- For string quartet and reader. Composed by Graham Flett in 2011. The text, which is read by the composer, is from Robert Burns' "Is There for Honesty Poverty" (better known as, A Man's a Man For A' That). The reader tries to read the poem during the empty spaces that arise from the string quartet performing an open type of notation. The piece ends when the reader has finished reading the poem.
DISCLAIMER - This video is exclusively for the promotion and dissemination of my music, so that it may be heard and studied by anyone interested. Musicians/ensembles have NOT been mentioned or named. This has not been done out of neglect, forgetfulness or disrespect but largely because this performances was recorded live; therefore, the audio documentation has not been subjected to the intense level of exactitude, editing, and over-scrutinizing that most musicians/ensembles feel is necessary in order to represent their skills. Moreover, I cannot assume the musicians performing this work will - for various reasons - want to be associated with this performance. Thus, any requests to remove this video (or more cheerful notifications that you or the ensemble want to be specifically mentioned in this description) can be directed to me personally. Please do so either through this channel or by contacting me through my website.
