    Thanks for sharing! Bought a 2019 last July and promptly headed East on a 10 day trip through Quebec, Maine, New Brunswick, P.E.I. and Nova Scotia. Let me tell you there were some close calls getting stranded in the middle of nowhere. Glad to hear the tank is worth the money since its on my short list. Hope you do a follow up. Cheers!

      I'm running through a few tanks, weird to have the fuel light come on at 120/130 miles. I will be doing a review soon. Spoiler alert, I'm impressed.

    Thank you for making this video. I have done this swap-out on the gen1 vmax a couple different times. You literally have to take apart the entire back half of the bike. There is a longer video to this process, but yours is also helpful as well.

    The glasses ALMOST make it worth the effort! lol And wow what a job! I know you worked really hard to complete the task but I know you will be SO thankful for the added range when you hit the open road. The bike is so comfortable and that engine is silk it just needed that enhanced cruising range. Enjoy! Job well done man :) Oh and nice job on the vid!!

    I want and need the extra fuel capacity and range on my brand new 2020, but can’t bring myself to disassemble most of the entire bike just to fit an extra 1.75 gallons that Yamaha should have provided to begin with. I guess I’ll either be carrying extra fuel in a backpack or going for short rides with no distance touring. It’s my only disappointment with the VMAX.

    Hope that it’s working out for the long haul. I just bought a 2020 and quickly realized not to take the long way home lol. I purchased mine in Orlando and rode it back to NW Ar. I never ran out but the fuel light did come on twice.
    And Great job on your tank.

      Thanks Jared! It's holding up very well coming up to 21K miles on the bike and the added range makes for longer saddle times. Although it was 35' F this AM and she drinks a bit more fuel in the cold. Take care and ride safe! Congrats on your new bike!!

    Good job. Just got mine today. 1. What did you use to cut the white plastic fuel pump mount? 2. How do you make the filter screen/pick up point the right way? 3. Was it possible to adjust the pickup while the bike is running or knowing what you know now, how would you do it? Thanks. I like the video.

  • @petrosbondouroglou1499
    @petrosbondouroglou1499 Год назад +1

    i need to admit that THERE IS A LOT OF WORK ,in order to fit the tank.
    BUT,except the fact that the video is with VERY LITTLE DETAILS and of course you never do such a work on the grass,you fast forwarded most of the most importand things, like cutting and modifiying some cruicial parts and the difficulty of fitting the tank/subframe to the main frame.
    there are quite some major things the customer should know about what has to be done and to modify.People who sell, they dont say.
    Also, the quality of the instructions and photos,is like 30 years ago, in detail/clearness and its missing major things to mention.
    ONLY FOR EXPERIENCED MECHANICS IN ORDER TO BE DONE PROPERLY.DONT TRY ALONE.

    Keep us informed. I have a 2009 which I bought new in 2009 that is totally stock. I have been following the VMAX forums since 2009 and I have yet to see one of these tanks installed that didn't eventually leak. The problems have been cracks, bad gaskets, poor fitting, and improperly surfaced gasket faces. This sounds ridiculous but its easier to just carry an extra gallon in a bottle in your backpack if your that concerned about range.
    Here's a VMAX joke. Why is a VMAX rider like an electric car driver? They both have range anxiety.

    • @Jedz123
      @Jedz123  4 года назад +2

      Have about 2K miles on this new tank so far (20K miles on the bike) no leaks other than it super easy to over fill. Now that I've done it, I'm sure I could swap the stock tank back in quick(er). Thanks for the heads up but the quality of this tank really is top notch. I heard some other older tank designs did leak allot especially the plastic ones. I'll keep the VMAX community posted! Best,

    • @johnlontos4037

      Gasket surfaces cause leaking on my plastic 25L tank, tried everything to fix it. It's also about fuel pressure in tank and breather pipe restriction. I think the aluminium tank would be better??? The range is great though

    There are roads here around Las Vegas you would never make before running out of fuel. It's a shame because I like the bike but for long distance cruising that fuel range doesn't make it very practical.

    • @Jedz123
      @Jedz123  4 года назад +3

      New tank I'm averaging 160 (32MPG) or so miles before I NEED fuel per tank, commuting 60 miles a day minimum. Works great for me at this point. For big trips I tend to plan to get off at that point. I'm planning on installing cruise control and I should be able to push that closer 170 miles a tank. I have seen 35mpg on pure highway cruising. Cruise makes those numbers much easier to hit since your not touching the warp controller. Haha, cheers!

    • @guygourley2411
      @guygourley2411 4 года назад +1

      Jedz Moto That’s definitely better. A lot of work for that extended fuel tank. I guess one can always strap on a couple of those plastic gallon gas containers, for the just in case!

    • @Jedz123
      @Jedz123  4 года назад +1

      @@guygourley2411 hahaha I have heard folks doing that as well, it was annoying looking for fuel at 80-100 miles, at this point I feel the work has been paid off as I approach 21K miles on the machine. Next year the tank will be very beneficial as I plan to put at least 10K on the VMAX alone. May figure a plan to mount a Jerry can myself... As I do plan to make my way to Colorado and then to New Mexico from Vermont. Best,
