BMW GS Sold, So I Got A New Bike

- Hello everyone. Yes, time marches on and events move ever closer to Aslan and I being transported and lifted onto the Bridgewater Canal, at Hesford Marine boatyard near Lymm, on the 28th February.
With about 4 weeks to go, I have now successfully 'straddled' the final hurdle (that I'm in control of) in achieving that goal, by selling the BMW R1150GS Adventure.
As a result of this (and true to a viewer's recent comment), I quickly developed an urge to buy another bike, which I'm ashamed to reveal, I have done - I show and demonstrate the shiny new machine in this video.
Also I quickly open some more viewer's mail, and at the end take you on a short journey through one of Lancashire's many staggering and beautiful natural features.

The fact that you sold the bike so quickly was probably a good thing.... better to rip the plaster off quick as possible and move on. You have some great memories and some great photos from where the BMW took you. Time for some new ones with Aslan... can't wait to see where you go, what you get up to and who you'll meet. One last ride and what a beautiful one. I don't think I could give up my bike but I don't have Aslan. I can totally understand why you would choose her. The Vulcan is my solace in this life. She keeps me sane when nothing else can. Just a little ride through the Tennessee hills and I can cope. God bless.

Kevin! We just watched a couple of your Heck's Angels videos and the double cheeseburger at the end blew me away anyway. And what real man of us would not thrill to a ride on that windy (wind-ee) mostly empty roadway with a monster vintage bike beneath him? Wow!
Wife Vicky said at the end of this one that with your fine craft, Aslan, thus lightened, why not go ahead and set sail for America? We have thousands of fine rivers and lakes here for us to enjoy watching you enjoy.

Especially a GS! I love the way they ride.
that bike is ideal for getting about and getting a few bits of food shopping in, saves walking.. make sure you have a good lock for it.

Thanks Darren. Yes it's going to allow me to travel further afield for proper shops this time. Yep, always locked up when out.
All bikers know how hard it is to part with a good bike, but I couldnt help but notice the nervous smile you had when telling us she was gone. As I have been gradually relieving myself of many valued possessions as well, I think I can relate to that feeling and have shared a similar smile. While its tough to say good bye, there is also a sense of relief and appreciation for your now lighter load.
Spot in Bill. I filmed that literally minutes after the van left, a d it just struck me at that moment that the last major thing tying me to dry land was the BMW. A sudden relief for sure.
New adventures ahead and beautifully documented old adventures to share and relive! Life is good. We love Kevin ❤❤❤
Separation anxiety is so painful, years ago I parted with mine and eventually came around a few years later to have 2 Lectric bikes . Not the same ever, ever, but they do the trick around and about. Downsizing is a tricky business sir, it takes alot of fortitude and desire to get there, best to you Kevin........the road will smoothen out and we will still be there, though some of your possession won't. Faith brother, keep strong.

Kevin it is so good to see you happy and smiling and your old self again. Makes us all happy that your happy. It's always sad to sell the things you love as I'm sure all of us have been through that now and then. But, glad to see you have another "bike". I thought I'd gone deaf or my speaker was off! 🙄 The bike is very cool and folds up really small so storage won't be a big problem on the boat. The ride at the end was just fabulous. It looked like a gorgeous day and the countryside is beautiful.

Thank you David n Pam. I knew selling the BM was the right choice, just that it happened so quick, and it only struck me whilst recording with the bike only just going, that the last major step was completed. Now a month of waiting. 😁
I like the new push bike, right? That's what you call them. 😊 Very handy to have on Aslan. I had a Honda CB 750 with saddlebags and a fairing (windshield) for touring. Loved it! Wanted a Harley, couldn't afford one. Loved riding it. But situations change. Enjoy thing as they happen 👍 XX
Hi Olivia. Yes I think traditionally they call them push bikes over here. They were pushed before pedals were invented but that was over 100 years ago, so finally us Brit's started calling them bikes - which is annoying for us biker's, cos only we ride 'bikes'. :D We call it a fairing as well over here.

Good idea getting the folding bike and very practical particularly for shopping trips. Raleigh stopped manufacturing bicycles in the U.K. in 2002 and now import badged bicycles from Asia. However, they are good value and quality. Recommend buying a good lock and fitting an alarm as folding bikes are very desirable to thiefs. Last year, my locked folder was stolen from a bicycle stand on a railway platform next to a security camera ! Never did get it back. Such is life.

Thanks for the update Kevin. Sounds good all the way around. I really liked the bike ride in the valley; reminds me somewhat of the foothills here in Western North Carolina. We have tons of these kinds of valleys and much of it has been cleared for cattle and such, and plenty of streams too.

That bike is the perfect choice for what you're doing with limited space and all . I drive a truck for a living and have been thinking about something like that to keep in shape .
I can highly recommend a bike Jason. You'll feel it in your legs for the first week but that soon passes. Great to just jump on and you'll be able to go places your local area, you've probably never seen before.
Hi Kevin, where were you riding your bike? The countryside was stunning. I like to use google maps and drop in to drive along the roads or look at the scenery. Amazing how much canal footage they have too from their biking and walking on the tow paths. It makes it easy to trip around England from the comfort of my computer chair.

I'm in Lutterworth now but I'm a Northerner, and we used go on Vintage bike rides up trough of Bowland, and all around that area up to Skipton, lovely part of the Country.

Made the right choice with the bike. A Brompton's tiny 16inch wheels would not cope well with a towpath! Looking forward to your future travels.
True, they're supposed to be twitchier and as you say, not sure how it would cope on towpaths. Fine on London streets and the train though.
The engine on the BMW is so quiet ! …which is great while Driving through towns where you don’t scare the cows, though your new folding bike will allow you to enjoy those towns and maybe bring a sugar cube or two to the horses? I love that you are not afraid to show your stuffed ‘teddy bear’ in a storm or basically, your sense of humor. 😊❤️

Great choice on your new purchase. Folding bikes are the perfect transportation option for a narrow boat. Trips to the grocery etc will be a breeze now. I’m excited about your new adventure. You earlier videos kept me sane during the beginning of the Covid lockdown. Best of luck and keep on chugging.

Love this! Anxious to hear Aslan chugging again. I mailed you a small package c/o Garstang Marina. Hope they don't mind (very small) and hope you get it. They're Chiltepins, pea-size dried hot peppers. You crush up a couple and add to your whatever. I have them every AM in my Bloody Mary. Very hot, but not long-lasting, easy to adjust to taste because they're small. They're native here in my adopted Mexico, on every restaurant table.

Kevin I am so glad to see you getting out again . You help inspire me to get an RV (american for big camper or canal boat on land lol) as we dont have the same kind of canal system its as close as we could come up with . Maybe someday the world will be sane again and I will be able to visit the UK canals . Hopefully before 2112 . Cant wait for Aslads to start chugging along the canals with the John Bonham thumping.
