I got myself a 91' 250DXC, those early 90s and late 80s motors run so incredibly smooth and have serious low end and top end power, from what I hear KTM really did them right before de-tuning in 92-93. They are highly underrated and mine is on the original top end with full compression😅
I have come across a few of the 550’s in the last couple year’s. Finding parts and left side kick start has detoured me. Seeing these inspires me to buy if I find another. Awesome bikes👍

I still have them!!
Love those old school + new Katooms! Remember the 1997 540 sx the 1st 4-stroke to race against the 250 2-strokes.
Yes indeed!!
440 tuned is a beast!! Looks the best too.
Agreed.
Very nice collection
Cool,clean bikes
If the 440 is low on power maybe it needs top end job.
What’s the difference between a 1989 and a 1991 cheers
The 1991 KTM's had white plastic with red striped down the tank & the KTM lettering in a blue circle.
Same all over except fork, brake revisions and low boy pipe. And colors.
Oh crap forgot the longer stroke 500. Hp went from 62 to 65
I always thought the KTM 440 was a four stroke
He he. Def a 2 banger. The 500 is a way better motor.
I have a 440 pretty hot bike it'l hurt ya.
Truth!!!
I survived 3 years of midwest enduros on mine. This bike actually hurt a lot of people with its psychopathic powerband!
