I'm having a lot of trouble strumming chords that only strum the last five strings, like Am because every time I come up, it's hard to strum without hitting that low E. Is there anything I can do to help?

Also, this is one of most instances in popular music where you absolutely should not bar the F chord. Play it and you understand it's better voice leading. That E7 is absolutely essential to Blues.
