The blonde character on the Munsters was named Marilyn… Loved the walking tour of Napier. It is exactly what I would like to do. What a pretty area. Thanks for all the effort you put into your vlogs!
This is my hometown! There so much to see and do, come on down and check it out! We are so very grateful for the trade these cruise ships bring. They have really helped the local economy. Usually at this time of year the weather is perfect but we have recently had a weather anomaly and most of summer has been wet and cool. In my whole life living here i have never seen anything like it. If you get a chance check out the Ahuriri Village Kitchen!
Napier was rebuilt in the Art Deco style after most of it had been destroyed in an earthquake in 1931. Fully licensed means they hold a license to sell the full range of alcohol. I love the collectible shop there.
I'm really enjoying this long walk-about videos. Makes me feel like I am there exploring it as well. Thank you very much for sharing your adventures with us. Stay safe and continue having fun!
About a month ago we too were walking the streets of Napier on a rainy day. We did a car trip around NZ (4 weeks about 3000 miles) after doing the Noordam Trans Pacific. I am so sad you had such terrible weather. We had rain but not a lot (even on the West coast). Thanks for the memories, the gardens were beautiful. I loved how the downtowns in so many NZ cities were so alive. We share a bit from both of you … live in FL but spend summers not too far from Ottawa.
I’m loving your cruise vlogs. I’ve been to NZ from the U.K. twice & love it. Napier was gorgeous. ‘Fully licenced’ means they can sell alcohol. We have the same thing here. There is an interesting former prison in Napier too.
No one in chat or even Tony or Don mentioned the famous "Napier Art Deco Week-End" Every February, the building you passed earlier "The Daily Telegraph" is NOT a newspaper building any longer but a mini museum where you can purchase for instance Art deco memorabilia pertaining to the Art Deco week-End, I'm an Aussie who visited back in 2008 and have never forgotten what a great week-end we spent at that time.
Hi Tony, love watching your long video walks with Don. Thanks so much for bringing us along with you in Napier and now I feel I have been there. Your comments about the shops are great!
Hi Tony, when we came to Napier by ship we didn’t bother to get off! We have visited here quite often. As a child my family used to stay here over the holidays. Enjoying the video, thank you.
Hi Tony, I have reached the end of the video. Enjoyed watching you and Don wandering around Napier. Thank you for another great video from Sydney Australia 🇦🇺
Tony, Wow, Napier is such a pretty little city for sure. I love the walkability and shopworthiness ( I just made that word up evidentially ~ according to spell check). I am 110% on board with the extinction of the dinosaurs theory. It would be amazing to have that on a t-shirt or a mug (consider some new LLL merch???). As for KFC, extra crispy, and if they sold a box of just the crispy bits I'd be a huge fan!! Thanks for the tour today. Continued safe travels.
Napier has great antique and second hand shops. I lived there for a year and loved it but moved to my dads on the Kapiti Coast when he was diagnosed with Alzheimers so I moved in as his caregiver.
I enjoyed this walking tour of Napier. Tony, you missed the golden opportunity to try a meat pie and those pies looked amazing, just as good as you get in Australia. When you get back to Sydney, don't even consider the Bridge Climb. The people you see climbing are on the easy part and to get there you will climb ladders and walk through tight spaces.
Thx for video, I love Napier, we went in 2010 and stayed 2 nights, we were on a driving holiday in NZ, loved it, so beautiful and clean, rather like the Scandinavian countries in that respect.
TONY PLEASE READ THIS!!! Before you leave nz and possibly never come back you must try the propper kiwi snacks! The must try things are whittikas creamy milk chocolate (best chocolate in the world that can be bought from a supermarket or dairy) and either Whittikas Lewis Road Creamery chocolate milk ( nz grass fed milk and best dairy in the world ). Also if u want kiwi potato chips, then 'Eta' ready salted or whatever flavour. You tried L&p thats good, even tho is was dry and not regular. Another great kiwi thing is fish n chips, theyre everywhere its cheap and tastey hot food. Dont let down us kiwi fans!!
Hi Tony!!!! Love ❤️ 😍 💖 your content! Quick note though...when you go into a grocery store, can you pan one side of the shelves and then the other? They back and forth from left to right almost gets me seasick watching. Again love the content and watch all of your videos... just don't comment often.
Hope you enjoyed the chucken chups you bought at the dairy. If you bought some more you may have needed a trundler for your purchases. Just watch out for the judder bars in the car park, particularly if you are wearing jandals. Enjoy your remaining days in New Zulland.
What? No Diamonds International? Cariloha? Del Sol? They sure love palm trees though. 😊 Thank you for taking us on your walk. Oh, and you’re definitely a velociraptor. 😂
I am glad you guys are having a good time. After watching this series of videos of this trip I now know I will not be taking the same trip. Not being negative but like my Sept cruise to the ABC islands, what I had thought would be WOW was like oh not so much fun. It is worth my time to watch you guys as it the interaction is fun and goofy. Hope your journey home is a safe one.
Will there be any videos acknowledging Aotearoa? While in Napier why didn’t you visit Pania of the Reef. I am sure capturing some Māori mythology would have been more interesting for your viewers to see then looking in bookshops. I know your time was limited but have the cruise line given you any info on what to go and look at?
Hi Tony & Don what a shame about the weather Napier is a great town but you must have been there early so deserted. Here in Sydney 2 sunny days now it looks like rain. We have had 3 years of this weather El Nina system. Enjoy the sea days hope it's not too rough.
You must have walked twenty miles today. Wow! As usual so interesting to see all the little shops and the currency. I have learned so much about New Zealand. It has been wonderful. So sorry this is your last port and you have to run from the cyclone! I hope it does not follow you onto the Tasman Sea.
Hi Tony and Don, in answer to your query, fully licensed means that the restaurant can sell alcohol when dining, sometimes you will see BYO this would mean no license but you can Bring Your Own alcohol and they would charge a corkage fee...Hope this helps...enjoy the rest of your trip....
I dunno tony, you tease the sports content and make us watch another video? It's almost like you want us to subscribe and watch every one of your videos. I love the content. It a vicarious vacay.
I see lots of people have commented about fully licensed restaurants. It is actually much better value to go to an unlicensed restaurant and take your own alcohol, because you get to chose the wine you want, and you do not pay a huge mark up. I am sad to say that, unless the restaurant is very good, the wine selection in many licensed restaurants is not the best and often there is only half a dozen or less wines to chose from. When you get back to Sydney I recommend going to one of the non touristy Eat Streets such as in Glebe, Newtown (or even Enmore), Leichhardt, Surry Hills or one in the Eastern Suburbs, and finding an unlicensed restaurant. You go to a bottle shop and buy a bottle of wine to take to the restaurant. (If you like reds then look for a South Australian or Margaret River). Not so sure about whites but NZ does very good Sauvignon Blancs).
I'm so disappointed. Our cruise has changed the itinerary; and we are no longer stopping in Napier. I was so looking forward to it, apart from being our 30th wedding anniversary.
Fully licensed means that they are allowed to sell alcohol. It is the same in Australia. Some restaurants and cafes are also only licensed for bring your alcohol
Hey tony and Doug. Thanks for taking us along with you guys. I for one will never be able to travel to new Zealand so I have enjoyed being there with you thru the videos. Thank you so much
Fab really enjoyed your walk round napier, but you should have brought/tried a kitkat a real British staple . Feel bad your weather has been bad but still looks like you had a great time in a new part of the world.
Tony, Dorothy and I really enjoy your news and reviews, but especially when you show different places and ships. But in watching your review of Napier, I got so dizzy, especially in the small market when You would swing from one thing to another in the little market swiftly without time to focus on the shelf. Anyway, thanks for sharing New Zealand.
Seeing your Australian dollars reminded me of trying to change our money back to dollars. The Crown Currency at the dock was closed so we cashed is our AUD at the money changer at the airport … they charged us $84!!! So we didn’t change our New Zealand money or Vatus from Vanuatu. We have no one local …maybe next time we’re in Houston or Dallas we’ll find someone
I challenge you to find a burger king in Sydney when you get back. Australia does not have burger kings, they had to give them a different name in Oz, they are all called Hungry Jacks. Australia already had a Burger King Franchise in OZ from Canada that was operating so they had to come up with a different name. :) Love these videos, i just cam back from NZ on a Xmas New Year Cruise and its bringing back alot of memories for me. :)
Your information is a little off.. There was a burger King in Adelaide in the 60s.. The franchise owner of hungry jacks is a Canadian. The first hungry jacks was opened in Perth in 1971
Yeah I could pretty much watch Tony and Don exploring different ports of call all day. You guys wander around like I do!
Me too
The blonde character on the Munsters was named Marilyn…
Loved the walking tour of Napier. It is exactly what I would like to do. What a pretty area. Thanks for all the effort you put into your vlogs!
It's kinda cool seeing your own town from a tourists perspective
Thank you Tony & Don for a lovely day. The flowers, the shops, as well as the music taking you back to the ship. Awesome!
Really enjoying your trip and both of you guys videos. Making the best of it, weatherwise. Gotta love it.
Absolutely love these walking tours! I think going into shops and grocery stores is a great way to get the feel for an area. Keep up the great work.
Thanks for taking us on your cruise and tours, enjoyed it. Learned a lot about New Zealand.
Living vicariously through you both. I am loving these videos! Thank you!
Even though it’s rainy, it’s still nice to walk around and explore. Thank you for your content.

Y’all’s friendship makes me happy! So fun to watch y’all having fun!
Impressive how clean and tidy the streets and sidewalks are...
That's normal over here.
Napier was rebuilt in the Art Deco style after most of it had been destroyed in an earthquake in 1931. Fully licensed means they hold a license to sell the full range of alcohol. I love the collectible shop there.
Tony, your sense of humor makes your tours such fun. 😁
You do such a great job; we feel like we're there with you & Don.
KFC: extra crispy. 😋
I'm really enjoying this long walk-about videos. Makes me feel like I am there exploring it as well. Thank you very much for sharing your adventures with us. Stay safe and continue having fun!
I always think of Tennyson's "Crossing the Bar" when we're in high seas. Thanks, as always, for the walking tour Tony (& Don).
Love this! I love to enjoy exploring the local areas of places I visit! This is WONDERFUL! Enjoy!
Tony Great Thank You for sharing.

Nice video! Please, don’t erase it never, never. It’s one of my favorites!
I’m loving your cruise vlogs. I’ve been to NZ from the U.K. twice & love it. Napier was gorgeous. ‘Fully licenced’ means they can sell alcohol. We have the same thing here. There is an interesting former prison in Napier too.
Canada does the fully licensed thing too, in Ontario anyway
Hi Tony, the Public Trust Office was one of the very few buildings to survive the earthquake. Therefore it’s older than the Art Deco buildings.
Thank you for the tour videos. I will be in the same area beginnning March 4th! Love seeing his preview of my tours!
Hi Tony, love watching your long video walks with Don. Thanks so much for bringing us along with you in Napier and now I feel I have been there. Your comments about the shops are great!
Enjoying these bus tours . I thank you
I'm from hawks bay it's so cool to see you exploring there!
This town reminds me of a few towns in New Jersey, very pretty! Thank you for taking us there!😊
Exactly what I said about the previous one!
Hmmm. Where in NJ looks like this? As a native Jersey girl, I'd like to know. Maybe Cape May and Egg Harbor/Smithville area?
Hey Tony. I absolutely love the walk and talk videos. IMO, some of your best work. Thank you.
Hi Tony. That was a pretty good tour for only Being there a few hours. As always, thank you for all you do!
Marilyn Munster.
Thanks for the video. Peace.
The Munsters' niece was Marilyn. Don't forget Spot, the pet dragon under the stairs.
Great videos as always, Tony! 👍
Very pretty town. Fun to explore!
These are amazing cruise vlogs it’s great to see you and Don together, glad you are enjoying the cruise x
That was a great walk about town! Getting in alot of steps, keep it up... Looks beautiful... love this series, even if it is raining...
We are definitely following each other around the world. We just published our Napier video. Love your footage. Good to see both you and Don here.
Great video, enjoying your exploration of this small town! I always like to see the local shopping. Hope you seas are smooth as you leave today!

Travel is an adventure. Beats a day at home, because when you're home, well you're home wishing for the next adventure. You have my sympathy for sure
Nice clean area. Thanks for taking me on that walk!
Napier has great antique and second hand shops. I lived there for a year and loved it but moved to my dads on the Kapiti Coast when he was diagnosed with Alzheimers so I moved in as his caregiver.

Fully Licensed typically refers to the fact that that can serve alcoholic beverages
Great tour guys. Thanks for sharing
Hi Tony!!!! Love ❤️ 😍 💖 your content! Quick note though...when you go into a grocery store, can you pan one side of the shelves and then the other? Love Napier. Hope you guys return one day to NZ and visit Picton, trust me it's worth it!
Love this
Hope you enjoyed the chucken chups you bought at the dairy. If you bought some more you may have needed a trundler for your purchases.
Just watch out for the judder bars in the car park, particularly if you are wearing jandals. Enjoy your remaining days in New Zulland.
"Fully licensed" means that they can serve alcohol. Thanks for the informative video.
❤️❤️👍👍 thank you
Got some beautiful scenery
Great video, thank you Tony , enjoy your day !!

;)
Thanks for the tour
👍
Really enjoying your walk with Don. I love KFC original best!
Love the Napier vibe! Like Lincoln Road in South Beach, on the other side of the planet.
Stinks that you guys are having bad weather, but glad you guys are having fun
This was great. Thanks!
Love the walk n talk videos! 👍🏾
I had a similar walk around Napier whilst on a Royal Caribbean cruise in February 2016, it was raining that day too!
I am glad you guys are having a good time. After watching this series of videos of this trip I now know I will not be taking the same trip. Definitely enjoyed that!
Bienvenidos a Napier y hastings
Great tour of Napier! You covered a lot of ground…curious what your step counts are averaging! Safe trip ahead
I think it was 8k
We'll be there in November. On our 30th wedding anniversary day.
You must have walked twenty miles today. Wow! As usual so interesting to see all the little shops and the currency. I have learned so much about New Zealand. It has been wonderful.
So sorry this is your last port and you

Thanks for showing the name of the handbag shop! Found them online!!
Ah vegimite my weekly treat 😊

Looks like kind of a Miami vibe with the Art Deco. Nice clean town without a homeless presence, at least from the camera perspective.
I see lots of people have commented about fully licensed restaurants. It is actually much better value to go to an unlicensed restaurant and take your own alcohol, because you get to chose the wine you want, and you do not pay a huge mark up.

You should’ve bought Cadbury Caramilk chocolate, divine
You should explain what Art Deco is and why Napier is the Art Deco capital of NZ.
Great feedback! Thanks!
I'm so disappointed. Our cruise has changed the itinerary; and we are no longer stopping in Napier. I was so looking forward to it, apart from being our 30th wedding anniversary.
I've never seen L&P Dry you discovered a new Flavour Tony👍

The doors on those buses are on the wrong side! Hee Hee
You can tell Don is Canadian he just has a tee shirt on while the others have flannel and hoodies haha

Wow, the look on the girl at the counter at the golf place... 😮. Would it hurt her face if she smiled? Damm.
There was a cyclone in February..Hawkes Bay got a bit knocked about. Bad flooding and several deaths.

I like handbags with lots of pockets inside and out.
In Canada a licensed restaurant can sell beer, wine and liquor
Dang....I feel bad that you are all having to run from bad weather and missing g extra fun ports, but, in all reality, safety is #1.
The snack I can't find on a cruise ship--potato chips!
Usually there is plain ones for room service, you might check there.
