I was lucky enough to get tickets to a one off acoustic show 'from the room below' they did in London as a thank you for selling out the main show. Tiny venue, just Vessel and his guitar/piano and the backing singers and 500 fans. (You should react to this by the way nobody ever does it's the only time he's ever played it) There's good videos of almost every song and you can hear how good he is, but the cover of Hallelujah is something I will never forget. Seen them 5 or so times as a band too over the years, he's awesome and has only gotten better.
From what I’ve seen they are incredible live! Vessel’s voice is exactly as it is on the albums, and he has such a gorgeous falsetto! He throws in a little extra from time to time and even some extra growls and bleghs! I haven’t seen them live yet, seeing them in May in FL, but I truly expect to be blown away!
I was fortunate enough to see Sleep Token live twice last year, a show at the beginning of tour and the end of tour. Each time, they all put on stellar performances. Vessel sounds great live (to me) but he is still human. Once in a while, his voice cracks or he mixes the lyrics up. But he’s is always putting in 100%. He can definitely sing, dance, play keys live. 😂 All that stuff. Hopefully you’ll enjoy it!
Vessel sounds even better live than in the studio. His voice at concerts is full of emotion, and sounds just unreal. I haven't been to a concert, but I really want to, because from what I've seen and heard, it's incredible. Please make a reaction to "Hallelujah", this song is only available in live performance. Thank you for your reaction ❤️
I went to their Wembly show in December, the one where he lost his voice near the start, and even through all that I would still say it was some of the best live vocals I've heard especially with Espera doing the backing vocals.
When he delivers the "hey yaaaaaaaa"... I'm literally melting into my headphones!! Beau-ti-ful ❤ btw his vocals are amazing live..nothing to worry about there trust me 😁
City and Colour are amazing. I’ve been a huge fan of Dallas Green’s voice since before he even was doing solo stuff. Not sure if you’re familiar, but he did a collaboration with Alecia Beth Moore (better known as Pink) called You+Me. They did an album called rose ave. and it’s absolutely beautiful. They harmonize so incredibly. It’s my second favorite duet album ever only behind Ella and Louis
I saw them in Anaheim in October. Thankfully it was before the poor lad finally got sick in December before the Wembley show. I’m a pretty harsh critic on live vocals, and this guy truly has a gift. You’re always nervous going into a live show for the first time thinking there is a possibility that you could come home seeing your favorite vocalist in a not so favorable light… but I promise you that won’t be the case here. From the very first opening lines of “when we were made”, I knew we were in for it. The post show energy was super high, and the collective energy from the venue was that nobody left not thinking that vessel and the sleep token project were the real fucking deal. Have fun worshipping love, and I can’t wait to hear about your experience. 🖤
Definitely check out the hallelujah cover from the room below. Vessel has been known to cry a bit during some songs live and that can cause some vocal breaks. He even played a message of a conversation with sleep talking about it. “Sleep: Do you fake it? Vessel: What do you mean? Sleep: When you cry on stage, they don't think it's real. Vessel: That's a reasonable assumption. Sleep: Do you fake it? Vessel: No, I don't. But it is something I do consistently, so if I was a member of the audience I would probably assume that it wasn't real. Sleep: Do you ever see them crying? Vessel: No, I can only ever see them smiling. That's good, I want them to smile. Sleep: Do you think they want you to cry? Do you think they like it? Vessel: Not as such, I think they just want to know that I am feeling something, feeling what they are feeling, perhaps. Sleep: Do you think that this amount of crying is healthy for you? Vessel: I don't know. But at least I feel something, if I don't feel anything than why would I even do this?*
Hey lovely ashlena .. great to see you with another Sleep Token song again. Love your reactions :). Hope your daughter is well again. greetings from switzerland
You should watch the live version of Vore. The version from the channel FirstRowConcerts. It’s the one with a ton of views. Vessel does even more vocal acrobatics than in the album version. Weirdly I think it shows off his voice as much as any performance I’ve seen on RUclips.
As far as live videos, i think many can’t capture Vessel’s sound well. I’m an ultra fan but I have seen plenty of videos where he doesn’t sound incredible to me. But I’ve also seen them live and IMO yes Vessel sounds just as good if not better live, paired with the atmosphere it’s indescribable. There are also a ton of videos from this last tour when he had to sing almost every night for a full year which obviously would strain anyone’s voice. I saw them in September after 9 months of touring & thought he sounded amazing.
I’m curious to know the live vids you’re talking about lol. Should check out their live performance of Higher from Budapest park August of last year, might curb any worries you have lol. Even includes a “blegh” towards the end 😉 Would probably make for a good reaction 🤔 it’s a pretty good quality video
I've seen them live and you can tell it's him and not a track or a recording. The imperfections are there, but unless it's a really off night I think it's very close to the original. Any cracks are likely due to him crying - sometimes audibly sobbing - but I think he uses it as a way to color his voice with emotion, so ymmv. I will say it was one of the best live mixes I've ever heard and I've been to a lot of shows over the years. I know it also depends on the venue but the experience of it all lifted it above your average performance. It had an intimacy that's hard to emulate with thousands of people, but it could have been that everyone was singing at the top of their lungs. 🥲
I feel this version more aptly conveys the songs meaning , story or message . It’s a song about two people falling out of love , although the original was a club classic
I honestly wouldn't judge any band's live performances by crappy cell phone footage. Sleep Token doesn't have any professionally shot concert footage, so everything you watch on RUclips is going to be a video someone recorded on their phone, which do not have good mics to record concert audio. I've seen dozens and dozens of live Sleep Token videos, and yeah, there are a lot of videos that have really crappy audio. Even the videos with decent audio aren't capturing the dynamics of the band, something is going to be muffled or less prominent in the recording, simply because it wasn't captured with a professional mic.
Completely agree. This Vore live recording is one of the best I’ve come across, but even it isn’t close to being the PA feed. ruclips.net/video/4U8nHYGNyTk/видео.htmlsi=9APwAjKgdwivPwwj
Vessel's voice created a deep atmosphere to this song and it made me real immersed on it. I now Outkast's song but was never that fan, this version was stunning.
You should definitely check out Sleep Token's cover of "Is It Really You". The song was originally recorded/performed by Loathe - they're a newer metal band from the UK who you should definitely check out if you want some HEAVY new music - but this song is one of their more mellow tracks. Other songs to check out would be "Screaming", "Two Way Mirror", and "A Sad Cartoon".
I think the thing to understand about the live Sleep Token RUclips videos, at least the many I have watched, is that they are from fans phones. I have yet to see an official live. And one thing I have noticed is fan videos, regardless of the band or artist, are usually not great. So I wouldn’t put a lot of stock into fan videos. I see them live in May so maybe then I can verify this theory. But I agree with other reactors that the Hallelujah live performance is great.
You should also check out some recordings they did at a radio station it’s maida vale on RUclips. It sounds like they did some live recordings and had it aired on the radio years ago. I just recently found it. It’s songs from One and Two ep’s I believe.
i’ve never seen them live (though I would sell a kidney to do so lol) so I can’t speak to the live experience of hearing his vocals. but the majority of live sleep token videos i’ve watched, ones with better audio of course) he sounds absolutely amazing and sometimes even better than studio recordings. I have heard his voice break and crack but I find it to sound raw and emotional. however I get what you’re saying about the runs and added vocals that he does. personally I enjoy them for the most part but other times I think a certain run he does doesn’t fit the song and feels out of place. it seems he does different runs on a same song live and he probably does it in the moment without thought, just adding what he feels at the time. but others fit really well and are very impressive. that’s just my own opinion of course!
@@ashlenamusic yeah sometimes that’s definitely it. but we’re also all human and just do our best. there’s good and bad days, whether of course it’s a really major thing , but also when it comes to something more simple like your voice. anyways i’m very jealous of you but also excited for you to see them! tickets just sell out way too fast. but if you decide to do a vlog best believe I will be watching it to live vicariously through you 😂😂
If you are worried that Vessel's voice might not be as good live, then watch the attached link and that should allay your fears! It is a live performance of a song you have already reacted to. Enjoy. Stay safe 🤘 ✌️ ruclips.net/video/c1GpJC__53c/видео.htmlsi=hwYdCFy_r3fU7vNy
They are just as good live. Vessel does a lot of extra runs in songs that add extra goodness. The only downside I can say is the entire crowd sings every word so it can be hard to hear him at times. And an infuriating bit I’ve witnessed is people decide to hold conversations during quiet songs. I wanted to slap every chatty idiot around me during Atlantic both times I’ve seen them.
maybe you've seen clips on bad days for Vessel? I've seen a ton of clips where he sounds insanely amazing... so i'm expecting it to be a great show in May :)

We need this. I keep going back to these videos myself.
The cover of Hallelujah is literally everything
What I would’ve sacrificed to have been there!

Highly recommend Hallelujah!

Love seeing this pop up. I've been rewatching alot of your sleep token reactions. Its nice to have someone else love them too. ❤❤
Aww thanks!!

Dallas Green is incredible, like incredible. His new visual album is spectacular.
Hallelujah- Sleep Token- From the Room Below.
Will do! And yea Dallas is everything 🥰🥰

I always loved the Alexisonfire poster, but I'm glad to see the City and Colour album around too! Both are so so good
Oh I know that album well I also love pink

He’s phenomenal live, no question. Devin Townsend is the best I’ve heard, but Vessel is elite.

Moving around on stage & singing is completely different then standing still in a studio and tracking.
True but some artists do that flawlessly
True but it also depends on the style. Some vocal style are easier to duplicate live and don’t require as much control
