hello chat. i've been playing bass for 4 months (not nearly as frequently as i should be) and was wondering how long it would take before i'm expected to play this flawlessly if anyone knows.

It doesn't take long if we are serious about doing it, sis, cheer up :)
I can't remember exactly, but I memorized the whole song within a month or two of practicing back when I first started (I was busy cause I was in highschool) but if you're dedicated it shouldn't take very long.
take it from a guitarist who started from bass, playing flawlessly is a never ending goal the more you learn the more you realize small things that requires practice esp. time keeping groove feeling and stuff. But to keep it simple i think u mean like being able to playthru the whole song id say this song isnt particularly hard technicality wise so maybe like half a year? of casual practicing. IMO the hard part is the off beat groove riff that really takes time to get your fingers to be able to play with great time and im still practicing on that
