Only for young, very skilled young people! Thank you for the music!!
What a beautiful song you played for the painting! Thank you 🙌🎉
I had to wait 81 years before someone showed me how to pour paint out of a tin without dripping - amazing.
I waited 70 years and was also amazed at such a simple fix. The detail these two work to is just beautiful.
60 years - never seen that done before.
69 y.o. here and I never seen it !
You guys are to honest, I cant admit it.
Just shows, we are never too old to learn! Maya & Aladino are not just beautifully restoring a boat, but teaching us "old dogs new tricks" all around the world. Thanks so much you two. 👏😍🌻
Quick and easy access to every square inch below the waterline of a sailing vessel is definitely a likeable thing.
Thumbs up for the Sail Life reference! I only found your channel in the last 6 months or so and have really enjoyed the approach Dino has to the refit. me being a very hands on person, its very satisfying to see someone from the boat building industry doing what they love. Also watching and listening to Maya play is a true joy. Again I have a small musical background (Saxophone) so its again very satisfying to watch that magic. Keep up the good work, you two are great!
How motivating to have some paint on the boat. Such a huge corner to have turned. Always a joy when there is a musical interlude.
This boat is even better then a brand new one! She will be incredibly strong and will last forever! Brilliant videos, I love it. Thank you.
Look at Aladino being tricky with the paint cans! 💯☺️
Your twin sister plays the fiddle as lovely as you. Love your chanel. Keep it up!!!
I always know that my Friday is about to get better when I see the constellation Orion floating across a crisp, clear northwest night sky.
As a musician and a videographer, I totally admire your skills at both. People can often excel at one or the other, but finding someone so talented at both is truly rare. Thank you for sharing your gifts with us.
... love the enthusiasm you approach the project with ... it bleeds over on to me as I watch ...
The two of you are phenomenal! You complement each other in ways most couples only dream of. Love your mission in life and look forward to Fridays! Thanks! Keep up the great videos you produce. Boat building and musical talent! A rare combination in sailing channels.
Possibly you don't know, but a South African woman sailor named Kirsten Neuschafer plans on sailing a Cape George Cutter CG36 built in 1988 in this year's Golden Globe around the world race. BTW it's a pleasure to watch you two fulfilling your dreams, all the best.
Yo paint, a definite psychological step forward. Impressed by the gaffer tape on the tin top for pouring, such a simple fix for dribbles. Another excellent offering from you two.
Just makes me happy to see you two so energetic, creative, efficient…and cute! Since I’m in my mid sixties…you get it. We used to boat, varnish and paint a lot…still do some! A weekly boost!💫❤️
Oh glorious sanding and Pretty dang spiffy as Mads would indeed say!
Job well done I say!
Cheers
So exciting getting some paint on the inside!! It is coming along beautifully!!
Thank you SO much for your part in this!! It has been a massive help!
Do you supply in South Africa? After seeing this process i'd like to give it a try on my boat. I also saw the Total Boat range on another boat repair channel and was really impressed with the paint that needed no tip and roll.
if I had a pony, I'd ride him on my boat, and if I had a boat I'd fix it up with Total Boat...ripping off Lyly Lovett aside..thanks for your sponsoring good channels!
I'm currently in the market in order to return to the sea.
Coatings will be Totalboat throughout.
I've been using Jamestown since long before TotalBoat, but I also want to thank you for supporting good folks like these. As you know, there are a lot of us who like actually seeing these products used by real people on real projects. Of course, you couldn't find a more meticulous demonstrator than Aladino!
Such a nice boat. It get more beautiful every episode
Loved your duet. Too cool! I think your music is much better than the other.
Thanks for the video. I smiled at the reference to "high build" primer. My Dad used to say, "that's nothing that half inch paint won't fix"...he would have loved high build primer.
Awesome work, and I love hearing you play your violin.
It was exciting seeing you both so happy to have the materials you needed to start getting primer and paint onto the boat. The inside is really taking shape and your hard work and preparations are finally paying off. The primer paint color doesn’t really look bad at all in fact it’s almost a relaxing color to have before you finish it off with the final top coats. At some point it would help to better understand how you mix the epoxy what all you have to do to prepare the surfaces and then how long it takes to dry between coats. The violin segment was very nice and I wondered what it would take to have you do a cross bow high-five with yourself when you are doing the dual image playing. Your timing of the music is always spot-on and sounds wonderful.
great stuff. I like the seen when Aladino is working and Maya is 'just fiddling around'. Hope you know that I am kidding. I love Maya's performances.
Another “better” episode. I really like the opening font choice and your story telling. It is very entertaining. The sub-journey is you are making appropriate improvements consistently. This delights me.
Such high quality work
You are my Saturday morning start to the weekend. Love your work ... every intricate bit. Hi from Brisbane, Australia.
My two favorite sailing channels, Sailing Magic Carpet and Sailing GBU. Two totally different channels, character wise and boat refitting are 180 degrees apart.
Eric you have read my mind it's like the opposite ends of boat refitting but I think it's the youthful enthusiasm that is the attraction for this old man
I couldn’t agree with you more Greg.
Good industrious lads and beautiful assistants, maybe a carpentry and bikini spear fishing shootout would be in order! Then of course a photography finale.
20:44 ..... I just love boat refits where you can see 100% quality of work... awesome job you two ....
That's a great Boat Barn I didn't hear that back story on that. I like your craftsmanship😎👍
I liked the part in the main salon when Dino said why don't we just put varnish over this looks pretty good and Maya realized that she was not holding the camera and it implied she would apply the varnish. Quickly she swapped places and said start priming. Funny. Great team.
Hahahaa, Dini was just joking that the bulkhead looked "so good" that we might as well just apply clear varnish over it! Which of course, would look ridiculous since there was still paint everywhere around the edges.
Congratulations!! Coming along nicely! You two are doing an amazing job managing both your projects. Have enjoyed watching your journey and look forward to Fridays to see your progress. As always, amazing filming, editing and thank you so so much when you add the art of the string…. Just absolutely amazing! Today, the mark where you paused was so perfectly orchestrated, The energy of the moment came straight through my screen and vibrated with my own. I’m waiting to board an airplane to Portland Or while I watched this episode and I received many odd looks as I clapped my hands together at the conclusion of the concert. You both are quickly rising to the top of my subscriptions. Thank you so much for continuing to share your journey.
I am happy for you two. You have made very good progress in achieving your goals.
Try storing your paint cans upside down, the solids will slowly move to the lid stopping them settling too much, when you do need them stirring is easier and faster as there is less to scrape off the bottom.
You guys are always so calming and relaxing. Thank you
Maybe a minor or even silly thing, but I love watching you pour the primer without getting drips on the outside if the paint can. I have to remember that trick for next time I'm painting.
I've been sanding the bottom of our boat in preparation for antifouling paint. I was just thinking, "I'll have to pour paint out of a new can - Oh No!!" Paint running down the entire side of the can, dripping everywhere, big huge mess. Then I see your tape trick...wow!
Gotta say that I'm very impressed with how you are able to deal with the latency of BT headphones for those multipart recordings.
Maya when you travelled through France did you ever encounter this lady.... Who sailed with her piano giving dock side concerts. Be happy you play a hand held string instruments. 😉😎
Very smart of Aladino to wait for the correct temperature for Varnish, Paint, Epoxy, for that matter, no point of doing stuff that you would just have to redo again because you didn't apply it in a warm enough climate. Any way's the boat is coming along just fine. And its looking amazing. cheers..
So awesome to see you guys over on Project Duracell. Such a small world sometimes. Can't wait to join it (actively shopping for a pocket cruiser now)
One thing to note about epoxies and even some paints during cold weather is you can warm up the sealed cans in a very warm water bath for 30mins to 1hr, to help bring it to temp and therefore thin out the viscosity of each part individually, before mixing the 2 parts together. Consult with the Total Boat rep first to verify that it's ok to do so, before proceeding with the warmup.
Absolutely! We keep them in a small heated cupboard to achieve the same effect :)
I can't wait to see Magic Carpet II in the water but I love watching you too work on her. Maya, the music was beautiful! I backed up and listened to it 3 times!
Oh glorious sanding! Didn't know you watch SailLife.
Yay! Primer and paint makes such a difference!
You find some magical jigs for us . Good work on the boat , lloks great .
Aladino in the white suit crammed into in the chain locker looked like an astronaut on the ISS.
BTW, how does Aladino stay spotless when painting? Simple. He's just Aladino.
In the process of restoring a sailing boat myself, YES the moment you can finally apply the first paint sure feels wonderful. Greetz Jan
Wow that paint is so thick. Pretty. Love the two Maya's music.
Just came from Delos , Now it's the boat building couple. Love it when my favorite channel's go back to back...
Every time you have it written as Magic Carpet II I want to call it Magic Carpet Dos. Just think it sounds cool.
Love the reference to "Oh glorious Sanding" - I had a good laugh.
Thanks for sharing 👍 😊
I love Maya's voice. so soothing.
Its kind of a milestone when you start adding paint to a boat rebuild. It kind of tells you things are getting done! Just love your planning and attention to detail in all aspects of MC2! Beautiful photography and music too! Oh my!
Thanks Robert!
Hello to you both, when I have had partly used tins of paint in the past, and I am putting them back into storage I make sure the lids are properly sealed,i then stow them upside down, that way, when they are reopened there is no skin on the top, making carrying on work easier.another great video thank you.cheers Roly 🇬🇧.
Always enjoy both of you appreciate each other's work and skills.
Love your reference to sanding. Been watching Madd through his refit. Know I get to follow your refit. Its looking fabulous. 👍👍
Good work, guys. In spite of the cold, everything looks pretty dang spiffy🤓.
I absolutely loved the violin part!
Great job.
Great video, imagining when you are cruising, giving how-to seminars to other people.
Great show guys in that cold weather great violin interlude more of your talent please 🙏 Dino is a great boat builder an never stops well talented lad keep going guys 😍👍🤣
12:00 "and I will never understand..." - if I picked it up correctly in the past few years then Aladino got socialized in Switzerland. There's a great piece of world literature that explains to you how the Swiss "roll". "Asterix in Switzerland" - [wiki: "(Astérix chez les Helvètes, "Asterix in the land of the Helvetii") is the sixteenth volume of the Asterix comic book series, by René Goscinny (stories) and Albert Uderzo (illustrations). It was originally serialized in Pilote magazine issues 557-578 in 1970 and translated into English in 1973."].
Yea Primer or is it Paint that is first? How about Primer Paint ..that should cover it !! Lol 😆 you're fun. Aladino must love ❤ to hear you play as we all do too!!
Thank you for the music and entertainment 🎻⛵️
Crazy what a fresh coat of paint can do for the" refit moral''.
Can you guys do a video specific to foot comfort on a sailboat? I know from my sailor friends that they insist on their boats you go either nonslip and non scuff shoes or barefoot and when going barefoot you have to be careful as you can stub your toes on stuff and how to best keep your boat toe safe lol. Could you please cover this topic with the do's and don'ts and pros and cons of different methods and options specific to foot safety? We would really appreciate this alot!
Binge podcast listening, binge sanding!
Nice colours, and well done. Beauitiful music too🙂
very nice double violin sequence
So nice to see paint brushes used instead of rollers that most people use
Owning the exact same cordless drill, here is a paint mixing tip. Break out the corded drill if you have one. I find the cordless doesn’t have the rpm’s that the corded one does so you end up with a less cohesive mixture that took twice the time to achieve. This is from years of mixing project paints from latex to epoxy based industrial coatings (the miss-tint section is a goldmine!) that often sit for years on my paint shelf.
Love the violin duet!
Good paint ,well done video filming 🎥
Greetings from Hawaii islands
Glorious sanding, for sure, but it will really look spiffy when you are finished!
It is so nice to be able to start painting and making all the work look finished.
The boats is looking great and coming along nicely.
can't believe that dart board is just on the wall without some cork or other wall protectant around the board. hummm you guys ust be reall good dart throwers.
Lol.... it's more of a normal game to play in other countries. After playing for a couple years I never hit the wall. I'm more concerned about hitting the wire and a bounce off to the floor. Hopefully not a concrete floor!
Love the sail life reference!
Great progress!! Keep rolling and stay warm you two! All that snow... brrrr.. 👍👍👊👊🥶🥶
Hi guys,I have just watched again your wiring video I recommend a water charger it's a electric propeller that rotates it water current and it is a constant charge to your batteries all so a wind mill would work well for you too as a support to solar, love the videos stay healthy
Ode to DIY master MADDS of @saillife. GLORIOUS . Cheers
You could feel Maya's excitement here. Heartwarming.
Clever playing, enjoyed it.
Great video! The project is coming along nicely you two. Keep it up and I look forward to your next video.
Nice shoutout to Mads 🙂
Yay! Looking great! Enjoy the "work-arounds" as the Weather Gods pose atmospheric challenges. I hope to visit PNW this Summer; perhaps I'll run into you guys. Aloha!
That would be awesome!
Would be an honor to meet such a sailing legend as yourself
Loved the duet, Maya!
Nice, there is good progress.
I've dealt with cold weather trying to epoxy coat surfaces and it's tricky with cold temperatures. Heaters just don't cut the mustard in large spaces at all.
Looks great
Something for Aladino. 🤓.. as an asides i can see changes in materials used in boat construction coming, both from an economic and environmental standpoint.
Recommend you read this article👀 I was checking on Basalt v Carbon and Fiberglass .. turns out its better than I thought..read the link article on the first Volcanic 60ft ice class racer and Basalt in dealing with growlers. Hemp instead of ply?😲

The amount of times you guys climbed that ladder is pretty impressive too btw! :P
Awesome!! You guys rock!! 👍🏻
Swiss cleanliness. Aladino’s secret.
Oh I miss the old intro! The evidence for some twenty minutes of gold ahead.
Fed reference til Mads fra SailLife 😊🇩🇰
Great video, Great boat!
Incomparable !
Loved the violin duo. Was it your composition? Great progress with painting. Looking good. Thanks Mike
