Syphus had to have been here
Have a bad Floppy drive on my SE/30 and finding replacement parts for these that work is impossible. Thanks for making this! Bought one today.
If I'd known someone was going to do this one day, I would have kept some of my old Macs so I could play my old favorite games. I once had 21 Macs.
I never had any Macs back in the day (just NOW started collecting them LOL), but when I think of all the "junk" we tossed or otherwise destroyed back in the day that is now collectible, it hurts my heart!
@@BollingHolt well theres nothing you can do about now. Its not worth worrying about.
FloppyEmu is a game changing device, and a true value for the price. Think of how things were not so long ago with ADTPro, null modem cables, Asimov, etc. Light years ahead solution. I've been a proud owner of a model B FloppyEmu for a few years now and use it all the time. The latest configuration is booting Total Repllay on my IIC+. Just wanted to express my thanks and gratitude for making this available.
Looks like you can't get any more straightforward than this device. I ordered an Apple IIe complete with green monochrome monitor on ebay and just bought your disk emu controller. Haven't played with the Apple II since elementary school, but it was the first device I ever played MECC Edutainment games on... been a MS-DOS to current PC guy all my life, However it will be great to have this all set up next to my IBM 5150. Thanks for coming up with a device like this. This is just as good as the XTIDE project for vintage pc's. Guys like you keep the good memories from fading away.
Hey man, my apple IIe and the floppy emu arrived at my house on the same day. Plugged everything in and started up the computer for the first time and the floppy emu worked like a dream! Highly recommend!! Good work man!
Thanks for making this. Just bought one from you and it’s solid! Works so well. Cheers!
Just placed my order for one of these lil guys. Can’t wait to get it in the mail!!
Awesome I'll be buying one of these from you soon for my IIc!
Mine is supposed to arrive Monday! I can't wait!!!!!
Bolling Holt OH YES!!!
Steve can I use the Emu to move files from an SE to the SD Card (pull old files off to use on a modern Mac)? Thanks!
This is..... Amazing.
Just placed my order!
This is so cool!!! Might have pick one up for my //e!
Blake Ray yay!
I still have some old macs so I will probably buy one from you some time in the future. Do you make a simple version with a plain SCUSI connector ?
I can not say better things about this product. I've been able to rescue 4 macintosh and one Apple II computers thanks to this. It is such a great and well thought device. One of those things I feel so glad I have bought. Thanks @Stevechamberlin :)
夏の疲れ などに十分に注意をして無理はせずに、がんばってほしいです。
I just got the floppy emu for my apple iie platnum, works good, no ADTPro, no disk errors, just play the game off the sd card, i miss the noise of the floppy drive though.
He has a device that you can add to this so that it makes the floppy sounds.
is there video for assembling the acrylic case?
Can you make a video of how to use the floppy emu as a hard drive on a Macintosh because I am new to floppy emu
So I imagine the read and write speeds are dependent on the floppy connector?
Cute happy mac
Have you got one for the Powerbook 1400cs
how to make the .dsk file run without padlock on floopyEmu?
Hi there. I am new to the whole Apple II thing. I've wanted one ever since I was a kid. I just picked up an Apple II e Platinum. Do you know if that meets the smartport requirements you mention? Thanks! and very cool!
If you install the Apple II firmware, the Emu board is compatible with the IIe as a 5.25 inch disk emulator. The IIe doesn't support intelligent Smartport devices, so you won't be able to use the Emu as a hard drive on that machine. The IIgs and some models of IIc have support for intelligent Smartport devices - see compatibility table in the manual and web site.
you sound like Glen Tennis from the Tim and Eric awesome show "Grum" skits. I know that's extremely specific but it just shot out at me for some reason
Hi. Just wondering, can I daisy chain this to 2 undisk drives?
Still for sale? I am getting my old Mac classic up and running
the fact that there are working vintage computers out there is very impressive, I had a bunch of these old boxes but they all died one by one.. My Vintage Quadra 605 and newer pizza boxes withe the 040 processors all need hard drives and I have been looking for a solution like this for a while but it looks like you guys have not yet figured out a solution to put one on the end of a 50 pin scsi cable and boot the system on anything newer than an LC if I read correctly ? great work guys ! let me know if there is a solution for the newer than LC systems. thanks.
SCSI2SD is a good HDD replacement, it replaced my power mac 6100's hdd that died on me, i guess why your macs die one by one is cause of the crapacitors that those macs had are prone to leaking and they need to be replaced asap, as well as the pram battery which leaks too
I was expecting a device wich fit on the fdd bay.
I need buy ONE please
Does the original Apple IIc have to be modified to support this device as a SmartPort device? I have a ROM 255 Apple IIc (pre-UniDisk 3.5" support)
+runforit420 Correct, Apple IIc ROM 255 does not have SmartPort device support. All the later ROM versions do.
If the ROM is upgraded, is SmartPort supported?
+runforit420 Yes, any ROM version newer than 255 will have SmartPort support.
I have seen some ROM 03 upgrades on eBay - thanks.
What is HD20
Will an Apple iic boot from a floppy emu with it plugged into the external floppy port?
No, you need to buy a separate floppy disk switcher.
Could you use this to make backups of diskettes?
If you use Disk-Copy on say OS 8 / 9 and this device supports disk write I would think so.
What I do and recommend is use a computer with OS9 that has a disk drive and USB ports. Use disk-copy to make image files and copy them to the USB drive.
what? wait? This port isn't just for floppydrives? I did not know that it does actually support hard drives. I think I will get one of your boards ...
Are the schematics and firmware available? I'd love to use one of those, but the pricetag is just silly considering the hardware probably costs something around $20
Does anyone know how to exactly install the Macintosh firmware?
I have links for the firmware but do I just drop it onto my sd card?
There's a readme file included with the firmware, with step-by-step instructions and link to an instruction video. FYI, I responded to your emails but they are rejected by your me.com server with a "user is over quota" error. Please contact me from a different email account if you need more help. I don't normally monitor RUclips comments.
Ok thanks
Maybe one more question
I’ve found a scsi utility online that I want to get into my Mac se?
How do I do that? Do I just drag the disk image onto my micro sad card? Does it have to be a disk image? Is there anyplace I should put it?
I’m assuming if I download and install the Macintosh firmware I’d put in the utilities folder?
Out of Stock ;-(
Wow !🍎🍎🍎🍎🍎
DO you ever respond to emails? I have sent several already. I am not sure if that is just laziness or bad business practice or what is up. However, as a tip, people are more inclined to do business with you , when you converse with them
Hi Michael, I haven't received any emails from you - are you sure you have the correct address? You can also post questions in the comments section of the Floppy Emu web site, and I'll answer them there.
I won't leave comments' But I have emailed you, maybe you have problems with your email service, but I contacted you over your website
I will contact you on your Facebook page this time.
im-u-lay-tor not e-moo-lay-tor.
I'm guessing this device wasn't $110 before the chip shortage. At $110, there are many, many alternatives at less than 1/2 the price.
anyone here from subbreddit
Link ?
Great work but for a computer you can get for $40, $130ish dollars seems like a bit much. Maybe get in contact with a manufacturer that can make products at a low cost. Great work though! Keep it up.
Don't send your computer to MacCaps! He doesn't fix your gear and keeps your money. I don't know what happened to Charles but he's hurting people.
