- We climbed the Stuibenfall Klettersteig in the Austrian Alps, a 160m spectacular waterfall tumbling down the mountainside. I loved it, Anna braved it. We made it together. Then descended via a 80m long suspension bridge over the forest canopy. Amazing doesn't even begin to explain how incredible this experience was..!

I love a via ferrata and you two took to it like ducks to water! I have a photo of me on Brigata Tridentina in the Dolomites gazing up at the Exxnor Tower which is captioned “Where does the wire go? You’re kidding! Oh, you’re NOT kidding!”. I was absolutely jiggered at the top, could barely speak. Then we had to descend steeply through snow (it was June!) on an alternative descent under our own steam because the planned wire protected route was buried under the snow. What a day out! Tip for future vias/klettersteigs - via ferrata gloves. Like fingerless cycle gloves but with big padded areas on the palms to protect from the wire and on the knuckles to protect you from the rock when clipping/unclipping. A positive boon, even if mine are a bit worse for wear!
No better place than Dolomites.......

Looks like in this case the cable to clip into is far enough away from the face to prevent Karabiner gates from opening, but as a rule the gate should face outward to avoid the gate behind pushed open against the rock. Just an observation.

The people who placed that course must have been very good climbers!!
For those wondering, this is Via Ferrata (not officially rock climbing), you don't need an additional rope. It was originally intended as a way to get on steep terrain on hiking trails (like the Vias in northern Italy), and it's seen as the intermediate step between hiking and climbing today, though on harder Via Ferratas you could need some climbing experience.
That is correct in Italy they were placed for troops to access the mountains to fight the Austrians during WW1.
That looks fabulous, where did you hire the equipment from & did the shop give you a quick demonstration on how to use?
