I like to do a drill where a put my left hand on top and my right hand on bottom( I’m right handed it would be the opposite for lefty) of a frisbee and go through my swing and throw the frisbee when I get to extension so if my wrist is rolled the the frisbee will just drive into the ground and if I throw the frisbee right it will why like a normal frisbee into the net ( I usually stand about ten feet away from the nest so I can make sure I’m getting a clean spinning frisbee and it’s not wobbling at all so I know I’m doing it perfect) sound like a good drill to you? I feel like it’s a perfect drill for this
Spine angle, forward tilt, hip hinge, or whatever you want to call it is key to bat path. Stand too erect and path will be too steep. Too late in zone and prone to roll over. Its that simple. The difficult part is adjusting forward tilt to the elevation of the ball.
What about follow through? Top hand release vs 2 hand follow through. Two hand follow through will inevitably lead to roll over at some point of the follow through. How do you not roll over with a 2 hand follow through?
You are correct but if you follow what he is instructing, the roll over on a two handed follow through will happen well after contact not prior to or simultaneously.
Another point that we have seen and deal with is the rolling of the top/front hand. Even though they are on the path the front hand seems to roll prematurely and cause same results. We tried a variety of things, curious to hear your take! Thanks
Hey Matt, I'm having a similar problem, however I seem to be popping up a lot of balls and not sure where to correct my swing. I feel like I'm taking too big of a step in my load, causing my hands to lag behind and I'm pulling off it but I'm not exactly sure. Any tips would be greatly appreciated!
I had that same problem I got told that when I was swinging I was dropping my back shoulder and now swinging right at the ball and I was bringing it around and under to pop up the ball
Is there a way I can send you a video of my swing so you can look at it and tell me what’s wrong with it? I’ve lost a lot of power because I was injured and kept playing which caused bad habits but I’m not sure what they are or how to fix them. Let me know if you can help. Thanks
Great topic but the swing is happening so fast that there is no time to think palm this or that...I found isolating the palm roll so it's the last part of the swing sequence really helps..And by isolation I mean a 30 degree wrist roll over the front of the plate...To do this the body tilt must be -30 degrees through the swing...
mrseaweed1000 I was having the same issue a while back. Try stopping your swing at contact point to see if there's any issues with your mechanics (such as back elbow getting too far from the body or pulling knob off the ball with lead hand) or if you're just set up too close or too far from the plate.

This is a great video and this would be golden for someone that has a lot of power

This is great. I’m working on this problem with my daughter now.
I just pulled my forearm from trying to cut the ball (softball) and I will assume rolling my wrists. Good information 🤙🏾 find the right path
Wow. I needed this video 🙏🏾🙏🏾
Great video

Matt, basically one hand drill is the best, cos you can't hit a ball on tee without top hand palm up, that will fix it
