Whoa! That’s awesome! Thanks for following since close up magic. So much has happened! Built a ginormous magic illusions, took over a few museums and now we are finally moving everything online. So much more to come, can’t wait to hear what you think of all of it. Decades in the making!
Nice, with all my nieces and nephews being in and out of school so much these days, I have been wanting to get them excited about science and love it as much as I do with fun easy to do at home experiments. I know science classes can be very boring so my thinking is only show them the exciting experiments .
Hope you enjoy them as much as I do! Btw I hated boring science too, so if they can let their teacher know there’s impossible science lesson plans for schools available for free at impossiblescience.com
Well a full can is much heavier, but yes. If you want to create lift you need to have a change in air pressure. You would need to get it moving super fast and spinning... and at that point the effect would be minimal but to your point you are technically right. Look up Magnus Effect planes. Mind blowing!
Well there are a couple parts to this because the rubber band stretches so does that mean longer? So let me break down the two main parts. Getting the cups to spin faster by winding it up tighter creates more lift, but in this case the forward motion (tension in the sling shot) is what creates the air moving over the cup that is being assisted by the rotation. So if you can increase either of those it should fly farther
Thank you! I remember watching your performance when on RUclips several years ago. The clear ball and cup act was amazing. Thanks for this video. Gonna do this project with me kids.🙂🙏
Thank you! I never really post videos on YT but I figured given everyone stuck at home right now I could turn experiments from my museums into videos and have some fun. Hope your kids get their minds blown by science!
It’s AMAZING! I love that video. I’ve been telling people in the comments to go check that out when they ask if it can be turned into a plane. I’ve always wanted to build one. After this first set of home experiment vids I’ll start posting not for home experiments... and then I’ll eventually get to build a few bucket list ideas.
Idk with a cup but you can use a similar method to create a difference in air pressure with a compressor and a ball. Check out the Impossible Science on the Coanda Effect and you can see how an air compressor could be used for levitation
OR, you can have you cup mounted to a hidden armature and run inside your shirt. Just make sure your camera angle doesn’t show your shirt opened slightly under the button that’s directly behind the cup.
Hi impossible Science, I let my students conduct the experiment with two balloons. I and my students rote learning that a higher velocity of the air creates lower pressure and the opposite, a lower velocity of the air creates higher pressure. But I couldn't find any equation to prove it, even when I tried to use Bernoulli's principle. What I got is almost the opposite. So, could you show me any math equation that proves higher velocity of the air will be caused the pressure to lower? Thank you!
I he changed the original picture on this video after the click bait complaints so he does care about his channel . So I will give it another go good job on the change.

At 0:33 he says it’s an illusion. The science is about how could you really make a cup fly. Every episode is about going from fake to real through science
