all live. The late John Blackwell on drums.
I should add Prince plays all instruments on the record but live it’s John Blackwell. Check it out. It’s on RUclips
Michael b is on the drums
Prince got wonderful slow jams
My Top 3
1) Adore
2) International Lover
3) Slow Love
…
14) Shhh
This is his 14th best song?
@@MAJreactions
I wrote this to make you understand, in my opinion, there is a gap between my Top 3 and « Shhh » ^^
Hendrix was a great guitarist for many reasons. Santana, who love Prince, is one of the best for the same. And David Gilmour and many other guitarist considered "the best" loved him as well. Prince didn't have the best technique , but could play as them or even better and playing any genre: rock, blues, jazz... Jimmy Page said he felt intimidated before the situation of sharing a stage with him.
The brother playing the the drums is Michael Bland. In my eyes the best drummer Prince had
Bow wow sampled this song with a big bite, Tevin covered it first, great reaction 😊👍
NO LIES TOLD! My oldest son is your age, and I most certainly conceived him during a Prince song! Most likely, it was his song Adore, which is super sexy and sensual! You gotta check it out! 💥💥💥💥
All I'm gonna say is you gotta see the live version. The man on the drums is Michael Bland but watch the one with John Blackwell drumming. He's a BEAST!!!
Michael bland is a much better drummer than Blackwell
Hey MAJ if you want to hear and see some epic guitar playing and singing from Prince, check out Empty Room/Elixir live in Montreux. You will enjoy it I'm sure.
Prince was black balled my this time in his career for going after the music industry 4 how they treated artists and musicians. Hence why his name doesn't appear on the album cover.
4:30: Be glad that reactors aren't drug tested, bro.
More prince. 3 months???
Shhh is much better Live..Every version is different..Prince plays best Live
trombone … ?! check out fred wesley or trombone shorty.🤟🏽
Tevin covered this
He gave it to Tevin first. He later said that it was too grown for him and he was uncomfortable singing it.
@@nicim3730 oh, OK, I just thought it was Tevin trying to get out of the kitty lane and move into his adult self, thanks for the info
@@BlindGirlMadness_78 you are correct in that regard. The label made the push for him to do that. He said on Unsung that he was uncomfortable singing this song.
@@nicim3730 Tevin may have been uncomfortable but Tevin recorded this version of the song. So it was recorded. Believe it or not I actually liked Tevin's version
Go listen to "Adore"!!!!!
This was definitely sampled by Tevin Campbell
He gave the song to Kevin for his first album
Tevin performed it for Prince's movie Graffiti Bridge
@@amykarnitz7144 No he performed « Round and Round »
This is #realmusic #realmusicians…Feel sorry you couldn’t experience “our older generation music” in your lifetime…it’s really crazy that you don’t know Prince’s music cannot be “sampled” legally…research bro…enjoy the “EXPERIENCE OF PRINCE”🔥
How is it you have only ever heard 1 prince song!!?? What's up with your generation.
If you want to know what it was like live. here you go - ruclips.net/video/OSK-axbUGMU/видео.html
This makes me sad Prince was fhe G.O.A.T of music but y'all have no clue about his music. He influenced ppl in all genres of music like Outkast,Snoop, I mean all forms of music.
Maybe too grown for you kiddo.🙂
Not even his best jam tho! “Call my name” one to watch 4 sure!
