Really like this fly and Tenkara fishing in general. I have to say though, having a serious case of OCD, that hackle fiber that got trapped at the last part of the winding, right before the whip finish was driving me crazy.
It is simple, but the San Juan Worm is even simpler. No hackle, no body, just a worm-length piece of chenille tied to the hook with a few wraps of thread. Pink is a good color.
This was a great beginners kit for a great price. ruclips.net/user/postUgkxKRURvLsu9Vvyw7gIuvt8FsApoQNCdz-1 Its given us a huge variety to test out and see what works well and what we like to use. Majority of the flies have stayed together well, but some of the rainbow warriors did unravel after catching a few blue gill. All in all, this was a great kit and are so happy with the purchase and value for money.
FishingFairbanks Course you can in fact dry fly fishing is quite fun on a furled line. Everything unweighted works perfectly for all tenkara rods but you may need a special tenkara rod for weighted nymphing.
I am curious about the type of thread only. It looks large diameter. Been tying since 1990. Quit fishing for a long time now I am back at it. I have been tying 1 feather flies or 1 material does its but not with a specific style. I enjoy learning Tenkara. Simple is fun.

That it, gee's you can get any simpler than that, some thread a hook and a hackle. I love flies i can tie in less than two min start to finish.

Are you weighting the head of the hook with black wire? What size and kind of hook are you using?

FishingFairbanks I use regular flies all of the time. It's great fun.
You can Tenkara fish with anything that your equipment will support. Throw a live bluegill on there if you have the rod and line for it :)
What make and model is this hook, what sizes should a person tie it in.
Redmech80 tie 8-14 and sometimes but rarely 16
Your être ?
Thanks for posting.
What type of hackle are you using? I've had success with Hungarian Partridge.
