FFT stands for “fast forier transform”, which is the mathematical technique (named for French mathemetician and physicist John-Baptiste Joseph Forier) that generates the waterfall graph from the signal spectrum that it’s scanning. It’s the same thing that’s used for generating voiceprints, etc.
Thanks for this demo, I'm ordering this option! TIP: From any menu, hit AVOID and it will take you right back to scan. You do not have to keep hitting the side button
If you press the function button while in waterfall and turn the knob the frequencies change at a faster rate. Press function again and it goes back to normal scroll. Saves you having to spin the knob excessively. 👍
@@QRPadventures I used to have a BCD256HP. I sold it because of hard times. So when I saw the SDS200, I have been wanting one. I waiting for years before I got an SDS200, to let the users work the bugs out. Had mine for about 18 days ago.
Is this possible in the uk on the 200e and 100e ? I can’t even register with Uniden because I’m in the uk. But I am registered with Avera if that helps. Would be great to have a way to do this in the uk.
Uniden Australia u don't need to register just buy entering an etc but at present for some strange reason u need to add it going to an Australian, or nz adress search Google maps and get zip code and adress and enter this
Nice vid thanks!.. Asking a fellow sds100 owner or any owner out there.. Is there any settings (tips/tricks) to improving the analog signal quality; harsh "tiny static" sound coming out of the speaker during emissions? Thanks
Thanks! I bought an expensiveness external speaker that did the trick. The speaker gave it a bit more base. As far as better signal, perhaps a better antenna. At home I use an MFJ diskcone and in mobile I use a wide RX mag mount. Seems like the analog isn't all that great with these. I have a Radio Shack Pro 2050 that get really good analog receive.
@@QRPadventures yeah I have a remtronix antenna. Analog just sucks. As for an external speaker; there seems to be issues with that where it makes feedback noise. Not sure why . I’ve also used a habigus Bluetooth adapter and it makes the same type of feedback noise, although an external speaker and Bluetooth adapter work just fine with my bcd325p2. Have u experienced these issues? Thx
Yeah, they are expensive, however they really are amazing. There are less expensive scanners out there. Check your area, you may be able to get away with not needing an SDS 100/200. I travel all over the US so I wanted a scanner that fit that need and this scanner works great as a mobile.
Press the menu button, go down to display options, select backlight options, set key backlight, then enable. Be aware that this will drain the battery a little faster, which is why it is disabled on default.
Can anyone send the update link for sentinel, not sure if the firmware updated on 23 December last year will be in uk at moment, there's usually a delay between usa and uk
2.05 revision 3 is my current sentinel is that correct, the latest, now awaiting the firmware but in uk, eu usually a few weeks delayed, annoying as the database which is pointless in uk updates same as usa and canada, why can't they release firmware across the globe at same time
Only issue is uniden eu upgraded on that site but for some reason I can't add my adress anymore, had to pretend I had an Australian adress which doesn't make sens as we are sent to uniden australia if we have eu models and those models are shown as supported
Ref the firmware upgrade I've noticed a small problem on uhf when scanning my systems will, sit on a freq with no signal at all, never did this on these freqs before mostky for me annoyingly 459. 1 and 449.3125 I keep no ctccs dcs etc on one system to find new businesses light users t
I also live in the UK. At this moment in time it’s impossible to purchase the waterfall upgrade for the SDS200e. Though the option has now appeared after a recent update. I have setup and registered accounts in America, the EU and Australia. Also followed the link above. They let you go through the registration process and ordering, then you go to pay and they then refuse payment. We don’t ship to the UK. Come on Uniden you need to get your shit together. We’ve paid a lot of money for these radios and this is how you treat your customers. I’m very disappointed.
Even avera eu said do that after I'd already done it but crazy as eu u are supposed to use Australian site and even has the eu models and never had this issue with them just few weeks before upgraded another radio with a different upgrade and it took my uk details, why ha e they changed might ask avera again can they get uniden Australia to make it easier

Right on! Thanks.
I Got the Uniden Waterfall Upgrade on Both my SDS100 and 200. It's Really Cool. Thanks*****

just got a sds200 and have a 7dbi 800mhz vertical coming. Gotta get the damn key thats what im here for.
Awesome! I will have the SDS200 here in a month or two. It will be my late Christmas gift to myself.
@QRPadventures I figured out how to get into the portal for the keys but having issues with the esn and checksum..doh...hopfully soon.

Well done! Thanks!
Will it scan through freqs when it's in waterfall mode? like how it scans in the other normal mode
Can scanners locate area of encrypted signals?
The Scanner automatically skips them.
Great job thanks! 👍
Thanks for watching!
Does it have Bear Tracker?

dmr slot 2 Frequency - which system need to be in ?
I programmed this frequency in conventional... The scanner will auto detect the digital mode and what slot the hotspot or repeater it is listening to.

most impressive

Updated sentinel to 2.05 is this correct, at moment still won't update firmware, hopefully in uk won't be too long

on my waterfall it says upgrade needed? Where do I get the upgrade?
my.uniden.com/Index.cfm?accessdenied=%2Fannouncements.cfm

Can I just scroll to the end from 00.000
Ill never know why youtube reccomends me shit like this. I can imagine, but ill never know
It's a sign man, radios can be fun, I'm now looking for a cheap handheld HAM radio after being recommended all these vids.
Probably because you watch and comment on them
Because scanning is in your future!
