With the re- building of the Varsity Line, re-opening the Banbury to Verney Junction section would have been made far easier and made economic and environment sense, particularly for those near Brackley and Buckingham.

All that area where the station was was rough land we used to play on. Even the old station was explorable though quite vandalised. This would have been around 1978 ISH for me.

Very interesting. Always sad to see the eradication of another bit of railway history. BUt given the already extensive development surrounding it, it was inevitable.

Thats very true, surprised that piece of land lasted as long as it did .
Thanks for your comments and watching 👍

Ah very interesting although shame will no longer be any public access even if was seemngly unofficial anyway. Checking back I ran that section and the bit on the other side of the A43 to the river (where the bridge over it was long gone) in November 2017 and looks then there was a path down behind Travis Perkins to the section in the video from Herrieffs Farm Road which along with the gate to the A43 presume has now also been sealed off.

Nice little video - would probably recommend refering to the F1 team as Mercedes rather than using the Petronas name. Brackley could do with a railway now id imagine and to think it used to have 2 once upon a time...

Petronas is the main name of the team, Mercedes AMGBis just the engine .

All people are left with now, are gridlocked & pothole covered roads........what a total waste.

Not many towns /villages in South Northamptonshire had two stations.
Brackley, being one. Helmdon and Ayhno also had two, all alas gone now.
The junction and railways are still live at Ayhno though, signal box sadly gone.
