      My puppy is three quarter Jack russell and a quarter Patterdale, chocolate brown and tan with white chest and a little beard. I know about Jack Russells but not about Patterdales, she's a delightful little dog, quiet chilled out that has got to be the Patterdale in her.

    I your lovely trio seem to be enjoying themselves, great to see them out together. I have a 9 mth old, bought from working farm. Mine is the tan coloured but developing a really curly wirey ridge on back, iguess this could be the Lakeland in him. Hubby bought him to go shooting with, very lively but loveable dog.

    Nice looking dogs! I read the patterdales are little rockets, but in what way are they different (appart from the appearance) than parson terriërs, border terriers and fox terriers. The function they have seem to me to be the same and the size is about the same. Clearly they are stronger built than other small terriers but appearance is one thing. Thanks in advance.

    • @fieldsportcymru4636
      @fieldsportcymru4636  Год назад +5

      The other Terriers you mention long long ago became mere show dogs fit only for walking around a ring with the working instinct nose courage and common sense ignored in favour of correct ear carriage and correct trimming for show . The Patterdale is still primarily a worker

      @@fieldsportcymru4636 ok. Thanks for the quick reply. I'm in Belgium and patterdales are not we'll known (even unknown) but they look like a very healthy and Interesting dog breed. I'm looking for a small dog with big dog potentiality and stamina. (Active lifestyle) so patterdales are on the list. In the lowlands we have also the boerenfox terrier (loosely translates to farmers fox terrier) who are still farmdogs, but it seems that they often lack socialisation since they are born and raised in stables. (Not an official breed, but that is often even better) options, options, options,...🥴

      @Wetl You will not go wrong with a Patterdale, remarkabley fit healthy dog tough as anything . They can be head strong but are loyal to the end and live for a very long time 16 or 17 years being common

    I’ve got one called Ozzy, he’s almost identical to your biggest black one, though he has a white belly.
    He’s never caught a rabbit yet but he killed about 5 pigeons, 6 mice and a sparrow in the garden.
    I never reprimand him for this because he’s a Patterdale Terrier and that’s what they do 🤷🏻‍♂️
    I knew what I was getting, my only complaint is he’s too intelligent for his own good!
    Little sod has made me install magnetic locks to kitchen cupboards because he learned how to open them!
