Big news! We're going to have our first Zoom meeting for our online community on Wednesday, December 22, 2021. Zach and I will have the meeting open from 2pm - 6pm CDT. I hope this window is big enough so that those of you in other countries can find a good time to stop by. Some of our local friends will be dropping in throughout the meeting. In my life, I make a distinction between making a sacrifice and being unworthy to make a sacrifice,; which is why I could never practice hyper-Calvinism. In order to give something up, I have to remember that I have some inherent worth, simply because God loved me first. From this point, I am truly a free agent and capable of making sacrifices of self, for the purpose of becoming closer to God and eventually, a citizen of Heaven. Luther understood his medieval monastic misunderstanding 'I am but a worm' theology gets in the way of intimacy, because to maintain this level of worthlessness, you must revisit it constantly; especially when confronted by other Christians, testing your identity in Christ.
@@withjonadams - i am afraid it has been about 30 years since I've read any Luther. I do remember that his comment was made before he left the Catholic Church and lead to his Solas.

I read some Luther in seminary but I’m not a Luther scholar. Do you remember where he says this? I’d like to read the section
