Correct observation, our manager decided to revert to type at the business end of the season, going back to the midfield three which struggled to get results pre Dubai, is it naivety or is it arrogance?Partey is back from injury and more than one month after his return he is being rested ,Partey should be interchanging with Georginho in that deep lying defensive midfield role and we wouldn't struggle to get a result against a Villa team which was slapped 4:1 by City last week, yesterday's debacle is squarely on Arteta. How is the defensively inept Zinchenko playing almost the whole game against pacey Villa wingers? With due respect to Arteta he goofed it yesterday against Villa.

45:20 just shows exactly what these guys and other Arsenal fans online are. Reactionary and want the whole world moved and altered when one bad thing happens. He makes a massive call that Raya hasn't offered us anything better (when we've made massive improvements defensively which isn't just attributed to the back 4 which was the exact same back 4 as last year), only for him to say he hasn't really looked at the goal when asked what he's referring to. "Just do something". Okay, Raya should just grow an extra limb and learn to fly. 5 minutes ago we were the best in the league and amazing.
Now all of a sudden one loss where we should've been 2-3 up by HT, and the summer transfer window gets questioned, Havertz is questioned even though he's been one of our best and most consistent for the last 3 months and been a gamewinner. Arteta's tactics and team selection is being questioned even though most of these guys said they wouldn't mind seeing Zinchenko or Jesus in for this game. Same old rubbish. I'm not defending the team yesterday, they were absolutely flat second half and were far too profligate in front of goal in the first half. But this team for two years straight now has given us every reason to not only believe, but they've earned the right to be supported wholeheartedly (not claiming that these guys aren't supporting or not going to support).

You can not tie our clean sheets to Raya. It's our backline that has given us those clean sheets. We have very few chances and shots against us, but still, somehow Raya's save percentage is among the worst in the league.
Then look at when our defense where choking, such as against Aston villa and bayern. Raya is nowhere to be seen. Made a mistake for Bayern's first goal, then a horrendous attempt at saving Kane's penalty. Now against Villa, he should have foreseen the first goal's cross across the box and thereby closing down that small area. Besides from these instances, he nevers digs us out of the mud with any wonder saves. His distribution is not even anything crazy. Against Brighton and City his kicking was shocking, and Arsenal's best long balls this season has come from Ramsdale. Remember Ramsdale's ball to Reiss?

    • @AndreeM19
      @AndreeM19 9 месяцев назад

I don't think it's just about that, it's about mentality. The mind is the most important thing in football. From the outside we've seen your teams mentally falling apart for a while now. City has a better way to distribute their energy. When everyone criticizes them at the beginning of the season and overhyped their own players, it was pretty obvious that they weren't giving 100% because they were building a better mentality, they lost some players and brought new ones that needed to settle. It was a matter of time that their winning mentality click again and destroy you.
You all put to much energy in the wrong things. If your players don't struggle a little bit at the beginning, you are doing something wrong and they will struggle later in the moment you needed them the most. Look at Szoboszlai and Mac Allister. I think the middle is the most important thing and you have put such a responsibility over the shoulders of 2 inexperienced, young guys (plus Endo who doesn't have experience in big teams). Did you really expect them to be able to win 4 trophies and perform perfectly from start to finish in their first season at such a big club? Now they seem tired and clumsy at times. You put too much effort and minutes into a stup!d Carabao Cup, got too cocky about winning 4 trophies and now it looks like this is all you're going to get. Did you see Pep or Man City talk about the treble before it happened?
Look at Arsenal's overconfidence after winning 6-0 against struggling teams, we all knew that as soon as they got slapped they would crumble and they did. They have the good players to get this far but they don't have the mentality to go forward

Arteta needs to make a decision whether he wants to play Havetz as a 9 or an 8. Time for experiments is over. I've never seen a player swithcing positions between a center forward and a box to box midfielder. Havertz looked like he needed a bit of rest anyway, and this man puts him at a completely different position, the one where he needs to cover so much ground. It's not right.

I'm Irish and we support our team to the end, see the 4-0 beating we got from that Elite Spanish team in the Poland/Ukraine Euro's, when in the 82nd minute, knowing we were out of the tournament after just 2 group stage games, then one voice started to sing the 'Fields of Athenry', which then reverberated right around the stadium long after the final whistle.
When you view it on RUclips, 'Spain 4-0 Ireland Euro 2012', try and read some comments from other countries fans to see what they thought of the spirited Irish fans. A fan from Morocco on getting home from work, with his young son watching the game, on hearing the sheer volume of noise from the Irish fans, he naturally thought Ireland were beating the World Champions 4-0, then on seeing the score brought him to tears.
Brazilian fan wrote how he felt disgusted how when they were losing to Germany 3-4-5 nil in the WC14, some of their fans burnt their own flags in the stadium, yet these fans were singing their hearts out 4-0 down.
Even if Arsenal fans stayed seated in silence would be better than walking out early.
That's the fans over with, now Arteta, WTF was he putting Havertz back in midfield, it's akin to not letting your cat into the kistchen, for it has not only worked out how to open the fridge, but the freezer section too and then procedes into devouring all the ice cream.
And then one day (yesterday's game) you inexplicitly permit the cat entry into your kitchen.
Now don't cry on our shoulders Arteta, about having no ice cream/Title to go with your jelly brain tactics in this Villa game.
The worrying signs were clearly there, that the players were wilting under pressure, Porto, the Bayern game with Laurel & Hardy defending and then yesterday.
Some of our fans saying we are still in it, if CITY drop points, but I believe they will just go on a 6 winning streak but even if they do, do you, for I don't see us winning every game!
I always felt this Villa game, sandwiched between the pressure Bayern games, was the one that stood out as the biggest concern.
Emery did the same thing, picking a weakened team for PL, due to the Europa semi's, which cost us the 4th spot (e.g. lost to Palace), then lost the semi's, meaning our 2 tickets into the CL were torn in two by the ticket inspector.
Arteta prioritised the Bayern game, that could well have blown us the title, who really, truly believes even if we get past Bayern, we'll then get past CITY or Real Madrid, then beat Barca/PSG/Atleti in the final?
The PL was in our hands, with 7 games to go, not having to play CITY/LIV again, decent GD avantage, it should've been our No1 target!

He doesn’t actually run properly if you watch his legs, gets himself in awkward body positions when he has to run with the ball. Jesus is the opposite; he’s always looking to find a reason to take an extra touch in situations where he has to be one touch

Agree with a lot of the game analysis and the assessment of our current squad, but I think you guys have totally overlooked the fact that we've played one of the best teams in the world in mid week, in a tough game where we had to come from behind. We were playing once a week (or every 2 weeks!) for most of 2024. When did we drop points vs West Ham and Fulham? In the very busy Christmas period. Yes we got results vs Porto, but were we good in those games? No. This team ain't built for big games every few days. At least not the way Arteta has been managing the squad. We're one of the best once-a-week teams in the world, but I knew UCL would trip us up. We had to focus on one over the other, or switch up the game plan or something. It looks like the season may be over on all fronts in the space of a week, which goes to show we haven't learnt lessons as much as we should have, and it's PTSD from the Arsenal of old... where we regularly saw us bow out of 2 or 3 competitions in the space of a week or two. Disappointing lads.

But no, he brings on ESR for Odegaard, takes off Ben White, and brings on Jorginho.... how can he get it so wrong? We lost against Newcastle and Villa with Havertz in midfield. And Zinchenko is primarily an attacking fullback. The crowd was so pissed when he went half assed into that challenge against Tielemans that allowed Tielemans to strike a bender and barely missed it. He needs a real striker to lob the ball to. Jesus isn’t helping Arsenal they need a Hojlund or a Sebastian Haller type

If we win all the games we will probably win the league as City probably won’t win all their games. It’s statistically improbable that you will have two teams enjoy a winning streak simultaneously and City winning would mean them winning their last 9. The problem is that we won’t have the mental fortitude to win all the games left. Imagine we swapped both sides and City had the better goal difference - they lose at home to Villa and we beat Luton 5-1 at the weekend to go 2 pts clear with 6 games left. City wouldn’t think it was over and they would know that they need to put thoughts of the title to one side and just smash the other teams in the next 6 games. Of course if we drop anymore points it’s completely done. I’ll be so proud of these guys if they can actually win the last six

I felt if we got on top with 3 games to go it would be easier for us to manage. Our Goal difference is superior to theirs though so all things being equal if they draw one and we win all ours we win the league because That leaves us level on points with them. With six games left there’s definitely room for one more major twist in this race
