I’m just glad that Channel 4 kept the famous block 4 motif. Seriously, if that logo isn’t preserved in a British TV channel logo museum in 100 years time, then that would be a disgrace.
Lot of memories associated with the logo.
I paid for a new TV aerial and raced home from work to watch the launch of Channel 4. Sounds crazy, but since the launch of BBC 2 in 1964, we had only had 3 channels. In 1982, we got the first really new channel since ITV in the 50's. Four channels. FOUR!
That logo, breaking apart and reassembling, gave me shivers.
C4 was new, innovative, daring, workmate called it Channel Swore because of the amount of bad language! Shame it's lost its edge lately
Completely agree. Nowadays, Channel 4 is taking whatever content the BBC and ITV are making and add some changes to make it original.
I love channel 4. The problem with the name is, you don't know if I'm talking about the channel or the streaming service. To clarify though, I love both.
What a lot of corporate waffle they've produced. All these PR departments just say the same crap. Wow, we've changed our website, not like anyone will even notice.

It was 4od for quite a while, just when I adjusted to all4 it changed to Channel 4. I do just call it all Channel 4 now though because that's quite simple to remember.
I still call it 4oD
It's 2024 and C4 still don't support live streams with Chromecast, that tells me far more than any of these rejigs.
it's cuz they don't want you watching E4, E4 Extra (Which isn't even available on Channel 4's streaming service) More4, Film4 or 4seven in HD without paying. I MEAN FFS IT'S 2024 HD IS THE NORM THE THIEVING B*STARDS

The fact that I said "UTOPIA" when I saw it in the All4 ad shows I need mental help.
"Channel 4 is the first public service streaming service." Then what the heck is BBC iPlayer then? Is the BBC not a public service broadcaster?
The top navbar absolutely should float with the browser window - At least on PC where space isn't at any sort of premium - and it's shocking to me that it doesn't. The CSS for that functionality is _easy_ - I do it on my personal site, and is pretty much standard for website navigation these days - Navbars, be they sidebars or vertical bars, stick to the browser window rather than scrolling with the site content. This is a criticism that applies to iPlayer as well.
ITVX's sticking for the categories submenu but not the top menu is better, at least.
The grid style... OK, normally I'm very critical of the 'corporate web' and how _samey_ everything looks these days, but for galleries - Streaming sites, art sites, etc, especially when things can be represented visually (less so for libraries of text based content or audio libraries where I tend to get on better with a list format)... The grid format really is the most useful as a site visitor. Basically, a grid of thumbnails is the best way to go for visual content - Be it art, video, I think even video games but I'm less sure of that and would certainly say no for books (or other text based content) or audio.
Channel 4 is a top off, why should we pay the licence fee for a channel that still has commercials, I say they should have there finding withdrawn.

Amazing with all the technology we have now something like NTV isn’t viable 😊 Maybe kids of today would be too protected so a segment like wait till I take you home wouldn’t be viable.

I feel like that video title is rather clickbait-y, because when you scrolled through each of the streaming services for BBC, ITV, 5, etc, none of them truly engaged me as much as Channel 4's did.
BBC had Doctor Who and... nothing much else that engaged me. ITV and 5 had barely anything. Channel 4 had a ton of incredible comedies, Adult Swim, some good movies on offer and Grand Designs. I'm aware that this is about the layout of the streaming sites, but Channel 4 at least thought about what content they should put out and laid it out better.
Why are you basically me?! Dr Who and certain genre shows on the BBC I only used iPlayer for, ITV big brother and Red Eye but channel 4 has such range

ITV isn’t a public service channel is it? “Public service” is not the same thing as being one of the 5 traditional terrestrial channels. I don’t think they have a public service remit that they have to adhere to. They are a commercial interest channel.
I might be wrong but I don’t think they are public service in the same way BBC or Channel 4 are.

I'd say Channel 4 is doing a better job of staying relevant than BBC or ITV. They gave Don't Hug me I'm scared a full series,whereas BBC and ITV shit out boring and pandering content
I second that. Quite a lot of C4’s worst content, is better than most of BBC and ITV’s best content.

Take that back itv is better channel 4 daytime programs are shit itv daytime programs are the best I don’t mind night time programs on channel 4 because of the films then again itv is same sometimes
