  • World War 2 Bomber. Pistol Packin Mama was a B-24 in the 15th Air Force 464 Bomb Group, 776 Squadron during 1944.
During World War 2 B-24 Bomber crews had a 44.4% casualty rate. The life expectancy of a World War 2 Bomber crew was 11 mission.
The B-24 Liberator Bomber was the most produced world war 2 bomber.
Pistol Packin Mama was flown from Topeka Kansas to the European Theater by the crew of Capt. George Leggat. The crew included my Grandfather, Lt. McCord "Mickey" Marshall who was the co-pilot on Capt. Leggats B-24 crew.
I put together this tribute in recognition of my grandfather and the men who fought with him.

My great uncle, Murray Price (1921-2021), lended me a video of his flight aboard a B24 with this livery, on VHS, filmed in 1990. He was a pilot of a B24 during the war. I was probably 6 years old, but it left a lasting memory. Now I'm making it a mission to ride in as many of these old warbirds as I can.

That's awesome. I have not had an opportunity to go for a ride in a B-24, however back in the early 80s I went to an airshow at Hill Air Force Base with my grandpa. A B-24 was on display. My grandpa told them he flew 24s in the war, showed them his officer ring and we were allowed to climb into the plane. Grandpa gave me a tour of the plane. That's for watching & commenting. 👍 Sean

@@ouRVisionnomadicliving the commemorative air force does tours each year. There are plenty of flying B25's, but only 3 B17's flying in the US, and 2 each of B24's and B29's. You're looking at between $400 and $800 for rides. It's worth it.
