The 5th Dimension did a good job with this song. The drum track reminds me of 11 cheer.

This is without doubt the number five answer song to Eleven Cheer. The drums drive this song exactly like they do with Eleven Cheer

  • @jongriffin9097

This song from Sesame Street and the number 11 animation by Jim Henson was sung by the group The Fifth Dimension, the group that sang "The Age Of Aquarius/Let The Sunshine In". It is ironic that the Sesame Street crew asked them to sing for those two animated segments, this one in particular, since there were five members in the group. It's only fitting in my honest opinion.

The singers sound like they're having quite the good time with this, and I can see why.
"One, two, three, four, five; one, two, three, four, five..." will be stuck in my head for the rest of the day.

I had quite a few fantasies about this classic Sesame Street skit. One of the fantasies that I had was that a family of five was singing this song. The family members that I visualized was an older father, a younger mother, an older brother, a younger sister and I can't remember who the fifth was, but I do remember that the brother was ten years old and the sister was eight years old in my imagination.
Another fantasy that I had was a five person singing group named Family Five, Five Family or Family of Five ( Whichever one it was that I thought of) was singing this song. The Members were three guys and two gals in my mind. The way that the group was singing this song did kinda sounded like what I pictured in my mind when I was young.
I never shared my kind of fantasy with anybody up until today thanks to RUclips and my wife for introducing me to it and having my very own I Pad that my wife gave me. She without a doubt is the greatest and so much fun to have in my life. That's exactly why I love her so much.

    Studio singers....
Somewhere between The Mamas and Papas and the Brady Kids ;-)
I loved this when I saw it for the first time as a toddler in '69 or '70... I haven't seen it since then until now (thanks for posting!)
I always remembered this as perhaps ther "grooviest" Sesame Street songs. Hearing that bassline and tribal drum break, the harmonies, and seeing that Monterey-Pop-esque artwork... All I can say is... still groovy!

  • @DianaDeLuna
    @DianaDeLuna 5 лет назад +1

The artwork in this piece was very beautiful. When my sister and I were small, we'd try to emulate these explosive geometrical patterns with paper and crayons.

They had a "cel" from this on display at the Smithsonian Henson exhibit. Makes you realize the degree of dedication when you see for yourself & consider how much time went into painting just one image.
The music is great too, I especially love the long drum rolls on this and the "11 cheer" film. Sweet flashback.

A couple of years ago Brooklyn Academy of Music held a 40-year retrospective of Sesame Street short films. This was the one they chose to open the program. And there at the bottom of the screen was "Jim Henson." I'm sure that came as a surprise to many people watching. It sure would have surprised me if I hadn't already happened to find out beforehand that Henson had produced a bunch of the animated films from the first few years. I don't think many people are aware of his other talents...

Good description, ronson232 (Mamas & Papas / Brady Kids)
I'm of the "pre-Elmo" generation myself -- the old, psychedelic 'Street is best -- so I was surprised this one didn't ring many bells for me! I like it, though.
The ones that always hit a deep memory chord for me are the "jazzy spies" segments, or the ones that end with Jim Henson dressed as a chef falling down stairs ("... and that's the song of 8!")
That chef series has animated numbers that look almost just like this one ...
