2018 Honda Accord Trunk Strut Mod

On this week's episode will be installing some trunk struts on my Honda Accord to fully open the trunk when I tap the trunk handle or click the trunk pop button. The kit I bought is from Amazon found here...

I having an issue with mine. The pieces in the back rotate… they didn’t bite into the mount the right way and swivel. Struts fall off when I close trunk because it rotates.

I installed these a year ago and now it has problems in the initial phase going up, those ball joints for the shock crack easily when over tightening, I’ve broken 3, the threads come loose overtime and eventually spin and cause the shock to malfunction

I'll put blue loctite on should they loosen. Also might look for a couple of lower lbs struts to use, not sure what the struts are rated to but seems like it could be 10-20lbs less strength.

@@JustaHondaAccord it’s too late to put loctite in the nut you put into the interior of the truck liner, that’s the one that fails and causes the ball joint to spin

Hey i have a question. Have you had an issue where your steering wheel was off when you’re going down a straight road. The dealership fixed it finally but it wasn’t a alignment issue after they figured out i was getting alignments too soon. The steering column needed to be straightened. They said it could happen with the lane follow and it might throw it off.

How come you havent put in a aftermarket exhaust system ???! I got a 2019 honda accord 2.0 manual and got dc sports cat back and love it.. im just curiouse?

It's around a grand for an exhaust and have found other mods I would rather do with the money.

I'm sure you can, not sure if the struts would. Be the same length that was used on a 10th gen for a 9th gen.

How are the struts holding up with the vibration from your subwoofer? Any rattling noises?

The struts held up till I sold the car. No issues.

Can you do this same thing for the hood

Possibly but would be a lot more concerned about damaging hood sheet metal than the trunk hinges.
